  1. I have no complaints about any of the 4 Sigs I have owned, or the many others I have fired. It was simple preference for other styles which made me drift away from them. I've often pondered getting another, but like Glocks there's always something else which fills the specific role I need more closely. Sigs are certainly one of the makes/models, such as Glock and the 1911, which are universally held as the standard by which others are compared.
  2. Pretty much... I'd say more like 27 rounds of .22magnum at the same time though, considering the lower velocity. If somebody would come up with a 2500-3000fps #4 buck load, they'd have my business! But, would probably have to reduce the number of pellets to 15 or so to keep from dislocating shoulders... For comparison, a normal 000 Buck load is similar to discharging 8 .380acp rounds at once...
  3. Browning Buckmark.
  4. I've never tried it for myself to verify, but duplex loads that extreme wouldn't tend to pattern very well. I bet a duplex mix of #4 Buck and 00 Buck would work pretty well though. For myself, I have always found that Federal Tactical loads pattern the best. I've always wanted to try some Dead Coyote HeviShot 00 Buck and T-shot...
  5. Double-Tap makes a good carry load for the .38spl. But for plinking Georgia-Arms & Atlanta Arms are good and cheap. Sometimes you can find some surplus M41 ball ammo really cheap (I cleaned up last year, 500rd for $70 from jgsales.com).

  7. Tennifer is a really hard durable finish. Unless you want a different look, it's probably the best option.
  8. I'd suggest a double-action .22lr revolver. Maybe a .357/.38 DA revolver. After that get your semi-auto fix with a .22lr and then a 9mm.
  9. They do best in revolvers... since they will not cycle a semi-auto, but you can do so by hand. Personally... If I've got to be within a few feet of a snake to hit it with that stuff, I may as well just use a JHP.
  10. .045" diameter difference, actually. And when dealing with expanding projectiles that doesn't constitute a major difference. But, don't forget that the frontal area of the projectile is a squared function... which means that even though the diameter difference is only a few percent, the nominal frontal area difference is far more significant. KE is a biased measure of a bullet's destructive power which is constrained to the properties of the media which it strikes... a more suitable universal measure would be MV over frontal-area, which would truly provide a better comparison of the potential and distribution of 'work' which projectiles could perform upon a given medium. At least in terms of most handgun ballistics, anyways, since hydrostatic shock-waves are a major factor in the wounding potential of higher velocity rifle projectiles... and those are best predicted by KE. All in all, yes, what matters most is where the bullet strikes on any given day and whether it can plow through enough flesh. But all that being equal, there certainly is a difference in the efficiency of higher 'power' rounds to incapacitate more quickly, physiologically. The biggest variable in incapacitating humans is not just physiology... but psychology as well.
  11. Yes, it will severely hamper you in stages which consist of 6 round strings (most do). I am personally eyeing the 8-shot .357mag wheelguns by Taurus and S&W, so I can foray into revolver gaming and have a good HD gun too.
  12. Maybe a bullpup semi-auto, such as a Walther G22.
  13. That sounds good to me. The 17th it is.
  14. That sounds like the kind of place which deserves the business of TGO for an Eat & Shoot...
  15. Yeah, that one is disturbing... because somebody died. It's simply proof that human error exists, and accidents do happen. That's why we all have insurance. However, and I'm not defending Front Sight or Piazza's reputation, but judging somebody based solely on whether or not they've ever been sued isn't really fair or realistic. I have no doubt there's some basis for the reputation Frontsight and Piazza have, but IMO these suits are not it. On the other hand, his influence has been well directed in several areas such as arming airline pilots and forwarding the idea of armed school employees. Yeah, the Scientology bit is a little weird, but as far as I've seen he doesn't tout himself as some badass who will turn his students into hardcore operators... he offers training at many levels. So, ehhh... Until I'm presented with some evidence for some valid character issue, Front Sight and Ignatius Piazza will be given the benefit of the doubt. If there is such evidence which I have not seen, I'd like to see it, but I'm not going to jump to any conclusions...
  16. I like Federal Tactical 00 Buck, but I've also got a couple boxes of Steel 1 1/4oz Federal T-Shot (slightly smaller than #4 Buck), which is good for low penetration requirements and large/medium-size pests.

  18. I agree with that. .32NAA might be an even better choice...
  19. If the 10th were to be a popular date, I think we should have the Meet & Shoot in Winchester/Tullahoma. Unfortunately the 10th wouldn't work for me personally, either way, since I'll be in Atlanta.
  20. Can't blow up those Marines... it just pisses 'em off.
  21. I've currently got one of these (never used it though). It's actually StrickJ's but it hasn't made it to him yet... But, from what I can tell from feeling it seperate from a gun, it is flexible enough to probably absorb alot of recoil, but I'd be hesitant to rest my cheek on it when shooting... it might leave a mark. It's good quality though, and would be very useful on a vehicle gun, for instance. But don't expect to be able to bash anything in with it.
  22. It's definitely a grey area... but if the definitions of those features are strictly technical, then and AR pistol such as this (but in 9mm instead of .223) wouldn't really be disqualified: The buffer tube is technically not a shoulder stock... hence their designation as a pistol, even though that extension is usable to get a cheek weld. And it's wouldn't be bad at all to run with no handguards, simply use the magazine as the grip for the off-hand. And use 20rd 9mm mags...
  23. I voted for the 17th, but the 18th would also work for me.
