Mac from Nashville

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I'm Mac from Nashville. I'm 26, was raised in gun shows by an LEO Dad. However, until last year I hadn't actually shot a gun since I was in 2nd grade (my dad was perm. disabled around then, and suddenly family priorities changed). When I finished college (Computer Programming) and moved back to Nashville, I took a CCW course to learn how to handle a pistol (ROTC taught me to handle a rifle well enough) but never actually sent in the paperwork to get my CCW (because it was expensive after just moving, because I was a lazy bum when it comes to paperwork being mailed off, and because I really don't carry, I just wanted to be able to shoot appropriately and for recreation).

Anyway, I recently went from a one gun house to inheriting a huge number of long guns and pistols. I'm going to keep some, but there's no way I can possibly justify having two extra-large gun safes full of guns. Since I know most of the guns are either antique or antique-ish (He collected antique .22 rifles among other things), where should I possibly start when it comes to slimming down the collection?

Obviously, I don't want to just ship them off to a pawn shop and I don't want to try and get an FFL to setup at gun shows. How do I know how to price them? Where could I find buyers interested in non-mainstream guns?

Hello Mac and welcome to TGO. I wouldn't be in a rush to slim down the collection until I found out what each piece was worth. Family heirlooms are sometimes hard to replace years down the road.--MP

Hi, Mac,

Welcome to TGO! (Recently new to TGO myself, south-ish Nashville.)

A friend I know has interests in .22 rifles. Twins on the way, wife shoots well, we talked about his acquiring for the on-the-ways, etc. If you really want to sell one or two, he might be someone who could be interested.

Welcome aboard Mac - You could sell some guns here - Also, you can sell them on the Smith & Wesson board. Put a fair price on them and you'll sell them in no time.
