Hey guys I have a Winchester model 1885. Checked

The serial number and winchester said

The production date was 1889.

It's a 22 falling block with the heavy octogan barrel. Just wondering if anybody know the value. I

Can't seem to be able to find it anywhere.

They are a sought after gun in original condition. It would really be helpful to see it. From what you've described, I'd guess in the $1500-$3000 range. However, any extra holes, sling swivels, refinishes, etc. will greatly diminish the value.

No none of that. In the

Exact

Shape it was when it was produced, with a little wear on it. But

Pretty darn good for a rifle over 120 yr old

Thanks for the pics. That is a cool rifle! It is a shame someone didn't take better care of it. I'm guessing it would bring close to a grand in it's condition, assuming the bore is good and nothing is broken. The pics don't show an 80% rifle, but do show an original gun with quite a bit of honest wear and poor storage.

Thanks Greg, I appreciate you giving me a hand.

And yea it's got a few scratches (or two), but since I got it I have really tried to clean it up and make it a little easier to look at.

Although I have done nothing to refinish the original look or modify it in any way. I am still tickled pink to own a working firearm that has a production date over 120 years old.

Absolutely! I'd be excited to own it as well. Please do not attempt to refinish it. I'd keep it clean, shoot it, and enjoy a great piece of history. Several companies build reproductions of John Browning's "Low Wall" Winchester. That alone is a testament to the quality, workmanship, and sound design of the gun.
