  1. Well,  I hate to be a naysayer,  and I surely hate what Dick's did, but I just don't think it's going to hurt them all that much.   If we look at the numbers, the majority of the population is just not that concerned, especially when they can purchase firearms at other locations.   If you go in one of their store, you can see real quick like what their interest is; ball, clothes, golf.  Even if they did start to hurt, they'd just put some kind of spin on their move like, "our intentions were good, we just thought this would make our customers happy, and we were never really a gun store anyway,  blah, blah, blah".
  2. I just have to believe there is more to this story that we are not being told ( or at least that's what I want to believe).
  3. Left laners, those who drive under the speed limit only to speed up when you go to pass, cell phone drivers, etc., all are bad, but the texting folks are just out of control. I see all ages doing it and they are all driving bad, very bad. Very dangerous.
  4. My next door neighbor is a real jerk. We are on 5 acre tracts and on the other side of me is a 200 acre bean field that can't be built on because it is river bottom land that floods. Anyway, me neighbor always mows his yard before I do, keeps his place very neat, decks the place out for christmas, never bothers us... I know he's doing all that just to make me look bad. I just know it!
  5. Yeah, I wish some do-gooders would do some good in Murfreesboro. I've been waiting for years to get rid of a high school homemade one.
  6. If you have to carry because you're that afraid of her you probably shouldn't go out with her to begin with.
  7. This thread made me think of this story a while back and a video to go with it. http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20090402/metro08/904020395
  8. I guess I just don't understand. What's the big deal if someone double posts on a topic. Why does someone always feel it's there responsibility to point it out? No one is making anyone read anything. If someone sees a topic they don't want to read, or reread, why can't they just move along without playing cyber nanny. I know, I could ignore this rebuke as well. But, I would like these questions answer to put my mind at peace and give me some insight.
  9. "My wife bought this for me. She thought I said get a deer target. I told here to get me some beer at Target. " But sir, you shot it with your bow. "Yeah, but I was aiming at her!"
  10. Cops carry guns because of bad guys. We carry guns because of bad guys. We are on the same team. We pay the cops to make sure we are on the same team.
  11. I think they have a heavy construction equipment playground out there now. That and the full auto guns would be the only thing I'd blow my money on out there.
  12. As for advice, don't do like my nephew. He was in the process of applying and interviewing with a local PD. When they did a background check on him they discovered there was a warrant for his arrest. They arrested him at the interview. Come to find out, girl he had previously dated he taken out a warrant on him for assault, which was not true. She was just ticked off after a heated argument. All that to say, you might want to make sure your record is clean.
  13. Same here, even if I had to find a few extra dollars to throw in with it.
  14. The reason I ask is that a couple of beef farmers I know tried the beefalo route but said they were to aggressive to fool with. A lot harder on the fences and the farmers. Me personally, I don't have a clue other that what others say.
  15. Sadly, some cities are no longer allow their police officers to escort funeral processions because of the liability.
  16. +1 Eggzactly what I was thinking. And, also once some got established, they would ship some things from "back East".
  17. Don't hold that against them. My understanding is the owner is starting out small and plans to work his way up. Very wise. He has low overhead which allows him to be, shall we say, very competitive. Something Murfreeboro needs. If anyone in the area has a purchase in mind they ought to go at least give him a chance.
  18. I'm done playing the devil and naysayer. I stay armed, loaded weapons placed various locations about my home. I have risen more than once with a loaded weapon to aid my neighbor. Out where I live, cops are many, many minutes away when seconds count.
  19. So, if the bad guy did not halt you think it's ok to shoot someone over $500 worth of jewelry?
  20. I'm still playing the devil: 1st we ask police officers to do this every day. 2nd what if the BG turns out to be a meter reader with a independent contractor. You are now charged with brandishing a weapon.
  21. Well, I stopped in Point Blank today. And, as reported, you couldn't meet a nicer guy than the owner. He's been open about two weeks. Wouldn't you know it I just purchase my last gun about 4 weeks ago. If I'd only had known I would have waited and gave Point Blank the sell. If you are in the area, go by and check them out. You won't be sorry.
  22. OK, I will play the devil. Did the neighbor have a legal right to draw on the BG? No one was in imminent danger. From what I can tell, the BG did not have a weapon nor was he threatening the neighbor.
  23. Al, since this a friend of yours, maybe you can answer a question. Why do they have such limited store hours?
