Yeah the recoil isn't a big deal to me either. I should have said this but the main thing I read was that it can prematurely wear on parts. I don't yet have a complete understanding of how an AR works but I have a general idea. Something about the extra length of time the bullet is in the barrel past the gas port. 

Yeah that's a great deal. I have been going back and forth on it because it is carbine length. Isn't the general consensus that the mid-length would be better with less recoil?

Yeah they do have it cheap. I just want to put my hands on one before I buy it. I have a relative with quite a few accessories I can try so once I get the upper in I will go over and play to see what I like.  :pleased:   I hear the different accessories are addicting. :ugh:

I saw them earlier but know nothing about them. I gather from your recommendation they have pretty good stuff?

Haha I'm going for MOA (Minute of Armadillo). For the $50 difference or so I'll probably just go with the FN barrel. Now I have to hope one comes along with a better handguard than the standard.

So is the chrome lined definitely the way to go? I have read it's more durable but possibly not as accurate.

I am planning on buying my barrelled upper from PSA during the Black Friday sale but I am having trouble deciding what to get. This is my first AR and will mainly just be used for backyard plinking and taking care of pests. I will likely run a non magnified or 2x optic on it.   I am looking at the three different choices I see in barrels:   PSA Freedom series 416 stainless - to my understanding these aren't chrome line but are "lead lapped" PSA CMV PSA CHF - barrel made by FN. Not sure how different this is from the CMV. I'll probably buy the BCG from Aim Surplus and a generic charging handle so I won't need to be complete.   I'm sure there are other questions to be asked that I haven't thought of so please guide me.  :up:

That's about where I will be after it's all said and done hopefully. Gotta buy mags and some type of optic. I will probably go with iron sights until I figure out what optic I want to go with. Unless they have a crazy deal on the Vortex Sparc. I have had my eye on it and I like Vortex as a brand.

Musician do you have any idea of what they had going last year? I just bought a complete lower from them and am waiting until black friday to buy an assembled upper. Just curious what to expect price wise.

I'd say you have a unique problem!  :pleased:  Most folks can't get the scope low enough when getting a good cheek weld. I decided to go ahead and "build" one from PSA parts but I'm still interested to see how this one turns out. I think most everyone else is too. Good luck!

Dave i'd be interested to get a full report on it once you break it in well. I plan on getting myself one for Christmas and while building one sounds fun if I can get a good one at that price I'd rather do that.

You can get a good set of Ameriglo's on ebay for around $75-80. I bought a set off of them directly for around $50 but I have a black rear sight.

From what I've read the newer ones have all the kinks worked out. I have a jm stamped base model and it still has the gold trigger and is blued. The new base models have a black (I think) trigger and a matte finish with a birch / hardwood stock. Id say look used as there are plenty out there and it'll probably be good and broken in.

It's really to bad you can't trust folks nowadays. It would irk me if my gun had to be checked because I won but I would bet they see lots of cheaters.

Man it's been a while since I've had a good take-out supreme pizza. I'll be ordering as well. Regardless of his motives the family was impacted positively by his presence and if they could tell he was burdened then I bet his intentions were pure.

I've shot a couple smaller trees in half with the 9mm. It probably took way more shots than that though.

I think you are right. I figured they would get a little lazy on those next three games (two now). They have still scored over 30 every game which makes me optimistic.

That's my kind of recipe. I don't think you can add too much stuff when cooking in a crock pot.
