Destructive power of Shotgun vs AR 15 video

Don't particularly care for the video. They really fail to get their point across with the AR vs 12ga. It almost seems as if they're saying "Hey, ban shotguns, they're much more dangerous." They also say the shotgun is a much more effective and devastating weapon, putting more projectiles on target in a fraction of the time, yet they go on to say it's a poor home defense weapon in lieu of the slower, less powerful AR.

Nice sentiment, poorly executed, IMO.

I did a paper on this in college that focused on shootings which involved AK47s and 12 GA shotguns and their ballistics. I focused solely on California shootings since that was where they were all taking place back then and AKs were the big satan at the time; I added some data from the Vietnam War to give it more weight. My intent was to scientifically prove to my professor the so-called assault rifles were far less dangerous than a low tech pump action that was never on the ban list.

The numbers came out to a rough 16% mortality rate for victims of a 7.62x39 wound and a 68% mortality rate for victims of a 12 GA shotty when using standard buckshot. You look at the numbers and have to wonder why libs are so scared of mag-fed rifles. I know they can do math. Edited by TMF

We were watching this at work this week. Whether or not it proved anything, which I think he adequately covered the basics safely and illustrated to the unwitting who are on the fence a different perspective. This is very much a media war and it's good that there is a corporation like FF taking this stance and not reacting like Dicks Sports.

OK so it took longer to fire the AR than it did the shotgun. Maybe the chick with the AR could have pulled the trigger a little faster! I'm not impressed at all....didn't prove a thing.

Really, you don't think the novice or uninformed even those who have little to no shotgun experience or AR experience couldn't/wouldn't learn anything from that video.

I would rather have that guy be a spokesman for our rights than some of the loonies who are shooting off their mouths and making us all look bad.

Whether we agree/disagree with the video's content is irrelevant. He is preaching to the choir, not the congregation.

The ignorants and zealots on the anti-gun bandwagon are never going to see this kind of video. They don't want facts or statistics or truth of any kind, because it contradicts their knee-jerk emotional belief that military-style weapons are evil.

They get all their evidence that ARs and AKs are evil from Hollywood, where they're all fully auto, seldom miss, and everything they shoot explodes.

I think he probably sent a copy to that Senator and Representative, don't you?

He got his point across with ease audibly and visibly, and with very good taste, I might add.

What part is poorly executed?

I agree, rate of fire was rigged.  no way the cyclical rate was faster on that shotgun than the AR.  I do think he made a good point with the "projectiles on target" comparison
