Say No To Socialism

This morning I awoke to the sound of my alarm clock powered by electricity generated by the Public Power Monopoly regulated by the US department of energy. I then took a shower in the clean water provided by the municipal water utility. After that, I turned on the TV to one of the FCC regulated channels to see what the Weather Service of the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration determined the weather would be like today using satellites designed, built and launched by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. I did this while eating my breakfast of US Department of Agriculture inspected food and taking drugs determined safe by the Federal Drug Administration.

At a time that has been kept accurate by the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the US Naval Observatory, I got into my National Highway Traffic Safety Administration approved automobile and set out to work on roads built and maintained by local, state and federal departments of transportation. I checked my mail delivered by the US Postal Service and dropped the kids of at public school, then stopped for fuel of a quality regulated by the Environmental Protection Agency.

After work I drove my NHTSA car on DOT roads back home, which has not burned down because of state and local building codes and a fire marshal's inspection. My house has not been plundered in my absence because of the local police department.

I then log onto the internet which was developed by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Administration and post here on AWE, in freerepublic.com and of course the Fox News forums about how socialized health care is bad because the government can't do anything right.

Wow... if we have it so good here, with our (formerly) limited government and capitalist society, then the former USSR and eastern block states must be a Paradise on earth. I have to admire someone who would leave such a workers paradise to bring the gospel of St. Marx to us poor backward souls.

Thank you for your selfless sacrifice, Strel. It must be tough for you.

If your power goes off for two weeks, they will still charge you for the whole month (pro-rate).

If your water is polluted they will fix it maybe, but will never admit fault (good luck suing the gov't).

NHTSA? Really? Can you say Toyota?

If you spill a quart of oil on the ground, the EPA will be there to fine you within a day. If the gov't dumps toxic waste on your property, it's your fault stupid!

If your home is burglarized, too bad for you. Police are only responsible for protecting "the public", not you in particular. What are the odds that you'll get any of your property back?

USPS? Really? Can you say belly up? Can you say union, comrade?

You remind me of the "snowbirds" that move down south when they retire. They come down here because of the lower cost of living and lower taxes. Then, many of them (not all of them, though) start trying to turn their new home into the same kind of crap pile they just left! It never ceases to amaze me.

I would like to meet you, though. The last time I laid eyes on an eastern European communist was across the Berlin Wall. Didn't like them then, and still don't.

Rather than trying to turn this country into what you left, would it not be easier and better for us all, if you just went home?

Strel, your post reads like they are doing me some kind of favor.

Unless I am mistaken it is my tax dollars paying for all of this. So in reality the gov't does very little for me.

All of that, with the exception of NASA, are regulatory in nature. Not socialist. Even NASA, and for that matter the US Naval Observatory and DARPA all contract to civilian vendors for the things "they" produce.

Yep. Also, your English has improved, or is this another copy and paste from one of your Democrat Fifth Column sites? :D

Give me your money, no, you don't have a say in it, now we'll benevolently give it back to you and take the credit that Federal Aid did the job. BRILLIANT! Whoever originally wrote that should quit sniffing Sharpies.

This morning I awoke to the sound of my alarm clock powered by electricity generated by the Public Power Monopoly regulated by the US department of energy.Which you are free to generate yourself or use alternates. I then took a shower in the clean water provided by the municipal water utility. Unless you have a well or your own alternate source After that, I turned on the TV to one of the FCC regulated channels satellite or internet gets non-regulated channels to see what the Weather Service of the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration or one of it's competitors determined the weather would be like today using satellites designed rarely, built almost never and launched less often these days by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration which has a failure rate much higher than private industry. I did this while eating my breakfast of US Department of Agriculture inspected food your choice, but not required and taking drugs determined safe by the Federal Drug Administration which if they are wrong cannot be held liable unlike the drug company (private industry).

At a time that has been kept accurate by the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the US Naval Observatory, I got into my National Highway Traffic Safety Administration approved automobile (you DO know that the NHTSA has disapproved of safety devices and high-tech materials so that they could have a 'one-size-fits-all standard) and set out to work on roads built and maintained by local, state and federal departments of transportation (actually most roads are designed and built by road construction companies). I checked my mail delivered by the US Postal Service (or UPS or FEDEX which are faster, more reliable, and not subidized by tax money) and dropped the kids of at public school (don't EVEN try to defend government schools which have produced a literacy rate LOWER than we had in 1850!), then stopped for fuel of a quality regulated by the Environmental Protection Agency(actually fuel quality standards were set by the industry in the 1960's. What the EPA does is increase the cost of that fuel by demanding that the formulation change seasonally regardless of the actual weather :D ) .

After work I drove my NHTSA (I sure wouldn't brag about that) car on DOT (I wouldn't brag about that either) roads back home, which has not burned down because of state and local building codes (mine pre-dates those codes and hasn't burnt down either) and a fire marshal's inspection (never had one, don't plan on getting one). My house has not been plundered in my absence because of the local police department (actually it's because of the privately-owned security system and private company monitoring it. You are aware that the police have absolutely no legal obligation to protect your house, you, your kids, or anything else? .

I then log onto the internet which was (initially) developed by University professors working on a grant from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Administration and post here on AWE, in freerepublic.com and of course the Fox News forums about how socialized health care is bad because the government can't do anything right (typically, government solutions come out anywhere from 2-10 times over the cost estimates. The solution proposed to these cost over-runs is always MORE government expansion or oversight.

Pretty much ANYTHING that government does is, can, and has been done at 1/2 to 1/10th the cost of the government solution. What's more important is that in your examples above, the individual has the OPTION of not availing himself of government services. This takeover of the healthcare industry FORCES every American to utilize a service they may not want or need. From over twenty years I had no 'health insurance' except for accident and major medical. I had no need for anything else.

Those in favor of government-mandated Health insurance are either ignorant, stupid, or evil. I believe most are more ignorant of basic economics than the average teenager in the 1850's. Must be that wonderful government schooling.:hat:

I'm pretty sure Al Gore said he invented the internet. I'm also pretty sure that no one here is advocating anarchy. What we are looking for is LIMITED government. The Federal Government is there to do what the public sector will not, can not, or should not do. Healthcare does not fall into that catergory in my opinion.

I am almost certain he is from Bosnia or Croatia (based on user name and chosen spelling for name)... Unfortunately, his worldview represents the mediocre majority of people over age 35 from most former Soviet satellites. Still, it is people like this, holding such worldviews and spreading them amongst the naive sectors of American society that are slowly and subtley contributing to ultimate decay of American society. Somewhat dramatic? Perhaps but I believe it to be true. If it were my position, I too would 'send him home'.

Also strel, do not exhaust your own energy and efforts with me defending your affection towards socialism or any other pseudo-intellectual ideologies you may have. Unlike the majority of people here, I am from deep within the borders of former USSR, exact location is irrelevant. I speak perfect advanced English (unlike you) and have a very extensive understanding of socialism.
