I've only got one 9mm... and it's mostly a range gun (XD-9 5" with trigger job, etc...). But I did buy some JHP ammo from Georgia Arms just to have in case I needed or wanted to carry it or use it for home-defense. 100rd of 115gr +p+ new ammo, with Gold-Dot projectiles is $41: http://www.georgia-arms.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=2581 1300fps is cooking, and they function great in the XD... they feel light after shooting the .357sig, but are pretty stout in their own right, for a 9mm. I'd say that Gold-Dot is pretty near the top of the food chain in terms of bullet designs, and carrying that much energy would get the job done as well as any. And they cost 1/3 the price of buying factory Speer Gold-Dots in the 20rd boxes... Double-Tap makes some even stouter loads, that really turn the 9mm on.

Good job! (moved to Show and Tell so this won't get lost amongst the non-firearm stuff)

I've been swept by the muzzle of a hot weapon a couple of times... it didn't feel good. I'm sure that folks who work in gun-shops or as instructors are put in the line of fire quite regularly. It's simply a matter of education, some people are unfamiliar with the safe handling of any device, be it guns, cars, scissors, etc... I only get confrontational when I know for sure that the person should know better, otherwise a courteous reminder of the safety rules, or to pay attention, is the best tactic. I don't think it's possible to be too safe, but it is possible to be anal about it to the point of ruining the shooting experience.

G. Gordon Liddy's wife owns firearms legally, and keeps them in their house. Possession is one thing, being in the same room or building with a firearm possessed by another person is different. It would be a sticky situation, still though.

Hi Nancy, welcome to TGO! On of our sponsoring vendors holds NRA and HCP classes in Oak Ridge... they have a class coming up on March 8th: http://firearmsclasses.com/class_schedule.htm Phantom6 is the resident instructor involved in this training school. You can contact him here, or call the school at (865)483-1108 and mention that you are a TGO member. Enjoy!

Merged with existing Magpul FMG thread, and moved to NFA forum for relevance.

That's awesome...

The picture of the K-T actually shows up close to actual size, on my screen... Hmmm, a P7, eh...? I'd love to have one of those.

Anyone Watch "Colbert Report"?
molonlabetn replied to The Rabbi's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I'd be sceptical of their intentions... I'd say, take a sense of humor with you, and perhaps even prepare a few funny jabs at them to interject. -
The shotgun is really awesome... I dare say it's put together better than my old Benelli M1S90. I can't wait to shoot it. The Kel-tec is pretty much what I expected. I need to go get some .380 ammo, I totally forgot to buy some when I left Hero-Gear...

We need to put together a Southern Mid-Tn shoot, so you Chattanooga folks don't get left out...

Their extinction is beginning to make more and more sense...

After, of course, filling out the proper paperwork for the BATFE's approval...

It's possible, but I would expect that unless significant content from the TNDoS's tape was included, that is not likely.

The law... and possibly structural issues which might make that noisemaker unsuitable for real ammunition.

As a new P3AT owner... I'm very interested to see what happens to the Ruger entry.

Tennessee and N.I.C.S. background check

Funny you should mention that, because On-Target didn't return my DL when I paid afterwards (they held it while I used a lane), this past weekend. Now I'm waiting for them to mail it back to me... I've used my HCP as ID twice since then (once for the 4473 last night, and once to buy some beers). I'm not anxious to find out if cross-referencing the number will satisfy an LEO during a traffic-stop, if it comes back valid... but it would be just my luck if I actually got pulled over after all these years. -
Too bad nobody makes a modern 7.62x25mm pistol which is available in this country...

Went to Hero Gear yesterday afternoon with my AK-74 and M590 in tow... and am now the proud owner of an FN SLP Mark I, and a Kel-Tec P3AT. 2 guns which I will use and enjoy approximately 1000% more than the ones which they replaced. Maybe I'm getting older, but in the last few months I've lost almost all interest in 'tactical'... Gotta hand it to Joe & Dan for running an awesome firearms establishment... I was treated great, as always, and enjoyed the heck out of hearing about SHOT and recent additions to the store iteself (it looks great, guys!). My wife knows if I go to Winchester for anything, that I won't be seen or heard from for 3-4 hours. Thanks for the great deals! I don't have any pictures to put up just yet, but here's stock photos from the manufacturers:

Roads were a little slick first thing... but the main roads have enough salt on them to shrivel the monster that challenged the world. Just go slow until you're on the dry.

The videos which are shown in the HCP class are woefully obsolete and innaccurate... It would honestly be better to not show them at all, than the intructor have to spend an hour to correct half of the content (if they bother to, I like to think that most do).

The M&P might have greater chamber coverage of the case than Glock, but the one I used to own was throated so large that the cases would expand dramatically... moreso than I've seen any other gun do to .357sig anyways, even Glock brass. I think that's a problem, albeit a slightly different one than insufficient case support in a specific area.
