Tennessee's defiant illegal aliens

The Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 took most of the enforcement of illegal immigrants from the states to a federal level. One thing that stood out in that legislation is companies started hiring subcontractors. This let the companies off the hook by using subcontractors because they were not employees. We're screwed!!!

I hope everybody followed the links in Tim Nunan's post. As with most problems with the government's incompetence, it's about political influence and palm greasing. We can discuss it until we're blue in the face. The system is so corrupt that it can't be fixed.

What agency can I call and annoy? I would love to call repeatedly on a few businesses just to make sure they are in compliance. or better yet write a certified letter and make sure to CC it to others to force them to do something. Most often a call can be ignored but the same letter to several offices regarding the same issue cannot.

That would be the Labor Standards Division of the Department of Labor and Workforce Development... The problem is they refuse to take complaints from 'citizens' and only from government agencies.

Here is a copy of the law:

http://www.state.tn.us/sos/rules/0800/0800-07-01.pdf

Now here is the kicker, if you can convince somebody who works for any level of the TN government a business has hired illegal immigrants, they are required by law to report it to the Labor Standards Division, and they are required by law to investigate the complaint.

So, if you can find somebody who works for the government (a city public works employee or librarian, school teacher, etc) then they are required to file the complaint, and the state government must respond by investigating the complaint.

Here is a fun exercise... go down to their office and ask to see how many investigations they have done under the law in the last 3 years... I think you'll be shocked how few  They have no interest in enforcing TN laws IMHO.

I do not have a problem with someone trying to better their life. There is a path for immigrants to do that, it is called acquire citizenship. Is it easy, NO, and it shouldn't be. But, it says that you want to be a part of the United States of America and not a leech.

Any employer who hires an illegal alien should go to jail. Illegals should be deported immediately. Any transportation costs to haul them to the border is chump change compared to the drain on the countries resources to keep them here.

Our troops should be guarding OUR borders instead of every Muslim country in the world. If these oil rich countries want our nations help, they should pay for it in dirt cheap oil. If not, let them kill each other off and then bomb the hell out of the victor.

I would sleep better at night. This concludes my rant.

I say give them all green cards and make them start paying taxes. I have no problem with the immigrant since they help keep down the inflated price of American labor down but I wish they would start paying their share of the taxes to help support the country they work in. hell if we all would start supporting our county instead of taking it else ware we would be in alot better shape

i disagree in part, inflated american labor used to be called made in the USA, a standard of workmanship the world looked up to. now that we've opened our borders for trade without incentive to make it here companies make sub standard products with sub standard wages elsewhere. we're a nation of buyers, and that laziness has led us to believe that we're above working hard for the little that we own, it's our own laziness and greed that has doomed us to poverty as a nation, thats what makes it appealing to mexicans they're willing to work twice as hard for what we've got quite simply because they've been hungry before and most of us have not. don't make it easier on them and easier on people who would employ them, deem them invaders, and their employers be tried for treason. but we lack the fortitude as a nation to do this, so we're doomed to repeat the history of the world, every great nation in history has collapsed under the weight of it's own welfare. and so shall we.

That's pretty dramatic. Until people stop buying into what the modern politicians and radio personalities are selling and start demanding accountability we are doomed.

Every couple of years the politicians come up with hot button issues that causes the silly dems and republicans to fight over petty issues while ignoring immigration and the economy.

They have no reason to act on immigration as long as they can get people to fight over if the lame in the WH has a birth certificate or if union employees make too much money.

Hot button issues equal bait and switch. Our biggest problems right now are our representatives.
