Have the looks of the HCP changed?

Recommended Posts

I got my HCP in April of last year. I recently ordered a duplicate to have with me in my vehicle, just in case I were to leave my wallet at home or lose it, and the layout of the license is different. The red banner with "Handgun Carry Permit" close to the bottom of the license is no longer there. Just wondering if the looks of the license underwent a change of layout or if duplicates are just a little different as far as layout/looks goes.

Yuppers. They changed awhile back. When they started issuing out the new driver's licenses, they switched the HCP to the same. If you look at the new HCP's in just the right light, you can see the crap ton of holograms they added onto it as well.

When I renewed my HCP via mail, I received the "old" style. If I had gone to the DMV, I would have gotten the "new" style. I was in the time period of transitioning to the new ones. I kinda like the old one and am glad that is what I got.

Why would having gone to the DMV vs. renewing online have any effect on which one you got? I don't understand that.
