First AR: should I buy the whole gun or build from parts?

have been thinking about my first ar too, my thoughts were to buy a complete rifle, M&P 15 Sport, first, learn about how it works, then put together a suppressed sbr ar :pleased:

Yes, good idea, but it may be more challenging at this time to actually find an M&P Sport available for purchase than to build an AR from parts.

Building the lower on mine is what I did. Plus that way I got the upper I wanted (which is more important)... the BCM EAG Tactical 14.6" with battle comp 1.5 pinned. Just check out all the specialized uppers at BCM (BravoCompanyUsa).

BTW I don't recommend pinned flash hiders to increase your OAL, since it sucks when you want to change a gas block, or quad rail, etc... just get a 16" barrel.
