Maybe a dumb question, but how much water, and in what containers?

One 32oz metal nalgen, 1 24 oz water bottle, 1 24 oz sugar free power aid and 1 64 oz water bladder in the pack(usually not filled unless going on a long trip.

I plan on keeping my Scar 16 SBR in the trunk with me once my stamp comes back. Otherwise, in my bag, FNX 45 Tactical with the Osprey (stamp pending as well). Keep a G19 in the back with some extended mags for secondary pistol.

I've got a hard case similar to a Pelican by Gamewinner from Academy Sports that is locked with thick cables and pad locks in the pickup bed with a camper top that I put my Steyr Aug 3 or my new Tavor rifle in when I have to leave the truck for a little while. I keep them in front cab while driving in a 5.11 covert discreet case. Sometimes I carry the AR 15's. Edited May 6, 2013 by ThePunisher

But what if I have a truck and would sometimes have the gun in the truck but would possibly switch the gun over to the Mustang when I drive it?  Could it still be a truck gun even when it isn't in the truck simply because it is in the truck sometimes?  What about folks who don't have a truck but bought the gun from a guy who kept it behind the seat of his truck and, therefore, used it as his truck gun?  Would it still remain a truck gun due to its history and previous use as such?  I think it is important that we clarify these things - especially since I haven't really settled on a 'truck gun', yet, and would hate to choose a gun that refused to ride in a car on occasion.

if you need permission to call your vehicle a truck, albeit a purple truck ( ;)) I will go along with that.  A RAV4 or a sedan is not a truck is all I am saying.

ok,ok,ok,  What if there is a carving of a truck in the stock?  I think I will have my Bronco engraved into my Kel-Tec so it will always be a truck gun, even if it's in my wifes van.

So if it is sometimes in a truck but sometimes in a car and sometimes in neither (as in when it is being shot, hopefully) would that make it a part-time truck gun?

 

Is this like the guys who wear Harley-Davidson shirts but don't own a motorcycle?

 

Then, again, there are Harley-Davidson editions of some pickup trucks (Ford F-series, I believe) so would a gun being hauled around in one of those be a truck gun, a Harley gun or what?  Would it make a difference if the driver were wearing a Harley-Davidson t-shirt?

 

Oh, and what if the vehicle is a Ranchero, an El Camino or one of those Subaru Bahas?  Would that be a car gun, a truck gun or maybe something like a cruck gun?

I keep a high cap shotgun and a handgun in mine. One for if they are not right at my car (shotgun) and one if it is close quarters(handgun) like they are coming through the window.

Kel-tec SU-16 with folding stock. AR magazines, takes up a small amount of storage space. I have thought about switching to my 9mm Hipoint carbine though simply because it doesn't matter of it gets beat up Edited May 14, 2013 by KKing

Some people call rifles that are used to hunt deer "deer rifles."  So by that reasoning, can a gun be called a 'truck gun' if it isn't kept in a truck but is used to hunt/shoot trucks?

Honestly, my thinking is that the main reason I might want to keep a long gun in the truck is in case I find myself in a 'stranded/get home' situation.  To me, if 'they' are not all that close to my vehicle then in most instances I would choose to simply drive away rather than engaging in a firefight.  I am not saying that you are 'wrong' in your thinking and there may well be occasions where driving away might not be an option, just presenting a different view.
