Why NOT to use WD-40!

I always believed WD 40 was for water displacement. It works short term for lubricating but is not really a viable alternative to oil. The big downside is that it also repels oil. So if you use WD and it dries or evaporates then you oil the same piece the oil will not take to it. Or so I believe anyway.

For every other lubrication need there is a proper lube that works much better than WD-40. I don't know why anyone would use WD-40 on guns.

I have read post on the low road about people useing it on there guns.You can get some great info on that site :P
The only thing i ever use it on is after I blue a gun I will soak it in wd40 for about a month. It will really set the color in and give you a stronger finish.
