Can tell you that you'll need to go by a state full service center to do it, not just any county DMV office,  and the only one in Knox County is the Strawberry Plains office, and you do NOT want to go there (long wait).

Even the gal at one of the Knoxville DMV satellite offices recommended I go to Maryville (Blount Co.)  or Clinton (Anderson Co.).

I went to the Maryville one, took about 45min to renew mine two weeks ago.

I assume you've got current DOT medical card.

If not, walk-in clinic in short West Knox does it for $55:

I can tell you one thing, you need to call and ask which documents that you'll need to bring. Then bring everything else. They are a pain in the *** when it comes to the documents. I would bring SS card, birth certificate, and at least a couple documents with your new address. I can't tell you how many people I know who've stood in line for a couple hours, only to be told to come back with the proper documentation.

Indeed!

And make DAMN SURE all your info is correct BEFORE you sit for the picture! (I was processed by a "supervisor" who was "in a hurry" and I ended up with a license that said I had Hazmat & tanker, but not doubles & triples and a few other "minor" mistakes - the codes for various endorsements differs from Ks. to Tn., but I didn't realize that at first - then, when I finally did catch the mistakes, AFTER I had already surrendered my Ks, license, but before I'd left the building, she blamed it all on a subordinate and it took three freakin' weeks to correct everything!)  :ugh:

The companies ive talked to seem pretty understanding, a few of the managers have been in the same position . I just love how many jobs there are here. montana is beutiful but there is alot less opportunity.
