Looking at the Ruger American and a Savage , comments ?

I have a threaded 10/22 and understand that the Ruger American will take it's magazines , a plus ....

I have a threaded Savage TRR-SR in .17HMR that is a tack driver ....

The ruger 77/22 also takes 10/22 mags, although a bit more expensive and nicer. Not threaded though, but could be.

well i would say the ruger then,the trigger alone is enough to pick it over the savage.thats not to say i dont like savage rifles,just that i like the trigger on the ruger american that much better.

I picked up an american rimfire before they released the threaded barrels. I must say It's a very accurate rifle and the adjustable trigger is awesome. I'm looking into getting the same rifle in .17hmr

Who here has a scope on one of these ? Wondering what size you have and how high of mounts you used...

I really like the Ruger rimfire a lot.  I want a threaded .22 bolt gun as a host for my Guardian .22 and they look like the most viable option going right now. The predator ones are particularly cool, they look pretty serious for a .22 :lol:

I traded into one of these w/o the threaded barrel, although a compact, with a  with another TGOr.  He had it in a Boyd's stock and had the OEM stock along with it.  The trigger had already been adjusted to about 1.75lbs.  Took it to a private range near Nashville.  Loaded it with std velocity ammo and shot some groups with a couple of other fellas. 

 

I have had a pile of bolt action .22 rifles and I like this one better than the CZs or the Anschutz I had.  There is something cool about a "low" priced great shooting .22LR rifle that appeals to my sense of cheapness/value:)  I put the barreled action back into the OEM stock because I took the OEM stock and leaned it on a step and stepped on it with quite a bit of weight and was surprised how rigid it was.  Too bad Savage doesn't have a RAR-like stock on their Bmags.  I am hoping to get the rifle to shoot as well with the OEM stock as it did with the Boyds.

 

Had to order the long LOP raised comb as this compact only had the short LOP butt stock pieces.  Another thing I like about the stock is its ability to go low or high comb depending on users optics or sighting wishes.  

 

Fortunately I have been able to accumulate enough bricks of CCI SV, Wolf, SK, Eley and some other std vel ammo to give this thing a work out this spring. 

 

I have to parrot what one online reviewer mentioned is that it is strange that Ruger didn't or couldn't develop the RAR with the same rail screw hole pattern as the 10/22 and didn't allow for a quick change of the barrels.

Heck, 3 more shades and you'll have a patio cover to hide under.

 

Man, that makes me want one. But with all the 22s I have now, and a TB Savage(I forget the model at the moment).

 

The RAR is just beautiful.
