Employers say NO to guns- got any sources for "ammo"?
bubbadavis replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I suggest trying to sit down and just discuss things with them. You will have a difficult time finding hard data as to HCP holders preventing injuries, robberies, etc. Many of them will go unreported - and especially underreported by the media. I have always heard that a self-defense shooting is considered an intentional act. I don't think insurance companies like to pay out for intentional acts. That being said, I am not a lawyer and don't play one on TV. Make it clear to them that you would only have your weapon out in a life-or-death situation. Maybe you can convince them of a policy along the lines of "no weapons without permission from the owner". My company has a written policy along those lines. Others at the office carry and the unwritten rule with me is that I have to show off any new toys that I pick up! Best of luck with the owners. -
I believe the bill started in the House. After the House passed it, the Senate then modified it as they saw fit - and passed it. The House then sat on the thing for months while deciding what to do. They had to either pass it as the Senate passed it or go to a conference committee to iron out the differences. The problem was that the Senate wouldn't do the ironing - they didn't have the votes anymore due to Brown being elected in Mass. The only way to get it through was to pass it as is. Then they started a new bill to "correct" the Senate version. The Senate can then use reconciliation to pass the update with only 51 votes instead of 60. Whew! I think all of that is correct -- but I am not a lawyer so there is no way I can understand all of the shenanigans going on in congress.

I have a SDB - and it looks identical to mine. I had mine off the press just a couple of weeks ago.
-
That looks like a Square Deal B powder measure to me. The SDB takes special dies - I don't know if it will work with other presses.

That poll is from November 2007.

Looks like her finger is on the trigger in pic #2. Maybe she deserves detention?

I got mine from Guns and Leather. Daniel had a TGO price that was too hard to pass up. I actually saw one at a gun show recently that was over $100 more than I paid. G&L always treats me right.

For 2009, $3.56 in the General Services District. Add $0.57 for the Urban Services District. To estimate property taxes, take the appraised value and divide by 400. Then multiply by your tax rate. Tax Rates

I live in Bellevue. I'm about as far west as you can get and still be in Davidson County. Its worth the drive for me to Greenbrier to visit Guns and Leather. Guns For America is in the 100 Oaks area and seems to be a good place. Bellevue is about the midway point between Nashville and Dickson. The bad part is you are still in Davidson County and get to pay for the new convention center, stadium, arena, etc. through your property taxes. There are nice neighborhoods in west Davidson county where you don't have all the 'big city' problems.

Spoil them when you can -- I'll never forget the times I spent with my grandpa. The time spent with him was worth more than anything else. Memories last forever. Sorry to hear they are moving.

TGO Guns & Leather Shoot - Sunday Jan 31st
bubbadavis replied to Metalhead's topic in Events and Gatherings
I should be able to make this one as well. I am also planning on bringing a friend that's not a gun owner yet. So be on your best behavior! -
Please have mine delivered by a female in the future.

This is all AFAIK: if it has the finger grooves, its a Gen 3. If it doesn't, it's most likely a Gen 2.

I've got a SA Loaded Commander. Very nice pistol for the money. I wouldn't trade my Nighthawk for it, but it cost a fair bit more! I'm a fan of the Commander for carry. It's still big but I manage to lug it around pretty well. The shorter barrel 1911's have a reputation for being a little more finicky that their big brothers. That said, I've had no trouble from my SA. I have had a couple of FTF, all in the first 150 rounds through the gun. Since then, no problems at all. If you are going to carry it, I'd recommend the Commander. If its a range only gun, get the full size.

I stopped in there once just to look around. If you're into high-end shotguns, Game Fair is your place. When I say high-end, I mean they had smoked poles all the way into the $30k range.

I hope you are right but that's the first I have heard of it. I'll try to do some investigation later this week.

My company's HR literature says no weapons unless you have permission from one of the owners. My boss is one of the owners and he has a HCP. The other owner has been out shooting with me. Whenever I've picked up a new gun on my lunch break, they always want me to bring it in and show it off when I get back. BIG difference from my former employer - who would call in the national guard if you said the word 'gun'. Of course, they were HQ'd in Boston...

How they treat a soldier....BIGTIME BS!

PLEASE stop trying to compare what happened in NC with TN. The state's laws are very different. Open carrying in NC is legal. In TN, carrying a handgun is against the law. A HCP only gives you a defense against that crime. So, in TN, if you are carrying a firearm and a LEO asks for your permit, you are requred to show it. Otherwise, you are subject to arrest. That is not the case in NC. -
Smith & Wesson? I know of several people at my church who carry. My wife laughs at me for playing "spot the gun" at church every Sunday.
-
You should considering what you paid for it! Glad it's got a good home...

My better half bought me handguns for my last birthday and last Christmas. Yep, better than I deserve.

Dang it, I live in Nashville! Any price breaks on 1 million rounds of 223?

I ran the RC from mid May until the release was available to MSDN subscribers (late August). I've had a great experience with both. There is no way I would go back to Vista. 7 is what Vista should have been.
