  1. I wonder just how much weight the roof of my car will support.... Turrets are cool.
  2. I have not worked out in 18 years. That is when I got out of the Army. That said I do work around the house building things, repairing things, and I hike. I am significantly overweight, but I am strong from physical work. I have not noticed any physical effects from my extra weight, so I ignore it. I like the idea of being strong enough to survive, but yet having a vast energy reserve. I hope I never have to find out if I have reached a good balance or not.
  3. Wow... If my Beretta Storm subcompact acted like that I would get rid of it ASAP.
  4. This story reminds me of the guy in the local gunstore that told me the Beretta CX4 rifle I was looking at took two different types of magazines... Beretta and Glock. Same gun, both magazines. It was funny really.
  5. Yes... Yes you will. You will sell it to me for $5.... Yes. Oh well, worth a try.
  6. I go to the public range at Natchez Trace State Park, although that might be a bit far for him...
  7. So, say an officer shows up to my house by mistake, my dog barks at him and he shoots it. Nothing happens... Ok, now say an officer shows up at my house with a K9 who barks at me, and I shoot it. Nothing happens, right? I mean fair is fair......

    92fs

Agreed. Most of their long term usage data seems to cite military reports, and there is a good difference between mil spec ammo and regular 115 grain target stuff. Personally I would change the locking block at 20,000 and only change the barrel when and if accuracy becomes diminished.

    92fs

The locking block is 20,000 and the barrel is 30,000 according to their website.

    92fs

The locking block is supposed to be replaced after 20,000 rounds as a matter of routine maintenance. Being a Beretta fan for many years here are The biggest things I would look for in no particular order: Three dots sites (a two dot site is a military M9). Most seem to find the two dot site quicker, but the three easier for accuracy. Mechanical function is ok. Extractor damage I have seen some develop a "cut" on the bottom side of the left front rail of the frame. Left front defined as holding the frame with the hammer toward you. The guns I have seen with the cut did not fail, and never seemed to get worse, it's just something I have noticed on a few of them. Indications of "Bubba" gunsmithing, ie. stripped screw heads, etc.
  11. Yep. I will not give my money to any business that forces me to disarm.
  12. No question, just an observation. If I were going to hack a website and steal user's personal information I would NOT pick a forum full of gun owners. I think I would pick a Toyota Prius Forum, but that's just me.
  13. This is my opinion, but I agree it's the effect of the adrenaline wearing off combined with the realization that you may have had to act to protect your family. I got that way in the military the first time I faced danger, and I can only guess it would be worse if I were protecting my wife instead of "battle buddies." Take heart man, you did really well. You excersied good judgement and kept your head in a bad situation. I am really glad you did not have to take further action, and that all has worked out. Just give it some time and the effects will pass. One thing that might help is to do your own AAR (After Action Review). Check where you were, line of fire, any and all variables that happened or could have happened. A good logical review can help to reassure you did the right thing, and can help calm your mind and body at the same time. Engaging the logical brain can help to disengage the emotions for a bit.
  14. This might sound strange, but the first thing I would do is buy some other ammo. I just got a new PX4 storm subcompact, and went to break it in with my trusty Wally world Federal ammo, and it stopped several times. I was becomming concerned until I put it in my Beretta 92fs, and that gun stopped several times in one mag. I was at the range, so I had my friend try it in his Springfield XD, and it stopped several times. I had someone else that was there try it in his G26, and it stopped too. I bought a box of Winchester White Box and went back to the range. The Storm ran perfect all 100 rounds. It was just a bad lot of ammo.
  15. Welcome to the forum man.
  16. Congrats on the new purchase. You cannot go wrong with that famous Marlin Micro Groove rifling.
  17. A Mosin Nagant 91/30 and 880 rounds of silver tip steel core Russian Ammo.... Works for me.
  18. Yeah, same thing here on the dropping the gun deal. I have tossed the Berettas on the ground at the range more than once when they run out and I go for the other one. I figure if it breaks I really do not want it. The range I go to is not gravel, but still. On occasion I have accidentally thrown them in the mud, which didn't bother anything, until that night when I went to clean them. That was a royal pain. As to the gun snobbery, I am sure they mean well. I would just tell them to eat crap, then look down at their gun and say "nevermind, you have enough problems already."
  19. I have thought about taking that course. Now that I know how they might react to my Beretta I am thinking even more of taking it. LOL.
  20. I am in the same situation as OP. I have been carrying about two weeks. Luckily I only went thru one holster before finding the one I really like. http://www.pythonholsters.com/spec_sheet.html?catalog[name]=-Universal-Miracle-Holster-UMAH---One-Size-Fits-Most-miracle&catalog[product_guids][0]=cbf749ac-6564-47b7-ac9a-fdfe89e14efd It's nothing fancy, not even molded. I put it inside my belt, and it will fit both my Px4 subcompact, and my big 92fs. Talk about a wide range.... The holster flattens with no gun in it, so it has become part of my daily dress even when I am not carrying like at work.
  21. Beretta Px4 Storm Subcompact, unless I am going to Memphis, then a Beretta 92fs with extra mags.
  22. I think these issues get over simplified a lot. People need to put more effort into finding the vehicle that more perfectly fits what they need, and less into brand loyalty. My wife's 05 Chrysler Town and Country has 215,000 miles on it and runs and drives perfectly. Does this mean I would I buy a Dodge truck? Not a chance, and I sure would not drive one of their cars. The minivan design from 97 to 07 was fantastic, and basically won them the minivan war. Toyota and Honda are just now gaining ground because people do not like the new Chrysler vans. My car is a Chevy Cobalt XFE. It was made in Ohio, has more HP and more MPG than the comparable Honda or Toyota, and cost far less. It has 95,000 miles and never had an issue. In fact I just started my 100,000 mile maintenance in which I simply took the old spark plugs out and put the new ones in and it took all of 15 minutes. People say that to buy new Hondas and Toyotas is to send money to Japan, and yeah that is true. they don't build factories here just as a hobby, but so what? If I were going to buy a car for political reasons it would be a Ford. I like the way they handled the free money from the government deal. The only issue is I do not like any of the cars they make. I am gonna stop as I get carried away. Point is people need to do more research about vehicles before they buy them. If you go to a lot and do not know more about the vehicle you are looking at than the sales person does you are doing it wrong.
  23. I would do it all again in a heartbeat... Except I would not go to airborne school again. The injury I sustained there put me out.
  24. According to most us southern folks we only have 5 types of snakes in the US Cottonmouth Copperhead Coral Snake Rattle Snake Chicken Snake He is clearly none of the top four. He is closest to the copperhead, but is off color, has the wrong head shape, and his eyes are wrong.
  25. I would also suggest the 9 carried OC in a hip holster loaded with FMJ for max penetration. Perfect as usual for two legged critters, but if you begin filling a bear with a mag of 9mm he is more likely to decide to pursue other prey that don't fight back as much. I personally do not see bear as angry and vengeful as much as hungry.
