Do plastic guide rods have any advantages?

I'd be careful switching to a metal rod in a gun designed for a plastic one. They do a number on the frame and barrel lugs. Best topo stick to the original design when it comes to important parts.

Agreed.

Beretta 92FS must have been designed for a steel guide rod, because that is what they all had for years until recently. I can't see any diff between my 10 year old 92 and the new 92, so the new one ought to work just as well as the old one with a steel guide rod. Dunno if it would really work any better or worse if I swap steel for plastic on the new one, though.

Haven't been inside a lot of pistols, but noticed that the plastic-framed Kahr P9 uses a blued steel guide rod, so apparently it isn't mandatory that all plastic frames would get bunged up by a steel guide rod.

Recently acquired a CZ 85 that has a plastic guide rod in a steel frame. Does anyone know if CZ 75 and 85 always had a plastic guide rod, or is that a new parts change as with the Beretta 92's?

All I can say, is that My Glock is a better gun after going to to heavier spring and steel guide.

As Ripley said....."Believe it.....or not".

Also, Capbyrd, I aint interested in "tests" or being "fair" or who here thinks Im wrong, right, or ape**** crazy.

ALL I care about my weapons firing every time I pull the trigger, and hitting what Im aiming at.

I accomplish this routinely and care not what others may think.

I swear....some of yall would argue with GOD.

You made a claim and I pointed out that your claim was comparing apples to oranges. Sorry you can't deal with actual logic.
