Aimpoint PRO Switch

Recommended Posts

Yeah, I'm referring to the intensity switch having a little play. The set screws seem to be tight and the switch has very positive clicks (it's just that the switch knob is a little loose). Bought it from Optics Planet. The box wasn't sealed and the battery was missing, but the sight looked fine.

EDIT: I just called John at Aimpoint and he said as long as the switch functions properly and there aren't any issues under fire, I should be good to go. I may just exchange it as the looseness will probably bug me in truth.

I've had to return more than one sight to optics planet because it was very obvious that it was a previously returned item. Apparently they give the returns a once over and if it still functions they offer it back up for sale. I've had windage and elevation screws with adjustment scratches, marred rail mounts, and fingerprints on lens.

I would exchange because you've already attached a stigma to it. I would have done the same.

Got the replacement today; much better  :pleased: . The product box itself wasn't sealed - there wasn't a sign of a sticker ever being put on the box from the factory - but all the components were included and the optic switch was much better. It still has a small amount of play, but that's probably normal (certainly will make using the switch easier with gloves on).

When I got mine the dot had a flair off to the 4 o'clock position, It looks like a comet.  I should have exchanged it but I didn't, I sent it to Aimpoint and they said they couldn't see it AFTER they sent it back to me.  Well after a bunch of back and forth no more sending it in for exchange as that ship had sailed.  Aimpoint said it was normal and as far as they were concerned my Pro was perfect..  It bugs the hell out of me.  I was real disappointed with their customer service.

Have you checked it by trying to take a pic with a camera? I can't enjoy using an aimpoint or eotech because of my astigmatism. Even "corrected" I get flares, they're minimized at low brightness and pop huge when turned up... but when I focus a camera on the dot and take a pic, they're clear as a bell.

For me, it's etched reticle or bust on red dots.

Oh, I did not know that.  I'll try that tomorrow.  Yes, it does really flare with the brightness.. I hope you are right because I really don't want to be mad at Aimpoint.

Will the tail of the flare stay in the same spot if I rotate the Pro?

Also go outside and focus through the red dot at an object further away. I bet the blooming/flare goes away or is greatly reduced. I only get that when I'm indoors and looking at a closer target than I would normally engage.
