Traffic Camera

I was driving when I saw the flash of a traffic camera. I figured that my picture had been taken for exceeding the limit even though I knew that I was not speeding.

Just to be sure, I went around the block and passed the same spot, driving even more slowly, but again the camera flashed.

Now I began to think that this was quite funny, so I drove even slower as I passed the area once more, but the traffic camera again flashed.

I tried a fourth and fifth time with the same results and was now laughing as the camera flashed while I rolled past at a snail's pace.

Two weeks later, I got five tickets in the mail for driving without a seat belt.

You can't fix stupid.

I set a camera off in Texas over a month ago. In a rental car. Seat belt on. Not really sure what triggered it but nobody else was in the intersection at the time. No news is good news. Maybe I'll get a summons for picking my nose or something.

The rental car company may not let you know, but the ticket may haunt you for a while. One time in San Diego, I got a parking ticket on a rental car that was rented to the other pilot I was flying with. Threw it away and didn't think about it. 2 years later, the other pilot was trying to buy a house and it showed up on his credit report as unpaid! He called me and was really pissed off. I had to pay the $15 ticket and about $90 in penalty and interest just so he could buy his house.

So, I'm very careful in rental cars now.

A while back, my boss called one of my co workers in his office and asked him about two tickets that came in the mail. They were for the truck assigned to this guy. He'd been turning right on red, but not coming to a complete stop before going. When asked about the tickets, he responded by saying: "just wait a few days and you'll have three. I just saw the S.O.B. flash on my way into the office just now!":D

I got 2 from Chicago in rental cars both times. The toll road did not have an attendent and if you dont have .80 correct change only you get a 55.00 ticket in the mail.I drove up a couple months later in a new truck, the dealers tag in the back window and got my 110.00 worth of tolls back.

In all honesty I've never seen one flash but I was driving down the road one day and my gps goes crazy, seems it has this feature of locating traffic cameras. Startled me but good. then at the next light it did it again so I got to looking, it was doing it every time an intersection had a traffic light. Best 100 bucks I ever spent.

I've owned a magellin, a mio, a stupid indash that couldn't find it's own ass. This is my first tom tom and I'm impressed so much so that if it dies tomorrow on the way to k town I'll have another before I get home.:hiding:
