What you shoot at (as long as it's safe), and where you shoot it are not range etiquette issues... those are PC issues. Range ettiquete issues are things like: - Setting up your loud-boomer magnum in the lane next to the father and child learning to shoot a .22 - Sweeping the firing-line with the muzzle of the gun you were just firing, after experiencing a jam (or any other time) - Handling your weapon while the range is cold - Being inconsiderate of where your brass is landing etc...

Once I see which days pan out better for us, I'll swap up the poll with some different dining options for that day, and perhaps as the date draws near enough to get and extended forecast, we can look at an outdoor range.

I'll take 15... make a full 'clip'.

cellphones are better than a handgun
molonlabetn replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
That's like saying that the pen is mightier than the sword... It depends on how you look at it. The cell-phone and pen's effectiveness are both determined by the chosen response which other people make to their useage. But, a weapon's effectiveness is dependant upon the performance of the user and itself. I'd wager that more people have died for want of a weapon, than for want of a means of communication... especially in this day and age. -
Added the Gunsmithing/Troubleshooting section. Folks who use the 'New Posts' link to navigate won't be affected at all, but it will be much clearer for people posting new threads about gunsmithing, modifications, and technical issues with their guns, to know where to do so.

Unload the pistol, place it in the case, make sure your magazines are empty and the ammunition is seperate. That will meet the requirement for the gun to not be loaded.

You can opt to have a specific amount taken out of each paycheck... if your income is fairly stable year-to-year, then it's simply a matter of dividing your tax liability plus the amount you'd like to get back, by the number of paychecks you'll recieve.

Anyone use a Saf-T-Block for your Glock?
molonlabetn replied to PackinMama's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I've heard good things about the combination of the 3.5# disconnector and the NY2 trigger spring... it's supposedly slightly heavier, but also very smooth. I'm no expert on Glocks though, just passing on info. -
Glad to have you! You're definitely in the right spot.

Tennessee and N.I.C.S. background check
molonlabetn replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
As long as we're talking about the way it should be... I don't think that permits should be necessary at all, anyways... it creates the same separation from 'normal folks' rights as the idea that only law-enforcement should carry weapons. Sure, run a bg check on retail firearms... It's not a huge hassle for anybody who doesn't have a blemished record, and as long as it doesn't link a serial-number to an individual in a BATFE database, it's not 'registration'. It is pretty much universally accepted that since plenty of convicted felons are deemed by the authorities to be worthy of being allowed to walk among us, there needs to be some way to verify that they can't buy firearms legitimately. If felons actually served their time, and were disallowed reentry into society until their debt was paid and their record expunged, there wouldn't be a need for 'background checks', either... they certainly don't reduce crime, they simply indicate it. -
The XD and M&P are different that a Glock, in that their slides must be fully rectracted in order to activate the take-down lever... The Glock's slide can be removed without being forced to see the empty chamber. All M&Ps have a sear-deactivation lever which allows disassembly without pulling the trigger... which is required of both the Glock and XD.

Time to kick this one off! Lets go ahead and get the date and location nailed down early, options are above, suggestions can be added.

I wouldn't expect the cost of metals to go down, and surplus only gets more and more scarce as it is bought up and used. It'd be a good idea to buy as much as you'd like to have in the event that you'd need it to survive for awhile, and just rotate it out as you buy more and shoot some. We'll always buy ammo, whether it goes up or down in price.

Wow! Very nice. I can't think of a better 12th Birthday present...

Heh... No need to suck up, I only moved those couple forums around so that topics would be easier to find. If it's not an improvement, I want to know (I can take it)... It's you guys & gals that make this forum what it is, so your opinions are of greater value than mine, seriously. As a side-note... I've noticed that there have been quite a number of troubleshooting/gunsmithing threads in several different areas. Does anyone have trouble finding them, or finding the best place to pose their question? I've been wondering if a separate area for Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting would be worth creating... I know that there would be a ton of threads that could be migrated into one. Opinions? My objective is to keep the forums and threads as organized and user-friendly as possible, to help Tungsten, but we don't need a bazillion different categories, either... Suggestions?

That's pretty cool looking...

The great holster search begins...

Comp-Tacs are well regarded, and the Don Hume 711/721 series is very comfortable. -
Would you help round up guns?
molonlabetn replied to sigmtnman's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Urban areas would be screwed, undoubtedly... But the rural areas would be impossible to comb for firearms in a forced confiscation. -
KRISS .45 Cal submachine gun

I like the Magpul folding unit better. -
When I added a forum today (NFA) I changed the order of a few of the others, so that similar forums would be listed together... It can be reverted easily if it causes problems, it was a minor change.

I'm sure that was due to the widespread use of the Garand rifle, since it did use clips. It was proper terminology for the era.

All of the reports which I have seen, private and official, have shown that SS192 and SS195 will not penetrate Level III... some will penetrate Level IIIa (which is soft armor), but only under certain conditions.
