Is there any difference between the hornady critical defense and the zombie max ammo? I have some critical defense for my lcp but they were out for the 45 so i purchased the zombie loads. Is one inferior to the other or is the plastic for the tip just a different color? Please help!!!

Do you have a source for this? Just curious. I've always heard they were the same except for the casing and tip color.

I have always heard they were the same, and have seen several youtube videos showing they performed the same.

Granted these are just some random person doing the "test".  I believe TNoutdoors was one of them.  (Tnoutdoors on youtube)

Seems to me it's just a way to charge more for the whole zombie craze.

I just got off the phone with Gary at hornday regarding the difference between critical defense and zombie ammo. He advised that the critical defense has the following features: nickel case, sealed primer, low flash power, reduced recoil.
The zombie ammo has the following features: brass case, unsealed primer, standard powder. He said the critical defense is a self defense ammo while the zombie ammo is a target ammo in their thinking. Hope this helps

And there we have it! Thanks for clearing that up.

Hah I love how they spin the weak power level as low-recoil.

I am a hornady fan, but a lot of their ammo, esp the crit defense lineup, is weak.

Well thanks for finding out and clearing that up. I've been completely under the assumption it's the exact thing with different colored tips, just like someone else had mentioned. This was also what I was told when I had asked about the difference at a store.

Looks like I need to find some for my .40, cause right now I have ammo for zombie defense.
