90% of the time the Ruger LCP in pocket. Sometimes I add the G26 IWB with a modified KHolster (I did a combat cut on the leather, as well as shaving off a little of the Kydex to allow a combat grip on the pistol). With both I use Hornady Critical Defense rounds. I have found these to be reliable in both of my carry pistols. I'll be adding the Kimber Ultra TLE (LG) to the mix as soon as I get a new ejector. The old ejector broke (I know its easy to fix, just haven't made the time to do it). Also, I would need more training with the whole sweep the safety off thing - right now I'm more comfortable just having to draw and pull the trigger as on my LCP/G26.

I've known about it for a few months ... can't say for sure how long its been out. I really want one as well.

I got to shoot a M&P 9mm (with a suppressor) at the range the other day. I dig it. Good gun. Don't think you can ever go wrong with a S&W. (I own mainly Glocks and 1911's, so that's my basis for comparison on the M&P). (On a side note I shot my friends S&W .357 - dunno which model - this weekend and it was a very nice pistol as well).

I enjoy the show, definitely have to take it with a grain of salt. That being said, I watch every episode a couple of times. The slow motion Hi-def shots are cool. I was sad to see Michelle go, but she was clearly the weaker shooter in the elimination challenge. Kept shooting the target while it was swinging back towards her, and stopping it's momentum. Yeah, and as for Littlejon about to cry and wanting to vote for friends ... WTF. LOL.

If I hadn't bought the G26 because I wanted it for carry, I would have bought a G19. The next Glock I buy will likely be the G19 though. I have this funny feeling that once I pickup a G19 that will become my primary carry LOL. Sometimes I have to go with a tucked in shirt though and I like the smaller size of the G26 in these situations.

Congrats on the new purchase! I own 3 Ruger pistols and they are all high quality firearms. Also, ditto on the A++++++ for Shooter's Depot. I've been a member there for 1.5 years and I love those guys.

I recently stepped up from the Ruger LCP to the Glock 26 Gen 4. Its my 2nd glock and I'm happy with it. It goes bang when its supposed to, and puts holes where its supposed to. (Except when the dummy behind the trigger (me) moves the gun during the trigger pull).

I used to have dreams that I had a gun and plenty of ammo around, but I couldn't figure out what ammo was for my gun. This was just when I first got into shooting a few years back and I really didn't know about different calibers and what not. As I learned what diff calibers are out there and what guns they go into, these dreams have gone away. Come to think of it, as I was typing this I remembered that I have had a few dreams recently where I tried to get the gun to fire and couldn't get it to go off. I guess more range time is in order to cure this

I just bought a mark III and I love it ... I've gotten a little frustrated field stripping it and reassembling, but with a little patience and Google I've learned how to get it back together pretty easily. (I have the Hunter model with the Hi-Viz sights and my front sight also started coming loose at my last range session, but again Google shows a little loctite will fix this). Out of 250 CCI minimags (round nose) I had 3 stove pipes, and then out of about 100 cheapo winchester I had 1 stove pipe. Still breaking the gun in so I'm gonna wait before I decide to get the volquartsen extractor. It is built like a tank, and I am fairly sure it will outlast me.

A friend of mine recently purchased the Springfield XD subcompact in 9mm. For me it seemed that the point of Aim / impact was a little different from my glock, but once I adjusted for that I was ringing the plates. It was a sweet shooter. (I admit that I may have been jerking the trigger / anticipating the recoil as well, still working on that kinda stuff).

The only issue I've had with my Kimber is that the ejector broke off at the end. The gun was only about one year old with moderate use when this happened. But I certainly won't bash over this, I love the gun, and I'm sure they will replace the part as soon as I get around to calling them -- just been too busy with school / work to worry about getting it fixed.

Uh oh ... I took off my green sticker on my new Mark III .... who's that at the door????? In all seriousness I wondered what it was for as well, so I did learn something from this thread, and got a good LOL.

I second this sentiment. Of course that's a BIG IF you can find it.

This may be true, but at least you have both now. I think you'll like them both! I've never seen a 1911 I didn't like. Also don't think anyone can have enough 1911's (or glocks ... or guns in general).e

Congrats!!!! I bought the SR1911 a few months ago and I love it. LOVE it. Today I just bought a Ruger Mark III Hunter, 5.5" Fluted Barrel (Talo Exclusive). They said it had been in the case less then 5 minutes when I walked in and bought it LOL. Pics/range report will be coming soon. I'm trying to muster up the gumption to take it apart and lube it up.

The difference between a right and a privilege is where the whole car argument breaks down. Driving a car is a privilege, whereas owning a firearm is a right. At least this is my understanding, I don't believe driving a car is guaranteed anywhere in the constitution.

My friend has a Sig DA/SA (not sure the model #) in .45 that I love. Also, I like my glocks in 9mm. So yeah, I'd go for a glock or a sig if I wasn't gonna get a 1911.

Wait a minute! What's that tupperware doing up there!?!??!?!?! One of these is NOT like the others! (just poking fun ... I own two glocks and plan to buy more in the future I also got lucky and found an SR 1911 too a few months back). Very nice!!!!

Or perhaps a glock flock.

My birthday is right around the corner I think I'll be getting myself a Mark III as a present Also I have an LCP and I love it ... I did make 2 changes to it. Switched to the 11# Wolff recoil spring, and I hand polished the feed ramp. It's been 100% reliable since those 2 changes. I can't comment on the Keltec, don't have one, and never shot one.

I agree that I may not be able to stop a BG from doing harm in church (or at a movie theater, or the store, or wherever). However, if I am not allowed to carry while in church, that opens up a whole other set of problems outside of the church. I either have to leave my gun at home on Sunday morning, which leaves me without a weapon when I stop for coffee / gas on the way to church, or I have to leave my gun in the car, which I just don't feel comfortable doing. If I have a weapon outside my home, the absolute safest place for that weapon is on my person, in a holster. (I have plans to install a small safe in my vehicle, just haven't done it yet. Even with a safe the weapon would be more secure if it was with me.) Bottom line is that in this country we have the 2nd Amendment in place, and it is my RIGHT to carry, and have an option to defend myself if I find myself in harm's way. This has been a good thread to follow. It is unfortunate that such a horrible incident is what has sparked the discussion. I gotta get back to studying, take care everyone.

Burglars shot in East Nashville this morning
JGunner replied to EastHipster's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I know that if someone had just tried to rob me, and then came right back after they had ran off (i.e. the guy in the pickup truck) I would be pretty scared that he might try something, and therefore fearful for my life. -
I may as well add that my friend just purchased a Henry lever action in .22lr and its loads of fun. Seems to be a quality firearm as everyone has already stated

I have a beretta NEOS that had problems. After sending the gun back a second time, Beretta simply shipped Sportsman's Warehouse a brand new NEOS to replace the one I was having problems with. Sportsman's transferred the new NEOS to me free of charge (they did the bknd check for free). So that made me a very happy customer, and I've had no problems out of the new gun. Point is I think Beretta will make good on it. They did for me.

Yeah this. I'm definitely going to avoid Mr. Zip from now on, even tho its the closest gas station to my house.
