But.. the people didn't talk the same as I do!
What people? Besides a few fishermen that area is desolate lol Sent from my HTC Inspire using Tapatalk 2
 2.
Ergo they make rechargeable batteries albeit in a kit? You are correct though, they aren't very good.
No, the batteries and the kit are made by a different company altogether. They are not surefire brand.
They do sell a kit on their site. It also mentions that run time is typically 50% of disposable CR123's.
Crap indeed.
 3.
Surefire makes rechargeable CR123A batteries.
No, they don't make rechargeable batteries. However they do sell a rechargeable battery kit on their website. You can buy rechargeable CR123a batteries at many places. I've never heard any good reviews on any.
 4. For the record, I think I have fit in quite well and I love it here. My parents even have a hard time understanding what I say now, haha! I have to say it really does stick. My sister was stationed with her husband in NC for four years and she still has an accent.
 5. So if such is the case, where does that leave a native hawaiian? Technically, Hawaii is actually farther south than any other state HA! My accent probably falls into neither category.
 6.
I on the other hand love using CR123's for daily use. Admittedly, I am interested in a rechargeable light. I just haven't found one that fits the desires I have in a light. Also, although CR123's aren't the cheapest battery, I worry a lot less about whether it works when I want it to. I suppose when I carry a flashlight in my pocket such as the E1B, the 5 lumen setting is good for most everything I use it for. Thus the batteries last a pretty long time. However, suggest to me a flashlight roughly the size of a Surefire E1B that is rechargeable, holds a charge, and is USA made, and I will take a look at it. I'd like an excuse to buy something:)
Offhand I can't think of any rechargeables that are the size of a single CR123a battery flashlight. You're probably best off with what you have unless you're interested in a larger flashlight.
 7. I would never use a flashlight that uses expensive CR123a for every day use. That would be extremely expensive. If you are willing to give Streamlight another chance, I would recommend their new rechargeable series of Stinger LEDs. They have an output of 350 lumens with a two hour run time. I see these all the time at local mechanic shops. A very durable, heavy duty, and reliable light that is great for every day use. On the other hand, I have two Surefire flashlights for tactical use. One is mounted on my AR-15 and the other is by my bedside. These are single output Surefire G2X rated at 200 (new ones are 320) lumens with a two hour run time. My point is... different flashlights for different uses. It's important to use the proper tool.
 8.
WTF who could sit through an hour of that?

Richard Louis Proenneke is my idol. He did it and made it look easy. It certainly wasn't. I know the difficulty for him was great but I bet his stress levels were not even measurable ey were so low. I bet he tossed and turned for 30 seconds or so before he fell asleep at night. In another life, I would live that way. What a life. Fresh fish and berries for breakfast and maybe some caribou for dinner. Spend the morning cutting firewood and the afternoon crafting new parts for the cabin.
9.
If you have to go to a range, it is better to be at a safe place like this than be shot and killed by a newbie or an experienced idiot like in Cheatham County
It's funny you mention that. I was just at a local range last weekend and I was out changing my target at the rifle range when some kid started shooting. I didn't even KNOW until I came back to the bench and the father started apologizing profusely. I wasn't even angry but now my girlfriend won't let me go shooting there anymore. Too bad she can't stop me, lol. Not very long after this I was sitting down at the bench zeroing my new hunting rifle when these two guys took, of ALL the open benches, the one on my left. I didn't let that bother me until I nearly went deaf when this.... person.... started popping off rounds RIGHT next to my ear with his AK pistol and nailing me with his brass. He was so close I didn't dare move until he stopped shooting (YES, THAT FKN CLOSE). His muzzle was literally one inch forward on the line in front of my head and one foot to the side. Some people are EXTREMELY inconsiderate (or perhaps his way of showing off his new AK). It was an awful day. Word of advise: Take your ear plugs out if you're downrange and make sure parents are watching their kids.
 10.
I went to the Stone River shooting range for the first time today. I had read a few things about the range before I went and learned a few things but I learned a few more details that I would like to share with you and for anyone seeking info on the range. BTW: the TN Gov site does a horrible job with such a lack of info. Some important details to know about this range: 1) Cash or checks only, NO CARDS 2) No ammo is sold there, but targets are sold. 3) You can rent rests and scopes if you need them. No gun rentals. 4) They are still inspecting every weapon and they want a case or bag per weapon. 5) No Concealed Carry 6) Only water is allowed on the range 7) Still only one target per lane, and you have to use the push pins they provide. 8) Many who work there seem crabby. I have read a lot about a certain woman who works there as a range officer. She was there today, and yes, she is loud and "Confident", but she is also very helpful and gives a ####. I observed her being helpful with many people today. 9) Shotgun ranges only with Slugs, no Shot. 10) It's busy 11) Not many "stores" in the immediate vacinity. Get your food, water and ammo before you get there.
Reminds me of Hawaii. Gag.
 11.
Thanks...and FWIW (from urban dictionary) "Hauli Hawaiian Slang for a white person in Hawaii. Considered a non-native Caucasian."
Hauli actually kind of means surprised or amazed, lol

