Unless Two buck Chuck is a specific wine it is probably a Red Blend. And as I have been told is nothing special and no more than cheap ass wine.

Buy something that actually has body and tastes good.

Aroundabout 3 years ago, we inquired about $2 Chuck at Buster's (Massive liquor store) and was told Chuck wasn't sold east of the Miss. May have changed since, but didn't care since I don't drink wine. At the time, there were alot of blind tests that showed professionals (whatever that means) felt it was a decent selection in the $18-25 range.

I'm suprised to hear that. From what I have heard Charles Shaw (Two buck chuck) has won multiple awards and is said to be one of the best values in wine. Granted I am not a big wine drinker and it is very possible I am misinformed.

My wife grabbed a bottle of the white zinfandel so I will see if she likes it or not. If she does I will be getting some for her to take home at least, can't go wrong with the price.

Update: Well the wife and the MIL love it so I guess I will be bringing some home.

My impression; smooth but a very, very mild body. It almost tastes watered down to me. Of course most white zinfs do to me. It does not taste bad though.

2BUCKchuck, is much bigger up north then it ever would be down south. $2.00 bottle of wine isn't that uncommon in Tennessee, it just depends where you look for it (give or take a few). Charles Shaw is known more for being the first to sell mass cheap product in glass bottles than he is for selling good low priced product. With that said, I will buy a case anytime I see it, I applaud cheap booze!!

my mistake i thought you meant wine,

the WZ is closer to flat soda pop,

But what the heck as long as they like it.

Like we say in the wine and spirits business " I don't care what it tastes like, does it sell? Sales determine if a wine is any good. ;) We sell a mountain of cheap wines but nothing for two dollars. Shaw probably originally had juice that was going to get poured out and figured sell it even if there is no money to be made. And somehow he is able to make a profit on it.

I was excited about Trader Joes opening here in Nashville until I realized they wouldn't be selling wine (I really wish that law would change).

I like the Shiraz ok. The cab is decent too but I mostly use the cab for cooking. I put a whole bottle in when I make a big batch of my red sauce for pasta...

I think I'm now going to have to run home and cook up some sketty...

The wife and I keep a pretty decent supply of CS Shiraz on had, ie several cases. On our most recent supply run the wife picked up a few bottles of Charles Shaw International Shiraz from Australia,

It was ok, but we both liked the domestic Shiraz better.

Mike.357,

Thats what I thought, but I read the bottle and sure enough it was imported from Down Under. And as a thread hijack my favorite beer has always been James Boags from Tasmania and until recently wasnt available outside of Tassie, Australia and New Zealand(I emailed them after I got back to the US from Launceston, Tasmania where its brewed). Now all I have to do is find it locally. :D
