I hear you, it has been a massive weight off of my chest since my wife started working as well. We agreed she could be a full time stay at home mom until our daughter started school.

Poorest five years of my adult life...

I'm still on the far side of that hill, my youngest just turned 1. So there is light at the end of this tunnel?

The best way to figure out the wife has to work and not stay at home is have another kid or 3. Hold on...hmmm, carry the 3......damn, I did it wrong, that way is WAY MORE expensive!

It does get better. I will admit that it isn't easy.

The hardest part, don't argue about money. Just don't.

And if you forget that rule, DO NOT bring up the fact that she quit working.

Don't.

The hard part now, we have been living off of my paycheck for so long, and stretched so thin, that now that we have a surplus of income again, she thinks it is okay to go out and live it up. After all, she hasn't been able to afford all those fancy shoes and purses she has wanted for years. We should have it balanced back out next month and things will be good. I have kinda slacked off for the last couple of months and let her have fun, and maybe snuck a gun or four in under the radar...

I never did understand those guys who "don't want their wife to work".... why? If you have small kids then I can understand but there are many guys who just don't want their wife to work.

Not me. I've been trying to get my lazy wife to get a second full time job so I can retire.
