  1. i want to know if the OP flew on a private or commercial plane. what kind of a pain in the arse was it to transport the handgun either way? i imagine it had to be declared at the checkpoint.
  2. his response to me asking when it will come up for discussion: I do not know at present. It may be Tuesday the 7th or the 13th. It will be discussed and testimony taken at the Legal and Legislative Committee hearing that I chair. Those meetings typically start at about 3:15 pm. The full council meeting is at 6 pm every Tuesday evening. The Chattanoogan usually has our agenda posted Friday. I do not know when the matter will be before us as our counsel has not seen a final copy of the actual bill signed by the Gov. Bredesen. Best regards, Peter B. Murphy
  3. in a nut shell, i emailed about 10 people today, including the Mayor, the entire Chatt City Council, and about 5 people from the local NBC and ABC stations. the email basically laid out the plain text of HR 218, and that states that off duty and retired LEO are restricted to the laws of regular citizens when it comes to legally carrying a firearm. i also informed them that if they go ahead with the ban on the legal carry in the local parks, then all off duty officers and retired officers will be violating the law just as if one of us fellow HCP holders were to carry away in a posted area. here is one response so far. i sent the emails this morning, about 8am eastern and have only gotten back one response. Dear Mr. Bodenbender: We will take up guns in parks shortly, and I would welcome your public input. I would like you to know that I personally have enjoyed shooting sports, and also respect our right to self defense. I think you should also know that guns have been forbidden in our City Parks for years and any action taken to affirm that situation, should that be the outcome as a result of the change in state legislation, presents no change of status. Please appear to make any factual points you feel we should consider in this matter at either the council meeting when the matter is taken up, or, at any Tuesday regular council meeting in the time devoted to public remarks on matters not on the agenda that evening. The council has not taken any final or legally binding action on this matter, and I know that all council members myself included, always wish to engage in fact finding prior to legislating. When this matter is taken up, we will have witnesses from the parks department, the police department, park rangers, and I am sure, many individual citizens. Thank you for taking your time to be civicly engaged. I also appreciate your concern for public safety. Best regards, Peter B. Murphy so in a nut shell, the premature reports of carrying in local parks already being banned are false, at least that is what his response tells me. i am about to mail him back and ask when this issue will be dealt with, as if you all noticed, he failed to disclose that information. typical politician. edit: while he is correct in saying that guns have been banned for years, that is because state law was written that way. now, out of all the parks that are posted around here, like the TN Riverpark (improperly posted) but i think that was a moot point when state law was against carrying anyway, how many are properly posted? anyone have an idea?
  4. waffle house locations in chattanooga have been improperly posted for years. screwem i carry anyway.
  5. yeah, the insurance thing was a load of crap. we all know that properly holstered unloaded firearms will jump out of a holster, chamber a few rounds and go berserk. /[sarcasm]
  6. will Barrett be lending any toys to shoot? id love to take a whack at that .50 cal i saw on future weapons............
  7. poor Farah's last minutes in the spotlight will be for ever lost to this pedophile passing on the same day.
  8. you can start off by informing them that by banning legal carry in the parks, they are also making it against the law for off duty police and retired police to carry there as well. the LEOSA does not cover those persons.
  9. i will be taking a copy of this to the Red Bank City Council meeting on July 7th. they might be able to ban carry in the parks in Red Bank, this this is sure footing that they can not take the beer permit excuse as a reason to ban firearms. it is going to probably piss them off, but i really do not give a flip. it puts the regulation of the firearms back in the establishments.
  10. notice how all that **** was passed and not one once of media coverage was given out so nobody could go speak out about that.
  11. i will be there. we need to make our voices heard. i will be wearing my Team Glock Tshirt.
  12. i cant wait till these *******s bring this up at a city council meeting. looks like i am going to have to find out when they are held and to start going.
  13. sept 1st? i didnt see a date in the bill. long guns is stated 7-1-09 the last line of the park bill is "This act shall take effect upon becoming a law, the public welfare requiring it." the last line of the long guns says "This act shall take effect July 1, 2009, the public welfare requiring it." why cant everything be laid out in black and white?
  14. yes, he signed both the parks bill and the long guns bill. State Park bill here Tennessee General Assembly Legislation Long Bun bill here Tennessee General Assembly Legislation from what i read, the State Parks bill took effect the minute he signed, and the long gun bill takes effect July 1, 2009.
  15. i say hold the gathering at Ruby Tuesday's. i thought someone posted that RT's made a pro 2A statement about the new law? call all the local media and have them come out and do a live report of law abiding citizens open carrying and dining. that would be a big slap in the face to a few governmental asshats.
  16. i didnt mean for my previous post to sound so harsh. i am just tired of the tactics that the political system operates around.
  17. i know they want to sell the thing, and knowing a ballpark figure would help. i think they are going to run it by Skips Firearms to let him look at the thing.
  18. i am glad this son of a bitch can not be elected again.
  19. he called remington. they made almost 250k of that model, and yes it is the model 10, 12 ga. it has the full stock. i would guess the barrel is 24 inches. i figured it would be worth more just because of the age. i dont imagine there are too many operational 100+ year old shotguns still out there that are 100% original. thanks for your reply though. it did help as much as the call to remington. all they did was verify the year and what what number the gun was in the production line.
  20. Applebees in GA locations are not posted. i was there a in March and there wasnt a thing about not carrying. but, in GA, signs dont mean anything.
  21. http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=viewImage&friendID=61173148&albumID=2877312&imageID=49944116#a=2877312&i=49944109
  22. i guess this is the right place. my brother has a shotgun from his girlfriends dad that came from his dad in the early 1900's. he is going to take some good pictures of the gun, but i saw it earlier today and here is what i know. stamped on the left side of the gun it says Remington Full, 116845 is stamped on the barrel, and JM6843 is stamped at the base near the trigger. also stamped on the gun is "patented between 2/3/1903 and 5/16/1905" on the right side of the gun, there is a button that you press to open the pump action, it is single barrel bottom feed/eject. the barrel and trigger area has heavy etching all over, and the stock appears to be engraved as well. google turned up the list of the remington firearms history, a lot of them have images, but nothing of this nature. he just messaged me and he is getting the camera to take a few pictures of this gun. the gun is possible for sale, it is in original condition. it has been stored in a closet for 50 years, and probably has not been fired in more than 75 years. the pump action operates perfectly and for its age, im guessing around 100 years old, this gun is in superb condition. the pad on the stock is work to hell, but im sure this item is worth something, i just do not know where to look.
  23. that would be awesome. i am game for that.
  24. this topic needs to be split in to 4 areas. chatt, memphis, kville and nashville. id be game for the chilis downtown here in chatt. name the time. cc or oc i dont care. we need a good size group to send the message loud and proud, and maybe even tip a waitress or two to call the mayor and say "we just had the most pleasant group of people in here legally armed and not one of them were drinking............"
