  1. That's one way to put your eye out.
  2. It represents that they are in your 'friends/contacts' list.
  3. Maybe that's the problem... one of the admin is a damn yankee.
  4. I'd be lying if I said that I've never been out of line. And I have been held, and have held myself, to the same standard as I enforce... because that's what I think Tungsten intended for TGO to be, as Boom alluded to, a self-regulating membership. But, we all know that somebody's got to have some teeth with which to enforce the rules. I didn't ask for this role, and as such I have/will never treat any other member differently than I would expect if the roles were reversed, because someday they might. If anybody has an issue with how policy is enforced, send me a pm. No need to let an opinion fester until a house-cleaning thread comes along
  5. As Mars said, this was not at all about perception, it was about the law, and the liability TGO might face from sponsoring a profitable game of chance. That's it, period. The lack of details on this incident was intended simply to draw less attention to the member involved. There is nothing more to tell about it than anyone could research in the TCA gaming laws, or by consulting an attorney for themselves. The raffle is still active on several other forums, just not here. As to general 'PCness' of TGO... that's a valid opinion, of course, but after checking for myself, there are remarkably few posts/threads which have ever been deleted, and barely a handful of 'Infractions' handed out (and very few more warnings). On the other hand, there have been many, many trolls show up who have been dealt with... many unbeknownst to most of you... so don't assume that the stated rules of conduct which are enforced are not enforced for the reason of being effective and even-handed for the good of the members and the perception of TGO to the community and prospective members. If you feel that you have been censored, please contact me by pm and I will be very reasonable in discussing it. As far as I am aware, the only area which is more or less strictly enforced is the Vendor area... and for obvious reasons.
  6. I am aware that he saw me and the mrs. at the show, and you can bet that the last thing that I wanted to do was potentially disrupt the mood at his booth by having an uncomfortable meet & greet right there. I was just trying to put myself in his shoes... And as I alluded to before, how I feel personally about Frank has nothing to do with the necessary measures regarding the issues of TGO. So, I'd appreciate less accusation regarding my personal relationship with Frank vs. my duty to the TGO community. The hardest thing about the whole deal was knowing that there would be personal consequences... but I'll be damned before anybody accuses me of being ashamed of doing what was necessary (which was apparently legitimate, as you noted). I can't heal TGO's relationship with Frank, he has to want that to happen. But there's no doubt that I'll do whatever is necessary to initiate some healing personally, once this issue has passed. I really don't think that's anybody else's business though. I was about to buy a few tickets myself before becoming aware of the legal aspect, and am far more disappointed in the idiotic laws of this state than I am in ETS's attempt to provide an awesome opportunity to get NFA toys. Trust me when I say that I personally researched every possible way for it to have been legal in an attempt to help, because I thought it was a great opportunity if doable. It couldn't have worked, and I'm in no position to place liability on TGO over a personal loyalty. It's tough, but it's time to move on.
  7. Dang, well there goes my plans for the evening...
  8. Their SD ammo is first rate as well... I've begun to buy it instead of Double-Tap. I can get 200rd of 115gr +p+ 9mm or 125gr .35sig for half to a quarter as much as the big names, and it's loaded to high velocity with Speer Gold Dot bullets.
  9. In my experience: 9mm - 500rd - 100% .357sig - 3000rd - 100% .45acp - ~600rd - 98% (had a few cases fail to feed in my wife's Rock Island 1911, maybe a dozen... every other brand has been 100%)
  10. Happy Kubuntu user here. I have to deal with Windows products at work though, with Vista specifically coming in the next few months
  11. $10 each was a bit steep... but my wife found a holster she wanted. It certainly seemed more full than any other time I've been, but I noticed that fewer of the vendors had guns. The majority was jerky, jewelry, airsoft and knives.
  12. Frank is a good fellow who has given much to the firearms community here, so none of the administrative actions taken to distance TGO from the raffle should be construed as a reflection on Frank or ETS, only on the raffle itself. He is welcome here as a member, and we would be pleased to have him participate here. I personally enjoy reading his posts, and knowing him... but it's understandable if he doesn't wish to be active here, I didn't visit his booth at the gun-show today out of uncertainty and respect for his feelings towards TGO, as much as I wanted to. I sincerely hope that relationship heals. In light of that, it would be better to abstain from discussing that specific raffle, since it is intentionally no longer a TGO issue.
  13. After visiting the gun-show today, and being able to fondle at length one of the new FNP-45s, I have made my decision to get one of those. And this is not a 'pick my gun for me' thread (otherwise I'd have posted a poll)... I was just looking for comparative input from those who had owned any of the 4 which I was considering.
  14. Glad to have you! Nice to see you're from my neck of the woods, where do you usually go to shoot? BTW, the spell checker is a small icon on the upper right of the editor window.
  15. This is very similar to the recoil management system of an H&K P7.
  16. Possession is only prohibited in a building open to the public which serves alcohol for on-site consumption. Parking lot, sidewalk out front, even on an outer deck/patio is ok technically.
  17. A black-powder pistol is legally not a 'firearm'... That would be one loophole which I could imagine.
  18. < < < < This guy is jealous. Congratulations and Happy Birthday!
  19. Wars have been fought over (in part) petroleum... this doesn't shock me much. Nothing good ever comes of placing a value on human life (ie, the cost of a tank of gas).
  20. For the sake of appearances, let's just assume that this O'Charleys is in Alabama (which allows carry in resturaunts which serve)... and the primary concern is an unattended firearm being stolen. I'd carry whatever is most practical to carry at all times.
  21. Or a 10-shot N-Frame...
  22. ^^^^^^^^^^^ I like the idea of this cartridge too. I'd be very inclined to pick one up myself, though I'm sure we'd both prefer a J-frame. A chamber reamer for a .32h&r lever-action rifle to accept this cartridge would be nice, too... It would be one helluva varmint caliber.
  23. Isn't the whole reason for professional competitive sports simply to determine who picks up the tab?
  24. Between the two, I'd say the 345 is the better pistol since it is lighter and has better ergonomics... both have equal accuracy, from the limited experience I've had with either of them. Probably the reason why you don't hear much about the P90 anymore (not to mention the P97).
  25. Jeez, I didn't even think a place like that existed... I guess I should have searched on it. That's hilarious and sickening at the same time.
