My wife has five feeders out for three regulars and a few transients. They always fight over the same feeder even though there's enough to go around. Very sweet.

Judgement call best left to the professionals. Dog to the shelter for a determination, respond to the ad, tell them it's at the shelter. Let the shelter make the call. They handle situations like this a whole lot more than any of us finding a stray one time.   IMO.

She and her husband, Max, own two liquor stores called Beer 30, and their Marionville store was being robbed Sunday night until their new clerk acted. An armed man entered the store and pointed a gun at Jon Alexander. But the clerk, a 30-year veteran of the military, quickly pushed the robber’s gun away and drew his own — placing the gun at the robber’s mouth. The would-be robber held his gun at his side and quickly backed out of the store. Dawson said Alexander was hired two months ago — he started on the Fourth of July. He asked her whether she would mind him carrying his gun when he worked. “From what I have known of Jon, that handgun is kind of a part of him, like my handbag is to me,” she said. Knowing his background, the Dawsons agreed to let him carry the gun on the job. In this case, it appears to have worked out. The surveillance video was turned over to police, Dawson said, but she hasn’t heard any updates. “My experience with police is that they usually don’t involve you in what they’re doing unless they need to,” she said. “We’ve had some break-ins that we haven’t heard about until they were ready to prosecute.” But friends have come forward with information, she said, including one who gave her the name of the person believed to have attempted the robbery. Otherwise, it’s been business as usual, though Dawson has enjoyed showing the video, on her phone, to friends. “They’re shocked when they see the robber pull a gun, but then they’re just delighted when Jon stops him,” she said. While the footage itself is still a little shocking, Dawson said she’s not surprised at how Alexander reacted. “If I would have predicted how he would act in that situation, it would have been pretty similar to that,” she said. That, of course, is not what employees are directed to do in the case of a robbery. Dawson said they’re instructed to hand over the money and stay safe. Video: Gun control rally turns into gun rights rally   posted at 3:31 pm on September 1, 2013 by Jazz Shaw   There was what could prove to be an instructive moment for the Deplorable Nanny State Mayor this week, provided courtesy of the citizens of Ohio. The group Mayors Against Illegal Guns hosted a “rally” in Columbus, Ohio to build support for additional gun control legislation, but as the intro to the local news report asked (video below), “what happens when you throw a political rally, but nobody shows up except your opposition?”   It was a rally organized by gun-control supporters, but by the end, it looked more like an NRA rally.   “As a gun owner, I’m a responsible person and I think it’s responsible to ask to have all gun owners have a background check,” said Blanche Luczyk. “It’s just common sense. Any responsible person who is willing to take the ownership of a gun should be willing to have that background check.”   Luczyk was one of a half dozen members of the group Mayors Against Illegal Guns who hosted the rally in the Arena District on Friday. But when Luczyk started her speech by telling the crowd that former President Ronald Reagan supported background checks, she was drowned out by shouts of “Germany 1933″ and “Hitler.”   About 50 guns-rights supporters were on hand, some with rifles over their shoulders and others with handguns in hip holsters. Charlie Roberts said he was there to make sure that gun rights advocates had their voices heard.   “I want to show my support for the NRA, gun rights and the 2nd Amendment,” said Roberts. “We need to go after the criminals who commit crimes with guns and not the honest law abiding citizens. We don’t need any new laws, just enforce the ones on the books.”   The gun owners and Second Amendment supporters in general who showed up were clearly well informed on the issue. When the MAIG spokesperson began talking about how “disappointed” they were in Rob Portman (who voted against the last effort on background checks), the crowd began chanting, “We love Portman!”   In the end, it looks like the media wound up getting more interviews with gun rights supporters than the sponsors of the event. (Which shouldn’t be surprising, since almost none of the latter’s proponents showed up.) In fact, the disparity in support for the two sides of the issue became really clear when a local supporter of gun rights wound up taking over as speaker. She delivered what probably wound up being the money quote of the day.   “There’s no reason for Mayors Against Illegal Guns to be in Ohio,” said Linda Walker of the Buckeye Firearms Foundation. “Ohioans stand up for our constitutional rights and that’s the way it’s going to be.” … “People are fired up, people are concerned,” said Walker. “It’s overwhelming this many people show up on a Friday afternoon because our constitutional rights are that important.”     Let’s close with the video. Obama offers new gun control steps   By JOSH LEDERMAN, Associated Press | August 29, 2013 | Updated: August 29, 2013 8:59am   WASHINGTON (AP) — Striving to take action where Congress would not, the Obama administration announced new steps Thursday on gun control, curbing the import of military surplus weapons and proposing to close a little-known loophole that lets felons and others circumvent background checks by registering guns to corporations.   Four months after a gun control drive collapsed spectacularly in the Senate, President Barack Obama added two more executive actions to a list of 23 steps the White House determined Obama could take on his own to reduce gun violence. With the political world focused on Mideast tensions and looming fiscal battles, the move signaled Obama's intent to show he hasn't lost sight of the cause he took up after 20 first graders and six adults were gunned down last year in an elementary school in Newtown, Conn.   One new policy will end a government practice that lets military weapons, sold or donated by the U.S. to allies, be reimported into the U.S. by private entities, where some may end up on the streets. The White House said the U.S. has approved 250,000 of those guns to be reimported since 2005; under the new policy, only museums and a few other entities like the government will be eligible to reimport military-grade firearms.   The Obama administration is also proposing a federal rule to stop those who would be ineligible to pass a background check from skirting the law by registering a gun to a corporation or trust. The new rule would require people associated with those entities, like beneficiaries and trustees, to undergo the same type of fingerprint-based background checks as individuals if they want to register guns.   Vice President Joe Biden, Obama's point-man on gun control after the Newtown tragedy thrust guns into the national spotlight, was set to unveil the new actions Thursday at the White House.   The event in the Roosevelt Room will also mark the ceremonial swearing-in for Todd Jones, whose confirmation to head the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives after six years of political wrangling to fill that position was another of Obama's post-Newtown priorities. A Senate deal to approve the president's pending nominations after Democrats threatened to change Senate rules cleared the way for Jones' confirmation last month.   Still out of reach for Obama were the steps that gun control advocates and the administration's own review say could most effectively combat gun violence in the U.S., like an assault weapons ban and fewer exceptions for background checks for individual sales. Only Congress can act on those fronts.   Although Obama and Biden have said the fight is not over, there is scant evidence that there is more support for gun control legislation than there was in April, when efforts died in the Senate amid staunch opposition from the National Rifle Association and most Republican senators.   "Sooner or later, we are going to get this right," Obama said that day in the White House Rose Garden, with the families of Newtown victims and former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords — herself a victim of a gunman — at his side. "The memories of these children demand it, and so do the American people," the president said at the time.   In the months following the Senate vote, Biden has claimed that at a handful of lawmakers who opposed expanded background checks have told him privately they've changed their minds and want another chance. But Biden and White House officials have not named any of those lawmakers.   These days, Obama mentions gun control with far less regularity than when it appeared the Senate was poised to take action, although Obama did meet Tuesday with 18 city mayors to discuss ways to contain youth violence. And with immigration and pressing fiscal issues dominating Congress' agenda, the prospects for reviving gun legislation appear negligible.   With Jones' confirmation at ATF, the White House has completed or made significant progress on all but one of the 23 executive actions Obama had previously ordered in January, the White House said. Still lingering is an effort to finalize regulations to require insurers to cover mental health at parity with medical benefits, although the White House said that it is committed to making that happen by the end of 2013.   The new rules for guns registered to corporations will follow the traditional regulatory process, with a 90-day comment period before ATF reviews suggestions and finalizes the rule. Yep. And just about as cheap. No points on your license. Don't let it time-lapse though . . . then they can arrest you on a non-appearance warrant, yank your license, etc, etc. Others know better than me, but I'm thinking the non-appearance warrant and/or an arrest for non-appearance will screw up your HCP.

