"Assault Rifle"

you do know that you can let go of the trigger right and it will stop shooting, right?

3-round burst is stupid IMO. or maybe if you have someone that has no trigger discipline to let go and not do a full mag dump.

my personal choice would be to have a select fire. you have safe, semi, and full auto. honestly i would probably use semi mostly, but you also have the choice to use full auto if necessary

Assault rifle is a derogatory term used by the media trying to make weapons sound evil. Assault weapon is a term coined by California, describing weapons that have not been nuetered.

You hit the nail on the head. Every post I see with "assault rifle" or "high cap" mags I cringe. And I would like to add the above aslo works for "high caps" this is an anti-gun term please don't use it. Unless your Beretta 92 hold 20 round and sticks out the bottom of the gun, its not high capacity. You have standard mags as they were before the ban, reduced capacity (clinton 10 rounders) and high capacity holding more then the standard flush magazines.

Sorry if this is thread drifting. I work at a TV station and they love to use these terms cause they sound better, so at least the people that know can use the correct terms.

"Full-capacity" works well as a better-sounding substitute for "high-capacity" when referring to magazines.

"Assault weapon" means something that Congress doesn't like.

Like 48 South said, "assault rifle" came from the German word sturmgewehr. It isn't necessarily anti-gun, although it does sound big and scary. Technically, it does refer to a select-fire weapon.

I guess you could call the Bushmaster an "assault carbine" or an "AR-15 clone".

Too many technicalities... call it whatever you want. I like the term "freedom rifle".

Yes I know you can let go of the trigger my point is you only get 1.8 seconds on trigger before its empty split it up or let it go all at once its not gonna change the fact that the gun will be empty after 1.8 seconds of the trigger being pulled.

Being as the extent of my FA "Assault" weapon experience comes from crappin around on the range and CoD4, I'd say FA "short bursts" would be the prefered method. :tinfoil:

So I guess in effect I'm saying I know didly about FA in combat haha.

Lol if we count Cod 4/5 as combat situations assaulting an enemy then I have tons of experience and in that case running circles around your enemy while doing a mag dump seems to work best for me :D
