  I could be wrong, but i believe you have to be a resident to CC without a permit in WY, not to OC. 

  Best post ever.    But really, people, stop worrying. Blood [from incompetence] in the streets doesn't happen in the 25+ states that have permitless CC, and it won't happen in TN. Worrying about is silly at best. I currently live in MS, and we got permit-less OC passed last year. "Pro-gun" folks and anti's alike cried and fretted about incompetence lack of training, yadda yadda. But guess what? Nothing happened! Shouldn't we be seeing a pattern here?   One thing that did happen is more signs going up. They come down real fast when gun owners band together (a novel concept, I know) and tell businesses to remove the signs or lose customers. 

I'm guessing you've never traveled to Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas, Missouri, Kentucky, Virginia, or North Carolina to see the carnage that happens there from unlicensed OC.  :ugh:

  This is a good idea. Some groups have done a roadside cleanup or other community service project while OCing, also for promoting normalcy and projecting a good image. It's hard to be against people picking up litter. 

Would this also allow permit-less loaded vehicle carry? Both would be great to allow some means of carry without the ridiculous government fees. 

I would definitely like to see even more people OCing with proper holsters and friendly attitudes. That would be a great help to improve the public perception of carrying. The more it happens, the less people notice.

I ride a XR650L (dual sport) and a Suzuki V-strom 650 (adventure) and carry OWB like any other time. I have no plans of using it while moving, it's more for when I'm stopped. My $22 Joe Rocket gloves work fine with my pistol; I've even used them as shooting gloves in colder weather. The only downside is that in cold/rainy weather my pistol is not easily accessible under my insulated suit/rain gear. 

A single state ditching DST is a terrible idea. Just too inconsistent with neighboring states.    I'm for leaving things the way they are. Since I mostly work outside, I appreciate it getting dark "late" in the summer because I have time to do stuff outside after work, and the cooler mornings are nice. I also enjoy the "early" sunrise helping the temps warm up a little in the winter. I just hate when it gets dark at 5pm.

  Are church, sports, jobs, teams , clubs, band, group classes, etc., not enough socialization opportunities? How is socialization gained when students sit with peers their own age every day in a desk listening to a teacher for 7+ hours a day, and then are issued two hours of homework per night? There is absolutely zero emperical evidence that suggests home schooled kids are less socially adept that those who went to pubic/private schools.    With a decent curriculum, teaching high-school level subjects is not difficult. It's more like having a private tutor as a full-time, in-home instructor. 

It's the only logical solution when you outlaw homeschooling. The law says children have to go to school; it's not optional. We do currently have the option to educate children at home. If that option is removed, as you recommend, then children must attend school away from the home. If homeschooling is outlawed, and parents don't send their kids to a public/private school, Social Services will remove those kids as long as the parents refuse to comply.    My children will get a much better education at home because my wife and I care much more about our kids than any teacher ever could. Simple as that. 

  So kids should be forcibly removed from their homes 5 days a week to be taught at a government-run school? That sounds like a wonderful idea. 

Oddly enough, I agree with Holder's statement about too many cases involving law enforcement when they could just be handled by the school (for non-illegal offenses). Otherwise, his statements are hogwash.    How about this: a kid breaks a rule, he gets punished appropriately. Simple as that. 

This is the important part. There is no data whatsoever that says a training course reduces accidents. If anything, it's pretty even across the board. That means that the classes are more about making people comfortable and feel safe than it is about producing results. Feel-good arguments should be avoided in these cases, IMO.

If it's not a legal posting, I will sometimes go on in if I'm with a group of people or am pretty much through the door already, but I will not return there if I can help it. I will also ignore the sign if the place is somewhere I don't have other options to go, like a doctor's office or bank. 

I'm shocked that people weren't running and screaming out of the restaurant. They could have gotten shot. That's always what I'm told will happen anyway.

One thing I found disturbing about the judge's ruling was that he used the logic "making a cake for a get couple won't negatively affect the bakery's business." It's pretty sad that the judge seems to think money is more important than principle.    On the other hand, since this has gotten so much attention, I bet the bakery's business grows significantly as a result of the owner standing his ground, that is, if the .gov doesn't shut it down .

Does Clarksville prohibit pellet rifle or rimfire discharge?   In MS, we can legally shoot dogs that are even chasing chickens or other livestock. 

This is great news. TN has finally caught up to other states like GA and IN in this regard, and has also fallen closer in line with many federal court rulings on the issue.    Now the only thing is to make sure LEAs across the state know about the ruling and how it affects what they can and cannot to to people carrying firearms. 

It has long been popular opinion in TN that carrying a gun is illegal always and therefore is RAS for a stop. This is the first court case I've heard of on the matter, and I believe they ruled correctly. I'm still optimistic that if this case or one similar made it to the TNSC the ruling would be the same, and binding to the entire state. 

Aside from the fact that we do need Constitutional Carry, the only thing an "Enhanced Permit" would do for a TN resident is add schools and posted town buildings/parks. A permit holder in TN can carry in a good many more places than a regular permit holder in MS can. The other difference is that the NRA training class is what qualifies one for an Enhanced Permit in MS, since the standard permit doesn't require class/training. Of course, TN already requires training for a regular permit, so what would have to happen to qualify for an "Enhanced" HCP? That being said, the whole Enhanced Permit thing just gets confusing. It would be much better to let a carry permit be a carry permit..to carry everywhere.

I'm just glad the courts have ruled similarly and over numerous rulings in great detail what police can and cannot do during a stop that involves a firearm in a state where no license is required to OC. That way we don't have to argue about it  :up:

If this law were in effect when I was in school, I would have had my gun in my vehicle every day, regardless of school policy. I was much more worried about the felony charge than being booted from school.

Mississippi's 97-37-1 Sections 2&3 would be great to copy for permit-free vehicle carry and outdoor activity carry.

One change I would like to see is the HCP being an exception to the crime of carrying a firearm rather than a defense. Subtle wording has made a huge difference in how TN treats HCP holders compared to states like GA or IN where there has to be RAS that the carrier has no permit before he/she is detained.    Theoretically, it might be easier to sneak past most of the legislature who probably wouldn't know the difference.