I'd no more wear my piece out for all to see than I would let my perky dinkle go on display. One is just as fearsome as the other, and best covered up in polite society.

IMO:   Lenny the Loon is going to "win" his court trial, but it is going to take months and months of the calendar and hours and hours of his time and thousands and thousands of his dollars.   The judge could have heard his statements and reviewed his paperwork and let him "win" at the preliminary hearing, but at that stage of the process the judge was not strictly obligated to review all the facts, but to see if there was sufficient cause to bind him over to the Grand Jury.   The judge did bind him over to the Grand Jury, where he will not lose, but will not seal a win as the Grand Jury executes a True Bill and he will be scheduled for trial.   The system will make him dot all his "I"s and cross all his "T"s and pay all the court expenses and wait months and months and fill out hours and hours of paperwork and pay for expert testimony, and spend thousands of dollars of his money to prove he is right.   In the meantime, he's preoccupied and not getting into other trouble and not bothering other people.   Finally, at the trial, after all his time, work and money, they will tell him: "You are right. You win. You may go."   It's called a Pyrrhic Victory, a Victory that costs you more than you gain. Sounds like a win for everyone else.   IMO.

I have less trouble with al Jazeera, which doesn't hide it's bias, than I do with MSNBC and others that DO hide their bias.

Let both side make their best case and let the justice system work this out in Court. We don't even know what all the facts are in the case; all the facts come out in a court trial.
