By using that logic, how can you trust anyone passing

a bill without reading it? Love the Rachel Maddow all you

wish. If you think education is the only criteria to evaluate

someone's ability, fine, too.

Looking at the process alone, and the media being a

willing accomplice to get that bill pass, I am happy to see

a few people other than those highly educated elite news

commentators. I like popular shows. Tell me something

about Rachel's ratings and compare them to Beck's.

Not that it matters to anyone but being stuck up on a degree

and look down on success at the same time is confusing to me,

maybe I'm not

educated enough!

I have always been fiscally conservative, and socially liberal. Right now, I'm just pissed off. I'm tired of being screwed by a wide range of folks... politicians, wall streeters, bankers, etc. I am totally convinced that the folks in DC, on both sides of the asle are out for themselves. Most people in that game are lying their butts off right now, and that includes a lot of broadcasters.

I've said on this board before that I'm witholding judgement on the health care thing until I have a chance to read it MYSELF. There is so much spin coming from these "passionate real people" like Beck that I don't trust a word I hear from them.

If you can't believe what you hear or read, how can you be a strong supporter of any of these clowns?

Who said I trust the people that passed healthcare? I said I trust myself, and my jury is still out. Not sure the media was a willing accomplice, since it was passed in congress by one party. I'm thinking CNN had little to do with it.

Lets don't get into ratings. I know what created Rush, Beck, and Hannity. In fact, I know the people that did it. That's my industry.

I don't think that education is the only criteria, but it's usually required in a commentator. These conservative talk (ex disk jockeys) are very successful with their audiences. That's why they came into being. Everyone should realize though that they're an entertainment product, not visionaries.

I'm not stuck on degrees, but I make sure that part of my information comes from intellectuals. Education certainly isn't a bad thing

You didn't bother to watch the video. It's from MSNBC's air. Doesn't matter which site the video lives on, 'cause it's not their content. Glen Beck is a disk jockey. Let's comapare the two bashees.

Glen Beck: High school education

Rachel Maddow: Undergrad degree, Stanford-Rhodes Scholar-PhD Politics, Oxford

Rachel IS a man trapped in a woman's body

Beck is a woman trapped in a man's body

Beck is a recovering alcoholic and drug addict, and suffers from ADHD.

Sure, Beck is a conservative, and Maddow is a Liberal, but listening to both, I've always had the sense that Rachel is a better journalist, and Glen is a sensationalist. He has had a lot of moments when I agreed, it's hard to buy into somebody completely when they're such a snake oil salesman.

Beck has never claimed to be a journalist. He is also up front about his past. I imagine that is where you found that out about him. He doesn't ask

you to agree with him, only to listen to what is being presented and draw your own conclusions, some of which should be obvious.

About Ms. Maddow. Since she is so well educated, she must be better than the rest of us uneducated hicks. We should look up to her for the

opine of the day, and not by the distasteful likes of Glenn Beck.

The ratings are very telling when you compare the two personalities. There

are also a lot of liberals who wish to shut him up. He must be doing something right! Liking a personality or not is up to the individual, thank God, and not the intellectuals. Each deserve their own place wherever it ends up.

I was defending Maddow. Where did you get the uneducated hick thing? Personally, I think Beck imbellishes some with subjects that I think are dead serious. I don't like the guy because of that. I already told you... I'm sick of people lying. We all need the facts right now. I have no problem with different points of view.

I know a lot of liberals and a lot of conservatives. The consensus among the liberals I know is they they just wish these guys would quit lying. The real debate points keep getting covered up in crap. The debate is healthy.

And yes, the conservative talkers get great ratings. That discovery saved AM radio, so my industry created more. Rush was the first, and the others came later. It's ALL about the ratings. When people realize that, we have made some progress.

I don't watch Beck or Maddow, really, other than occasional YouTube videos on my computer. I have a couple liberty-minded friends who really doesn't like Beck's show. I personally don't know enough to make a real judgement.

But I am pretty sure that he wouldn't ridicule me for supporting the Second Amendment March. Maddow, on the other hand...

I don't call that journalism. I call that an adult temper tantrum.

Could she possibly adopt a more condescending tone?

I can do without it. And I will.

I've been in broadcasting for over 30 years, and know a LOT of high profile personalities. The toughest part of their job is filling their time slot with content, and MAKING it compelling. No ratings, and they lose the time slot.

None of these guys are totally full of crap, but you gotta realize that their primary job is to get ratings. They have to fire up their audience, no matter how dull the story is to begin with. There is where the problem starts.

Just so you know, Mike. Beck's argument to those liberals is, "If I'm lying,

prove it to me". When an entertainment show on TV out rates and works

on it's information better than a news outlet, that speaks a lot for the messenger. It really isn't my place to defend Beck and his info or his format. He does a pretty good job on his own. Those liberal friends of yours should step up to the plate and prove him lying, if that is the case.

Maddow's credentials don't mean anything to me and many others. It's her content that bothers those of us.

The one thing I can say about MSNBC is if you think they don't distort the news, go back and look at a news piece about a man in a white shirt toting

an AR15. Those hyenas reported that man as a white racist at an Obama

health care town hall. The man was black. They, including Maddow, neglected to 'report' that. The polls reflect that kind of reporting, which is

called lying to the public.

This is going nowhere. I strongly disagree with rachel, and anybody else on an anti-gun stance. Everybody gets to pick who they believe. In fact, it's much better for me if you believe everything they say, since those guys help pay the bills.

I'm done with this.

Now you're getting somewhere, Mike:D

Just so you know, an uneducated hick that has the ratings of Beck's is much

more valuable than the highly educated socialist Maddow. I referred to your comparison of Beck's and Maddow's education. The one difference in a good education and a great one isn't the degree or where it came from. Motivation can blow it out of the water. Maddow has her camp, Beck his. To each their

own. He just happens to prove a "highschool education" can pay off.

Guys, plenty of Mormon's here on the board. Ask a question if you have one but don't show your ignorance by holding up any one individual as an example of how a group of 14 million people think.

The general idea that a Mormon is somehow deficient or flawed in their thinking, and therefore their thoughts, abilities, or skills must then be suspect . . well that's just dumb.
