FL to TN

Recommended Posts

Good morning TGO's. I just signed up this morning. I moved to Nashville 3 years ago from Pensacola, FL and bought a home in Antioch 2 years ago. I'm relatively new to the gun scene, and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. I managed to get my HCP, buy my first handgun (FNX-9), wrote emails to my congressmen and political figures through Ruger's website, and started reloading, all this year. I guess I'm making up for lost time. I just bought my second gun last week (Remington 700 SPS Tactical AAC-SD) and I think my buddy and I are finally going to shoot it this afternoon. I work for FedEx, so I may come in handy to any frequent shippers on here ;). I also coach cheerleading and gymnastics in my spare time, so if any of you have daughters, and are looking for a great gym, let me know.

Since I'm writing this right now, I guess I'll post my first two questions. We may be going to the Montgomery County Shooting Complex today. I came across two websites that had two different closing times listed for them. One said 6pm. Another said "when it gets dark but no later than 8pm". I was curious as to which one is accurate.

The Cheatham County Wildlife TWRA range is a second option, but I read that you can't purchase tickets at the range? So where the hell do I buy them from? Ticketmaster?! I think it said to buy them from any TWRA facility, so do I get them from the Stones River range in Smyrna? That seems kind of backwards, but oh well. Looking forward to meeting some new shooters.

I haven't searched the boards yet, but may be looking to replace my Hogue stock in the near future, with an AICS or McMillan A5. So if anyone is trying to sell one, keep me in mind.

There is a small country store near the enterance to Cheatham that sells the passes. Someone will give to better directions or call the ranger there. Remember, there is no safety officer at Cheatham. It is self service safety. I reccomend Stones River as the best facility around.

I also moved here from FL. Hollywood, FL. Never spent anu time in the panhandle. Go Gators!

Howdy Brent and Welcome to TGO

As for MCSC closing time I am not sure, may be one or the other due to time of year. As for Cheatham I have brought the range passes from two different small stores near the WMA. One right at the entrance.

Welcome.
You can buy range passes for Cheatham at any place that sells hunting/fishing licenses. Grumpy's market is right near the entrance to the range. Smiley's market is back NE on the way from ashland city about 2-3 miles from Grumpy's, I believe they only take cash for the passes tho. Noon - dark at cheatham.

Must be a FL migration.  Moved to Knoxville after "serving" a year in Pompano Beach, FL.  Much nicer here.  I had missed the mountains and the four seasons.
