Benchmade steel takes a great edge that lasts well. I think they're pretty hard to beat for the money.

BTW...check Sears, they have that same model for $80. I don't know how casual/serious you are about knives, but I bought a knock-about knife to save my Benchmade from some of my careless abuse. I got one of the H&K branded Benchmade knives. The steel isn't top notch, but for about 1/3 of the price...who cares?

I carry the 555bkhg (City ordnance has 3" max) and I like it. It replaced a Kershaw blur that I had lost tubing down a river. It flips open quickly, and the lock is pretty solid.

The only drawback is if you have meaty hands you need to be careful when flipping it closed (the handle is short enough that you can clip your palm with the tip if you're not careful)
