  1. If we could purchase enough to keep the price quite low, it sounds like a good idea to me. Maybe one of our site vendors would be willing to lend a helping hand. If we could get enough people to commit/pay for in advance, that may help. I am a member on another forum, and site vendors often have "group buys" kinda like this. I'd be in for some .40 S&W.
  2. I'm also in the beginning stages of a Custom 10/22. it didn't take long to realize this wasn't going to be any cheap feat. If I already had a stainless 10/22, I'd probably start with that, but because I don't, I'm just gonna start from scratch. From the looks of it, nobody ever does just a little modifying. As someone already suggested, go to RimFireCentral.Com. They are very helpful, and have tons of vendors.
  3. I was at Guns & Leather the other day, and there was a guy who purchased 3 of them at the same time. They were selling for $319. I thought about getting one, but I'm still trying to figure out a man (without girly hands) is able to shoot the LCP. It was so tiny, and I just couldn't make it feel anything that resembled comfort.
  4. 99.99% of the time, WWB is all I shoot at the range. I have never had one single issue with it. *Knock On Wood* ***Note*** I've never tried it in an LCP.
  5. I quit smoking a long time ago. Now, Grizzly Wintergeen Pouches for me. I Simply swapped one nasty habbit for another, but now my fat a$$ can breath.
  6. Thanks for the input. I think I'm going to build one from scratch. I see no reason spending money on a stock 10/22, when I'll be using very little of it. I believe I'm going to be better off finding a company/shop that will cut me some kind of a deal if I purchase all the oarts from them. Well, I'm hoping that's how it works out. Now I just have to find that company/store who's willing to do a bit of dealing. Thanks again to everyne for all the helpful info.

  8. Pat Summitt has got to be the best basketball coach, EVER.
  9. As the title states, I'm thinking (just thinkin) about building a 10/22 from scratch. I have priced some parts (via the web) individually, but I hope that someone may be able to point me in the direction of a local store where I may be able to get a better deal if I were to buy all the parts from him/her. Know of anyone, please let me know. Thanks
  10. Thanks for the responses. I'd really like to check them out. If it's going to be this weekend, it would have to be Saturday or Sunday. Thanks again.
  11. I'm thinking about getting a rifle for target/range use. The chances of any hunting are probably very minimal. I don't currently have a rifle, and honestly, I know very little about them. I've had very minimal rifle experience. I'm trying to find someone/people who will be shooting during a weekend in the near future. I'd like to come out (not get in your way) to familiarize myself with what type of rifle would be best for my needs. Just to get an idea about the whole rifle world, and soak up some much needed knowledge. Thanks in advance.
  12. Thanks to everyone for taking the time to check. Everything with the XD seems to be working just fine. I'm not going to worry about it any further. Thanks again.
  13. I'm not questioning you, but if that's the case, how do we explain the guys/gals who've fired many rounds, but don't have the same type of marking?
  14. I purchased my trigger kit from XDguys. It's a Bob's Custom Shop product, and several XD owners have had light primer strike since installing the kit. I made a trip to Guns&Leather this afternoon, shot 100 rounds through it, and not a problem at all. I don't know if those marks have been there all along, but some "experts" over there insist this is a big deal. The same "experts" say that there should be no markings on those parts. It would be very nice if a real gunsmith could tell me if this is anything to worry about.
  15. I know some have used other methods, but this is how I ended up polishing many parts on my XD. 1) Blue Remover 2) Wire brush to remove top layer 3) 1000 grit sand paper. This helped get down to good polishing metal. 4) Dremmel (Black&Decker) with polishing wheel and Green (liquid) Jewelers Rouge. I would post some pictures, but my camera is a piece of trash.
  16. If anyone owns an XD, could you please take a look and see if you have the same rubbing marks as I do on mine. This can be stock or modified XD's. Please let me know which you have. I installed a trigger kit, but I'm honestly not sure if the rub mark were there before I did so. Thanks.
  17. I didn't bother watching the video (How To Easily Install A New Mag Release Button), now I do need some help getting the mag release back in. I'm kinda using the same Q-tip type method (to hold spring in place) that I used to get the grip safety back in. This time, I'm using a very thin nail to hold the mag release spring into the magazine catch. I've place very small pieces of scotch tape over each of the two hole on the magazine catch to ensure the nail doesn't come out until I puch the pin back through. Anyone know of a video or other info to help get it back in? Thanks.
  18. I'm not sure if this video has been posted, so I didn;t want to make another thread about it. Here's the video with Mr. Jackson talking about Guns In Bars. http://www.comedycentral.com/videos/index.jhtml?videoId=164013
  19. Ok. Let's assume I'm going to take the route I mentioned above. Is there anyone in the Nashville/Middle Tennessee area that would be a good source for all the parts I'd need? If it's possible, I may like to deal with one person during the entire project. Again, this is in the beginning stages, so I could change my mind on that as well. I may find it to be more beneficial (price wise) to find parts via the internet.
  20. After some helpful info, I'm kinda leaning towards figuring out the caliber I'm needing, then build from scratch with a unbarreled receiver. Who knows? This is the very early stages of the process. Thanks to everyone for their input.