In case you can't tell, he's DEAD.
 13. That article was aggravating to read. If the author wants to live in the past then he's got that to do. Handguns have come a long way. I don't start my car with a crank lever. Let's put this VERY simply... There are MANY things that could go wrong without one in the chamber. - That quarter of a second it takes to chamber a round (that's very generously fast) can without a doubt easily be a matter of life or death. - There is a chance of a failure to feed (when you could already have a good round already in the chamber ready to go). - There is a chance a foreign object may be introduced to the chamber (shirt, flesh, a cat) causing malfunction or a jam. - There is a chance you may become off balance in responding to a threat and unable to chamber a round. - There is a chance that you might need your support hand to keep your threat at a distance/keep your balance/catch yourself/manipulate objects. - There may not be enough room to rack the slide when tackled and wrestling on the ground There is ONE thing that could go wrong with carrying one in the chamber. - A negligent discharge. I don't know about you, but the reason I carry is to be ready for the worst imaginable situation (aka use of deadly force) and I think any reasonable person would want EVERY single advantage available no matter how small.
 14. Am I the only one who didn't know that Streamlight came out with a NEW Stinger LED model? When did this happen?! 350 lumens, rechargeable - that's almost twice as much light and its priced about the same as previous models ($120ish). Merry Christmas to me!
 15.
Fellow Tennesseans, Checking in from the island of Oahu. Stationed out here for at least a couple more years. Man I sure do miss the 2nd amendment. It's basically non existent out here! Can't wait to get back home some day, but in the mean time I'll live vicariously through yall! V/r, Hauli (Hawaiian slang for white guy)
Haole* (ha-oh-leh) Actually a term meaning foreigner. Indeed the worst state for gun owners. Aloha, An actual Hawaiian, born and raised there for 21 years before moving to TN, lol Sent from my HTC Inspire using Tapatalk 2

 17. I told myself I've given up the idea. After purchasing a new bolt action rifle, my desires have changed. I would like to know about hunting deer. Do I need to take a hunter education class to hunt on private land? If I AM required to take the class will I learn everything I need to know as far as rules and regulations? If answered yes to both questions, I'll take it from there. Thanks!
 18. I may buy another one if I see em again at Walmart. Sent from my HTC Inspire using Tapatalk 2
 19. Well this turned out nearly awful. Mounted the scope, yes the high rings were necessary. Went to zero it today and the scope rings were sliding off the bases. No wonder I was having a hard time zeroing. Came home, had an epiphany. Removed scope, removed bases, turned bases around to make the distance between them shorter so I could use the scope ring locking crossbars and also bring the scope a whole ten feet closer to me for more comfortable eye relief. Also found out I hate my newly acquired shooting rest. Remembered when i got home that I had a cheap bipod. Figured out how to adjust focus ring properly. Aggravating day but all set to go next time. 20. Now that I feel like I have neurosis for trying to perfect/fix these expensive rounds. I just feel the bullet would have more accuracy with a rounded and smoothed nose. Aerodynamics? Makes sense to me at least... Sent from my HTC Inspire using Tapatalk 2
 21. Am I the only OCD person who enjoys polishing the imperfections out of soft points with fine steel wool and microfiber cloth? It makes the brass really shine, too. Are there any negative side-effects for the ammo? And is there a reason why the factory doesn't do this? Soft points are always so... randomly multi-faceted.
 22. Wow, I forgot all about this thread. In this last week I've dumped a lot of money. I ordered a Ruger American in .270 and a Simmons Whitetail Classic 6.5-20x50 with high Warne rings! I'll get pics up as soon as I put it all together. I can't wait for the call from my FFL and to take it shootin! Probably this Saturday I think. Okey, yall going shooting this weekend? I sure as hell don't know what I'm doin and could definitely use some pointers, ha!
 23.
There are advantages and disadvantages to each, but I will say this, if you ever do some night time force on force training and you'll understand why I no longer use weapon lights on any of my weapons. I have learned that stealth is the key to surviving/winning low/no light gun fights.
This. However, keep a light on your nightstand pistol! ONLY use it when you're about to take a shot. It IS important to identify your target before firing. I would NOT use it as a search light. If you ARE searching, I hope you have a reason WORTH risking your LIFE(i.e. children and other family members). You otherwise would be best off hunkering down and calling 911. You let them come to you and use that light to identify the target and take the appropriate actions. MOST people take off their weapon lights when they carry the pistol. There are hardly any manufacturers out there that make holsters that accommodate weapon lights and weapon lights also make the pistol very heavy. This is where night sights come in. When you are away from the house, without adequate lighting, with minimum reaction time - night sights will help you deliver accurate shots in low light. Even if I had a weapon light on my pistol at all times, I would still use night sights. They simply don't fail, they don't use batteries, and they're very difficult to damage. I would FIRST get good quality night sights for my gun if it is a carry weapon. Then I would buy a decent weapon light that is easy to mount and take off. This is much better than a handheld light for many reasons. You do NOT want to have your hands full opening and closing doors. Most importantly you want as much control of the weapon as possible (recoil and prevent it from being taken away). Best of luck.
 24. Moved here from Hawaii. Havent had deer meat yet. Ive heard it tastes "gamey" and that jerky is the best. Thinkin about takin up huntin myself. Sent from my HTC Inspire using Tapatalk 2
 25.
Boy you got us there.... Funny how no one posts crap like that on an M&P thread, or a XD thread, or a Taurus, or a Ruger, or a Sig, or any other semi that uses that same "tupperware" frame....
Funny how if it was posted in an M&P, XD, Taurus, Ruger, or Sig thread people would think that it was funny and probably not cry about it. I don't know, perhaps it historically hurts deeper since Glock came up with tupperware frames. I've owned two Glocks before and now I carry tupperware myself in the form of an M&P. I'm sorry you can't take a joke. Great thread, keep the photos coming!
