  1. Well....I'd buy Nsnates Saiga AK that he's got for sale here......boy I wish I had an extra grand layin around
  2. I think the 7.62 x 39 round would be quite sufficient to take down a deer.
  3. Any mothers here teaching or planning to teach your children about gun safety and how to shoot? My son will be 4 in a couple months and right now I'm working on gun safety rules with him. Kind of just letting him get used to guns being around and explaining their dangers and uses, and how they should be handled safely. I'm hoping that by next spring/summer I can start him out with a bb gun, and move up from there. I'm curious if any of you ladies will be the ones teaching your kids how to shoot.....or maybe some of you already have and can give me some good pointers.
  4. I ordered some paint from brightsights.com last week. You guys gave me some interesting options, but I decided to go with the brightsights because it's cheap and I can use it on several of my guns. I really liked the looks of the XS sights, but I've spent way too much money on guns and accessories lately......maybe in the future I'll get some of those for the AK. I'll let you all know how I like the brightsights after I get them. I think I'll try them on my AK and my two snubbies.

  8. I carry my J-frame in one too....I can't even tell I'm carrying. I can get mine out pretty darn quick too...as long as you don't have it under a tucked in shirt it's easy & fast to draw.
  9. I carry my Glock 27 in mine.....but I use a Saf-T-Blok behind the trigger.
  10. 12's are good for large game too. I've killed many deer using 12 gauge slugs and a few of those were 80-100 yd. shots. I just saw some new Brenneke slugs that claimed to be able to take down moose at over 100 yds......and I believe they could with good shot placement.
  11. Todd, is brake cleaner really safe to use on Glocks? I've always heard that it can damage or discolor the polymer.....so I usually buy the expensive polymer safe gun scrubber for my Glocks. So should I save money and just buy brake cleaner for all my guns?
  12. #1 - 12 gauge pump shotgun, however you like it....tac, hunting, etc. Without a doubt, the most versatile and useful long gun there is #2 - .22 lever action rifle with a nice scope Perfect first rifle to learn to shoot with, and a super fun & cheap plinker #3 - .357 magnum revolver with a 4-6" barrell The most versatile revolver, .357 mag for home defense & hunting, .38's for target shooting and plinking. Great first pistol for a novice. Everyone should have at least one wheelgun! #4 - A fine semi-auto handgun of your choice, and mine would be a Glock For concealed carry and home defense #5 - Your choice of an AR-15 or an AK-47 Just because!
  13. If you haven't bought one yet, I just found this one at SportmansGuide and they make them for an AR or an AK.....I'm going to order one for my AK. They look pretty nice for the $ http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/cb.aspx?p=KX8KW&i=145264 *UPDATE: DO NOT BUY THIS CASE!!! The quality sucks and I'm sending mine back today.
  14. Some of the best gun stats I've ever read were done by John Lott. Google him. I think you'll like what you read.
  15. I've used belly bands for years, they're great. The worst part is that they can be hot when it's warm....but an undershirt will help. Be careful when you sweat because the belly band will absorb your perspiration and get on your gun. I still have one of the original Action Direct ones, and I also have a DeSantis. I personally like the ones that have a strap that goes over the gun....some models don't have that. I checked out the one you're looking at...seems like a nice one. It's also more comfortable to wear one that has the gun pouch on one side and the mag pouches on the other, vs. right next to eachother....it helps to distribute the weight more evenly and doesn't cause it to sag down. There's several different brands/styles of belly bands for sale on eBay you may want to check out.
  16. saintsfanbrian, Those are pretty girls you have there. Shepherds are great dogs for sure. I usually go back and forth between them, rottweilers, and boxers. I have a female shepherd that looks just like the one I just lost, but she's much smaller. Nitro went almost 100 lbs. before he started losing weight near the end. I'd say my girl Katie is about 65 lbs. or so. Katie was given to me recently by a friend that couldn't keep her anymore, she's very smart and sweet. She's only 2, so what I'd like to do is find a big male shepherd to breed her to, and then keep a male puppy. I know you can never replace a good dog (I've tried that and learned the hard way that it doesn't work), but for me, it has always helped to get a new pup after I lose one. I don't look at a new pup as a replacement for the one I lost, but as a new start of another great friendship. Saintsfan, when it's your Nikki's time to go, just remember that she lived a good long life. You'll never forget her and there'll never be another dog like her.....but you will have more good dogs that there will never be another one like too Thanks to everyone for the kind words.
  17. Very nice!
  18. So someone tell me about Norris Range. How much does it cost to shoot there? Any females going?
  19. Grimel, if I can get a babysitter I just might do that. Do you have the XS sights on one of your rifles?
  20. That XS looks interesting.....just wish I could see them on a rifle before I spend $120. So, the front bead glows, but the rear doesn't? Are they easy to install?
  21. Thanks Tungsten. I'm pretty depressed tonight. I hardly ever drink, but tonight I'm drinking a few Corona's. Nitro and I shared a lot of good times together, and he was quite special. I guess I should be thankful that he lived a good long life, considering most large German's are lucky to make it to 10 yrs. old. That is a very nice looking Dobe Tungsten....looks like a big teddy bear That's one of the breeds that I've been thinking about getting. I want either another German Shepherd, a Rottweiler, or possibly a Dobe. I just want to be sure to get one with a good temperment and that will be good with my son. I think I'll start checking out the local animal shelters.
