July 4th just around the corner, what do you usually do?

My wife and I started a little get together about 6 years ago, after the first year it became an anual event. Uaually have somewhere between 25 and 30 inlaws staying at my house for 4 to 6 days, most of them from NJ, then on the 4th, with my folks and friends about 60 for the day. Hog and goat on the pit, lots of horseshoes, and maybe a cold beer or two. What about you folks?

We usually do a cookout, little pool time, watch fireworks. Used to be a big thing when I lived in a house and a county that didn't ban amateur fireworks.

Hopefully next year we will have a house and be able to do a bit more.

Also an occasional firework fight,but those usually happen anyways throughout the summer so I won't count that here

I used to go to lobster and clambakes, then sit on the boat and watch the fireworks over the harbor. Now I've moved to rural Tn., I don't have any idea what I'll do. But i've got a month to figure it out.

Maybe some shooting (guns are good for keeping the King of England out of your face), definitely some grilling and a growler of Nut Brown Ale, and fireworks.

All the Jersey folks love the fireworks, they can't do those at home. Kind of freakish about the guns though.

For the 4th, I usually just grill some steak and potatoes, give thanks to our forefathers and those that died to give us freedom, and proceed to get sauced.

It's usually a big family affair, with everybody getting together at an aunt's out in the country all day, football, fireworks all night, but not a lot of alcohol--most of the family drinks but she doesn't allow it in the house.

So there are a lot of trips to the car, or out back, or personally just mix vodka and Sprite in a 20-oz bottle.

This year it will probably be a big deal for the rest of the family--I'll be at Parris Island, but according to Tink's brother (he was there this time last year) you actually eat well on the Fourth.

The 4th is the Mrs's Bday. She hates fireworks, so we go out to eat or shop err sumthin. Then I find my quiet place and drink Thorogood style.

Grillin' and chillin'.

About 3 or 4 years ago, we started heading near downtown for the fireworks. There is a parking lot across the street from the Exxon, right at Shelby Street and the Interstate.

We get there about 4:00-5:00pm to get a good parking spot along the grassy area that's next to the road. We throw some grub on the grill, and chill until the fireworks start. It's the perfect spot for people watching. And there is never a shortage of "scenery", if you know what I mean.

When the fireworks are over, it's a cake walk getting back on the interstate. I tried the whole "Riverfront" thing, ONCE! Never again. It took about 3+ hours to get back to out vehicle and out of the downtown area. It's not worth it.

I will be on the TN River in a quiet bay until just before dark and them I'll go to the bridge at Paris Landing State Park by boat and watch the fireworks.

Nice cookout in the mountains at our cabin,family and friends plenty of cold refreshments of your choice, nice pig on the smoker then at dark a 4-wheeler parade to the top of the mountain to watch fireworks from local towns.

Before my family got a little more spread out, used to have a big ol' time both my brother, their wives and kids and me and my kids, grilling, chilling a little adult beverage.

On fireworks each group usualy had a pretty good stash to start with, but seems we always ran to town and got some more.

Not really sure how things will work out this year....but at least it is on my weekend off....

the 4th, making money, boosting the economy. All anybody else seems to

do is waste all that hard-earned money on booze, broads, and burns. Oh

god, what a waste to see all these people out there enjoying themselves

going through all that cash, when they could be working, saving it.
