I'm trying to find pictures of camouflaged guns that have seen lots of use and abuse for a project. Stuff that shows the wear through and scratches. Ive done some google searching, but figured some of you guys might already have some pics or a link to a thread on this or another forum. Thanjs guys

Give me a little while and i'll send you pics of mine when it wears lol. I sprayed mine a little while back but life hasn't let me shoot much in the last two months. I'm assuming that you like the "hell-N-back" and that's what you're getting ideas for? That's what I like so when I sprayed mine I decided to hold off on the clear coat for now. Once it gets to an acceptable level of beatupness I will spray it with a flat clear coat.

Im actually looking to try and replicate the "hell n back" without the wait for a display gun. For my personal guns I just beat the hell out of it till it looks right lol.

Gotcha, well if I were in a hurry and I wanted it to look fairly natural I would probably figure out what things a rifle would be in contact with in the real world and used those items to age it on purpose. I'm thinking sand, a fabric like cordura maybe and other things that the gun may come in contact with while hanging from a single point sling getting in and out of vehicles or crawling and hiding behind cover. The reason I mention getting creative and finding thing natural sources of wear is because I have seen some rifles that folks used steel wool or sandpaper to give the illusion of wear and it just ended up looking like someone did it on purpose. I'm not saying a good job cannot be done with steel wool but one of the best I've seen was done with things that an issued rifled finds itself in contact with. Best of luck with it.
Paint what ya got, meat tenderizer and go to work. Small link chain is next, them drag on some gravel and your are done.
Im really considering throwing it in the bed of the truck with some gravel and hauling ass down some of these logging roads. I wish I had pics of some of the ones I saw while I was in the Marines, some of the ones the MARSOC guys had were painted. I like the used look, but never thought about faking it until I started working with a shop and meet out theres a whole segment of people who want stuff to look "tacticool" or operator just for the heck of it. I always thought of it as being battle scars that were earned. But if it makes for a good disply piece, so be it. Thanks for l the help so far guys Tapatalk ate my spelling. Edited by Spots
