Welcome Home! One way shooting ranges are SO much nicer than two way. Give a shout if you want info on places to shoot, reloading, local matches or anything else.

Sticky sugar splatter from soda will attract bugs if you care. Diet doesn't though.

+1 Easier to hit with than a pistol, bottomfeeders won't accuse you of going Rambo. Can you operate it with one hand while the others calling the cops?

Para Ordnance has done lots of unit pistols for Fort Campbell units, not sure what the minimum is. I believe they've been using Gun and Knife Country as the local FFL. Last deal I know of for 1/101 was Para Night Tac (sp?) double stack .45 w five magazines for under $800. Once you set up the model and what you want engraved individuals order directly from Para and it gets shipped to local FFL. Good Hunting!

+1 FWIW, I've not had good luck with S&B pistol brass. Ones I've seen had very little radius at the mouth of the primer pocket, making crunched primers a very real possibility unless you swage the pocket. They may have changed design of brass recently. If you get to the point where you want to buy just brass Starline makes excellent stuff and since they sell direct to the customer prices are very good compared with others.

Looking for some good/cheap 148 gr HBWC in 38 special

+1 I personally taper crimp just enough to take out bell plus one to two thousanths. Loads are so light you don't have to worry about bullets jumping the crimp if the case is resized properly. Good Luck! -

Have you tried Zero? Roze Distribution: 38 SPECIAL (.357 DIAMETER) Under $80/k shipped to your door. If they are out of stock or you still only want 500 to start I may be able to hook you up. -
I've never heard of a pump gun having problems feeding light loads.

Only real advantage of flips is that when it's 100 degrees you have that much less clothing to trap heat

TWO July IDPA Matches in Bowling Green, KY
Dave Shooter replied to GaryXD's topic in Competitive Shooting Sports
Yes, a shirt or vest that covers your pistol and reloads is the "cover garment". Different clubs may or may not enforce the cover requirement at their matches, especially if it's hot. -
Steel match for pistols, shotguns for fun

For the gentleman who was asking at the match about loading gate for Rem 1100: INSTALL: Dave's Metal Works Easyloader - Remington 1100 12ga (56k BEWARE!) - Page 1 - AR15.COM Remington I believe using an RCBS large decap pin will prevent the breakage talked about in first link. Thanks! -
8rnd mags not working in 1911?
Dave Shooter replied to Backon4's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Nash is correct, the original box length is for 7+1. The different methods of squeezing 8 in the tube have met with varying success. The MCM/Shooting Star follower designed by Devel compresses to allow that 8th round. Some of the newer 8 round designs do away with a fixed floorplate and have the baseplate attached to a slightly longer tube allowing 8 rounds. These will stick out the bottom of a stock gun a bit, if that matters for your use. My advice would be to hit up your buddies for as many different types of new or like new (they do wear out) 8 rounds mags as you can and see what works in your gun with your ammo. Hilton Yam has an excellant article on 1911 magazines and what can go wrong with them. 1911 Magazines -
"It depends." Impact velocity, barrel twist and bullet construction all factor into whether a bullet will fragment, expand, tumble or drill a needle hole through. Match bullets are generally designed and manufactured to produce tight groups on paper with little to no consideration towards terminal effect.

Giraud. $$$, but fantastic for large volume rifle case trimming. I keep a Lyman for low volume odds and ends.

Sorry, I do not.

Emailed them: " Hi Dave. It is true, we do not operate a public showroom anymore. However, we will still sell across thr counter as long as a person calls ahead with what they want. Thanks."

The early version of 7.92x57 (8mm Mauser) I think had .318 bore. Bullets from mold for that ought to size down nicely.
