  1. Is there a possibility that this will replace your G19?
  2. http://www.thebostonchannel.com/news/13860078/detail.html I know the knee-jerk response might be that this is a panic-driven, unreasonable action... but in all actuality, I think it's a pretty good idea. I don't carry a back-pack, but I certainly would consider buying a BP brief-case, or a rifle-plate for my lap-top bag... And if I had a child, I would want them to have the best means of survival possible while they are too young to carry their own firearm. Thoughts? Who all here owns a BP vest, or something else like this? Do you take it with you often enough for it to be useful in an unexpected situation? I don't, but I'm seeing advantages to that kind of preparation.
  3. Actually, some canucks do have guns legally... matter of fact, it's alot easier for them to get short-barreled shotguns and such. It's handguns and ebrs that require so much red-tape. Very much like Australia. They're not quite Great Britain... but they are closer in many ways than the US.
  4. Aye, my shoulder needs a good thrashing again It's fully recovered from the tube of slugs I rapid-fired out of the mossy...
  5. I agree with Mars. I don't have stats, but just going by the number of news stories I've seen over the years, far more people have died for want of a means of self-defense in a resturaunt than died because there was one present in the hands of a responsible person.
  6. Joe, My only regret is that I placed that bid on impulse, instead of checking with you first about one of the Yugo (?) M44s (I later discovered) that you have in the store . I am cancelling my GunBroker account, and I called them yesterday to cancel the order... they had already shipped it unfortunatly, but their feedback will certainly reflect my dissatisfaction. This past week has been one of screw-ups and dissapointments on my part... And I'll be up there, hopefully today, to pick up this one, and talk to you about another situation which I hope to make amends to you for. Thank you guys for your patience.
  7. I agree with Dave, the heart of the problem is within every individual... our society now exhibits a marked lack of personal responsibility. Banning guns, or any other object, will not affect the disposition of some people to do evil, or simply be irresponsible.
  8. I didn't think that miners could purchase guns?
  9. I do conceal... when it's appropriate. I certainly recognize and advocate that there are many occassions for CC to be more appropriate, and have no issue doing so.
  10. Champagne tickles my nose... I'm a JD Single-Barrel guy, when/if I drink. Generally, I'll take a beer if I'm eating a leisurely meal.
  11. How did you know!? For the record, it is my impression that there are just as many law-abiding folks in this state who are on the fence, or unaware, that they can take steps to legally carry a firearm, as there are folks who are vehemently against it. One of the more frequent responses I get when I OC (if there is any response at all), is along the lines of: "Is that legal?... yes?... What do I need to do to carry?..." I was once that inquiring person, having seen a gentleman carrying a Walther P99 openly in a business I worked at when I was home one summer... And look at me now! There are potential negative and positive effects from doing anything controversial... All that I try to be is a visible, positive influence.
  12. Nope... I called them, and they just shipped it today
  13. Isn't/wasn't the L85 made by Enfield? Are there even any transferrable or semi-auto copies on this side of the Atlantic? Regardless... The A1 version was purported to be plagued with reliability issues, I wouldn't put it in the top 10 of any list. The A2 was 'fixed' by H&K, and was reported to be better. H&K seems to get alot of business fixing other manufacturer's designs...
  14. In that case, there may be some requirement for an armed security guard certificate, perhaps?
  15. Well, it seems to me that the company is simply using the security measures which were previously available to them, but were not fully implemented (door locks, card-swipes, etc...). I'm not sure what extent of liability the company has to provide for your safety, but if they prohibit you from being able to defend yourself, and something happens which harms you in a manner which you could have had a better chance of preventing if you were allowed to (absent their faulty policy) I'd be surprised if you didn't have a case.
  16. For the sake of argument; what would be the response to a long-arm without a safety? For example, what if Glock decided to finally get into the carbine, rifle, or shotgun market... who would be comfortable with such a design only incorporating the type of action which is found on their pistols? Would you keep a round chambered? I don't use the safety on my HD shotgun (of course, I don't keep a shell chambered, either)... But if I ever had the need to carry around such a weapon, loaded, I would unquestionably desire a manual safety. Thoughts?
  17. terminology has been corrected... And I voted for the AK47, because I have an AK-variant. It suits the needs I intend for it.
  18. I'm actually still hoping to come... it really just depends on ohter things which may take up my schedule.
  19. It would be adviseable to have some proof that you are acting on his behalf... but IANAL.
  20. Heaven forbid that a news agency actually get their facts and terminology straight... Heh! As to the story, I didn't see it, but if the shooter did fire at retreating BGs, he should pay the penalty for doing so... But, if he fired while they were potentially an immediate threat to him while attempting to steal the vehicle, and within the curtilage of his home, and they subsequently ran... I see no issue. If it was a 40mm... I can't believe that he missed!
  21. Maybe it will show up today...?
  22. If the purpose is visibility, how is there any difference? Where has such an outcry against OC ever occurred, causing the result you speak of?... Virginia is the best example, and the effect has been the opposite.
  23. Since an 'assault rifle' is select-fire by definition... I cannot answer, because I own no class III weapons. The 'best' one depends on the intended use.
  24. What if 165,000 permit holders open-carried in their own communities all the time, AND take it to the Capitol...?
  25. Welcome to the forum, Jon! You'll find a very diverse range of participants, points of view, and senses of humor here... But when it all comes down, we're just here to have fun, learn some things, maybe do some trading, and collectively promote responsible gun ownership. Do you happen to open-carry that Glock? Enjoy!
