East German Makarov made from better steel than Russian one. It is designed to shoot steel cased corrosive ammo. As much as I remember, projected barrel life is 8000 rounds. If you use copper plated bullets and non corrosive primers, the barrel will last at least 16000 rounds. Makarov does not have Tenifer finish, so it is recommended to keep it lubricated all the time The sites are fixed on EG Makarov. Russian Makarov has adjustable sites. The magazines are interchangeable between Bulgarian, Russian and German. Important thing for reloading is not to exceed the bullet's weight 100 grains. Also you can not load brass cases up to Russian spec. The case will be ruptured at the button. I used Hornady data and could reuse the brass 6 to 8 times

I can recommend Holston Hills and Orchid Hills areas. Technically it is East Knoxville. However I live here for 2 years and never had any troubles. Clean air, calm streets, not much of a traffic. Tomato test is simplified test for corrosion resistance. Degrease a spot of a bare metal with acetone. For a handgun the best spot is where slide contacts the rails. Because the finish is worn there. Place a drop of tomato juice on this spot. Leave the part in such has a good quality. If the colour become brown it is low quality steel. If the colour does not change it is either stainless steel or poor quality of tomato. The test does not work in extremely dry or hot conditions. Otherwise the results are very consistent. It is not so obvious. .400 Corbon to 10mm relation is similar to .357 SIG to 9x23 Winchester relation. 9x23 is undeniably great cartridge. However .357 SIG is more common. The key of .357 SIG success was great pistols from ZIG and easy conversion I would like to try .400 Corbon, but I can not find a range that rents such a gun

I studied the geometry and loading data for .400 Corbon. I also read a lot of reviews and range reports about this cartridge. I've got impression that reliability issues prevented widespread of this (excellent in theory) round. In theory a bottleneck case should feed better than a straight case. In real life it mostly depends on the magazine. Most of .400 Corbon handguns were converted from .45 ACP. I had not heard about any special mags. My questions are: 1. Who ever had .400 gun or converted other calibre to .400? 2. How reliable was the action? 3. Did you use factory loads or handloads? 4. Did you make .400 brass from .45 ACP brass? 5. How did the gun function with your handloads?
