Jackson Gun Shops

Recommended Posts

Looking for a little information guys. Here's the situation.

My brother-in-law and I may be in the East Memphis area, probably near the Bartlett side; soon for him to look at something. Are there any shops you'd recommend near there? Might need to do an FFL transfer, and generally looking for a safe meeting area if needed.

Thinking about stopping in Jackson on the way back. Any comments on local shops there?

As always, thanks for any help you could give.

Guns and Ammo on Summer has a selection that must be seen.

I've been by Robertson's twice.  Great store but a lot of the really good stuff is auction/internet only.  Seems like I heard a couple of years ago that they were internet only now.  Might want to call them and find out cause that place is definitely out of the way.

Arms Fair and Classic Arms are closest to that area of town and are within a couple of miles from each other... what are you looking for?

B-i-law is looking at a pistol he found on Armslist, and I'm really just along for the ride and backup.

Thanks for the warning. I'll have to call Robertsons and find out. I sure don't want to go that far out of the way and find it not open to the public. I really didn't think about it, but I have done several online orders from them, and it just hasn't come up.

But I will find out.

I will 2nd G&A....it is more in the middle of the city but maybe a 15min drive further than the 2 I've mentioned....I've bought 2 rifles from them in the last few months and both experiences were great...I've heard people mention numerous times that the employees at G&A had attitudes, but the people I have dealt with there were most helpful...

I haven't been there since I heard that (from someone here I'm sure) so do check and let us know what you hear.  Every once in a while I like to take the scenic route and that is a good detour.

Garufa, you are correct. I just called and was told it is net sales only now. No access unless you call ahead and are picking up an order you've placed with them. Still very open and friendly on the phone, but was told that the owner didn't "want to run 2 stores at once."

I did say I was sorry to hear that, as I was wanting to look at multiple items they had for sale, but if I couldn't do that I couldn't buy them. Not much difference than here I know, but in the case of imported handguns and what amounts to bulk trade in lots, I really prefer to see what I'm buying.

Ok, now that Robertsons is out. Any comments on Jackson area shops?

They used to be nicknamed "Guns and Assholes". Sounds like they could have wised up.

We give plant tours if you call ahead to arrange.

The CMT tour is pretty cool.  Robertson's is internet only unless you can finagle an appointment with them, I think the details were listed on their site at one time (it was a favorite hangout when I was a kid growing up there).  In Jackson, check out the Range USA store on Highland, has a good indoor range as well.  There's a newer shop on South Highland near Southside High School, can't remember the name offhand, as well as the usual multiple Pawn/Gun locations found everywhere.  If you choose to go north, there are a couple of good gunshops in and near Union City, Final Flight and L&A Firearms both have a large selection, not to mention Dixie Gunworks with tons of antique/repro black powder type stuff.

Last time I was in Krasners they were moving to the new location on N. Highland so the selection was down but they are great guys. I do transfers thru them and they have always been really nice. I go in Direct Hit about once a month just to look and fondle. They definitely have the best prices. They will even match a lot of internet prices. Last time I was in there they actually had a Barrett .50 bmg sitting on the counter. Definitely worth a visit. JTM We the People of the United States, in order to form a more Perfect Union...... OK guys, thanks for the comments. I do appreciate them. But the deal my brother-in-law was working fell apart; so I don't think we will be making that drive anytime soon.

Just a word of warning, if you are looking at a Belgian Browning Hipower from Memphis on Armslist; it appears to be another scam sale attempt.

I go a notification today from Armslist on it.
