Springfield XD Tactical VS Glock 35

I'm debating these two handguns for use in IDPA and USPSA. I will be using lead bullets so the Springfield has an advantage already. Just want to get some feedback from some of the more knowledgeable gunners on this subject.

I have never shot the Glock, but the XD Tactical is my current IDPA/everything gun.  I have a Powder River Precision Ultimate Match Trigger and Warren Tactical sights.  LOVE IT!

The only reason Im debating is because I spent so much time with a Glock 34 in my hands before I went the way of the 1911. But I'm wanting a 40 for uspsa major. I know the xds and Glocks are both fantastic firearms plus the xd is cheaper.

More expensive/ less common magazines and holsters greatly reduce any cost savings.

I have no problem getting magazines for the XD.  As for holsters, the only one to get for any gun is a Blade-Tech.

I went through same dilemma and ended up with both. I ended up selling the XDs and keeping the 26 and 34. BTW, I am a Glock basher, so I wanted to like the X'D more.

you've obviously never tried master-tac yet then lol. i like blade tech but master-tac is better than anything i have tried in my opinion.

I've owned XD and glock, both are dependable and shoot well. I prefer the XD.

I would choose the Glock because of the fact you can hold the Glock any way you want and it will still fire . With the XD , if the Grip-safety isnt engaged , it wont fire.  I have had both the XD and the Glock34 . And I have used a Glock in all kinds of positions that would hinder an XD from firing .

 I say go with the Glock.

i dont personally see the grip safety as an issue. i shoot single stack and cdp in competition so safties arent a big deal at all for me. Edited July 8, 2013 by dlmeadows

Yeah, I've never had a problem with a grip safety.  If you're not holding the gun well enough to engage the safety, you probably shouldn't pull the trigger IMHO.

I can't imagine any way I would grip a pistol to fire, that would not allow the grip safety to function.

Like I already said.....Glock 35. It is the plastic limited gun.

XD tactical is my favorite in the safe. If a glock and a 1911 had a baby it would be a XD.

I use the XD tactical in USPSA major with some modifications and it has not been a problem. I like my Glock 22 for limited but don't use lead cast bullets. I will probably replace the barrel with a Lone Wolf barrel to shoot lead reloads though. 

Get what you shoot the best.

thats exactly what i plan to do. im borrowing a glock to shoot a classifier with saturday, then i will borrow the xd to shoot one with. whichever has the fastest time and fewest points down will be what i end up buying.

I'm not going to make the shoot Saturday or I'd let you run my XD with the PRP UM trigger.
