Am I the only one thinking of buying a horse and buggy?

Ok. I use the roads. I like the convenience of owning a vehicle and I know that roads have to be paid for and maintained but why must they complicate things so? :drama: And why does it seem like everything they do just cancels itself out? Is it just me?

this is just dumb. Not because of the tax, or the idea behind it, but just because it is plain dumb.

If you add a little tax to gas for this stuff, the folks that USE the MOST gas PAY the MOST. There you go, a SIMPLE pay as you go scheme.
No one is putting a GPS in my car, they may NOT see where I go at what times and so on, it is invasion of privacy.

There's not that big of a funding gap because of electric cars. 1 person out of 10 thousand may have one... the reduction in fuel tax profits is because the cars are getting 35 or 40 mpg now instead of 15 mpg. If they want to raise revenue, they should just force the car makers to lower their efficiency

If you had a horse and buggy they'd still want to attach a GPS and charge you for your mileage.

Edit:

For those of you that say "They won't put a GPS in my car!" thats fine, they'll just send you a bill for 200k miles per year for private vehicles and 1million miles per year for a business vehicle. Knowing that you only drive 10-20k a year at most you'll be begging for a GPS.

Don't want to pay it?

I hear their collection agency is a bitch to deal with.

They will also make it standard equipment in all new vehicles.
