Seems like the case wasn't directly related to HCP's, possibly dealing with evidence from a crime being suppressed due to a firearm being the only PC for arrest. I'll have to dig more later. Consider my statement unproven for the time being.  :squint:   That said, has there ever been a case to prove the contrary? Has anyone ever been convicted of a crime or had their permit revoked because they refused to show a permit after a gun was the only cause for the stop?

  Point 2, and therefore point 3, are incorrect. The TNSC ruled within the last year or two that the mere act of carrying a firearm is not cause for LEO to demand to see your permit. 

So are we going to ignore all the times CCers get attacked? OC doesn't ward off all idiots, nor does CC. People carrying both ways can get attacked. If OC was really that much more dangerous, there would be hundreds of bad stories as opposed to less than 10. Mr. Walker assumed he was attacked because of his pistol, but lacking any other evidence, especially from a mentally unstable person, it's really hard to say. It could just as easily have been because he made eye contact a few times.  Rather than use this incident as an excellent example of level-headedness and quick thinking, most people here are ragging on a guy for how he carried, even though he ended the confrontation quite effectively. It's not like he was a couch potato who wandered out from his mom's basement with a Hi-Point in a floppy holster. When a CCer gets attacked, we get all excited and congratulate the person on doing a good job. But because his clothing is arbitrarily on the wrong side we use him as an example of what not to do? Come on, guys, we stand together or we fall together.

I'm usually comfortable with just 1 and a spare mag. No reason not to carry another if you feel the need though. 

Don't forget to factor in body type. Makes a big difference in what can be concealed easily. I also don't like IWB carry, but granted I haven't spent a lot of money to try a system I like. My P938 OWB is the right balance of comfort, accuracy, and capacity for me with the 7rd magazine. I shoot it well, the trigger pull is short, and i have the same capacity as a full size 1911 in 9mm. Everybody has to compromise somewhere.

  Coon or hog hunter maybe?    I've only seen a few people OCing in TN, and all were dressed pretty normally. No shorts, beaters, or tacti-cools. I did see one driving a school bus (saw him walk from a gas station to the bus) the other day, which I thought was interesting. He was wearing a t-shirt and jeans and had a  Glock in a leather holster. Nothing unusual-looking at all otherwise. 

Remove the ability to local governments to ban carry at parks. It's just too confusing for travelers and serves no purpose. 

Kroger already said they would not be banning guns and that they trust their customers to act responsibly. 

I'm personally not a fan of bills of sale. Too much paperwork.    I do always exchange ID's/HCP's with whoever I'm making the transaction with so we both know age and residence.    As for the felon thing, I've always been under the impression that it doesn't matter if a felon owns a gun or not, he just can't possess it. In other words, if someone is convicted of a felony charge, the father could go (with the felon's permission) to his house and get the guns while he is in jail. Of course convicted felons can't purchase guns after the fact.

    I'd say more behind the anti-OC/gun activists. He pledged to spend $50 million this year on anti-gun campaigns, and the media is loving it. That's the only reason we're hearing about people OCing in Texas 8 months ago, or even this book, which has been out for several years. 

There is no reason aside from sheer laziness that security wouldn't have a means of storing items not allowed in the courthouse, even guns, and returning them when the owner leaves.

    This. The government shouldn't be able to have anything that citizens can't have, at least in regards to small arms. It defeats the purpose of the 2A.

Nobody has mentioned this, but in court I imagine the height of the vehicle would come into play. It would be very difficult for a person in a wheelchair to injure someone in an F-250, but a Corolla would put them at eye level, especially dangerous if traffic isn't moving.

Just a note, MS requires an enhanced carry permit to carry at schools, which only MS residents can get. Do not carry to a K-12 or college in MS on an out of state permit.  :up:

I prefer not to disclose because it has nothing to do with why I was stopped, I'm not going to tell him about all the stuff in my car that's not a danger to him.   I don't see a difference in telling him I have a gun and telling him about my grandma's toe fungus. Neither are relevant to why I was stopped. 

I generally choose not to inform, since my handgun has nothing to do with why they stopped me. The last time I was stopped the officer asked if I was armed (I think he saw my HCP in my wallet after I pulled out my DL) and he didn't seem at all upset that I didn't inform. He was a deputy sheriff though..probably expected it. 

    There is a big difference in handgun OC and rifle OC. Most people don't OC handguns to make a scene. If they did, there would be thousands of Youtube vids on it instead of a few dozen. Handgun carry is safer in nature because of how the gun is secured to the body, the trigger is protected, and the muzzle is always pointed downwards. It's also perceived better by the public. Only die-hard anti's will throw a fit about an OCed handgun, but even gun owners will rail on an OCed rifle. 

Personally, I think the NRA shouldn't have said anything about it in the first place, and certainly shouldn't have called the TXOC group a bunch of weirdos. They gave MDA even more ammo against gun owners with their first statement. If the NRA just had to say something, it should have been about safety/trigger cover/muzzle control issues when carrying rifles, and suggesting that gun owners carry in a safer manner. 

I carry more IWB than OWB in the summer with my 938, and I use a flush fit magazine more in the summer, but that's about it. 

  Do you have a link to the separate car carry bill? I've been scanning around, just can't seem to find it. 

I like my 3" SP101 for most hiking and camping. If it were longer distance hiking (20+ miles), I would certainly switch to something lighter.
