  1. I pocket carry a G26 in a leather RKBA pocket holster in the front pocket of my Columbia cargo shorts 90% of the time when I leave the house in summer.  Other times it's IWB with an un-tucked shirt.  Wife says she sees no more bulge than I have with a SIG 938.  Also have cell phone, billfold, keys, light & knife in other pockets.  G19 mag in covered belt carrier.  Shorts are loose, but not baggy.  It's very comfortable to me and easily drawn when standing but forget drawing it when sitting.  I keep a second weapon accessible in the vehicle.
  2. That's amazing!  Makes my little AMT 45 backup seem like a 22.
  3. +1 to all the above! We researched and then used biometrics where I worked for access control. Worked great most of the time but sometimes didn't for whole host of reasons. Worse case there was that someone was delayed entry till problem was resolved and no ones life depended on it. Also, in my experience, batteries always go dead at the worst times, and yes, kids can, and will, get into anything they want to. As a kid, I'd have tried everything I could think of to get that thing open, just to do it. Sounds like a great idea, but not for me!
  4. I read of a lot of problems with the 938 before buying mine but I don't know anything about the 238 parts talked about in that link although the later recoil springs are suppose to be longer than the origionals. My 938 has a date on the box of 11/29/2012 and is S/N 52A030xxx. I researched it before buying and felt comfortable that SIG corrected the problems sometime in September of 2012 and that serial numbers above 52A008899 were good. A couple of days later I put a total of 500 rounds through it, 124 & 147 gr Hydroshock, 115 gr FMJ Winchester, and 147 gr flat nose American Eagle, with NO problems other than my trigger finger being sore. I've since put around 2000 rounds through it with only one FTE, and really think I limp wristed it then at the end of a range session after shooting two other handguns extensively. I did have an initial problem of shooting low left with it but corrected that by correcting my trigger pull.
  5. I always carry one or more when away from the house, unless it's illegal. I avoid going to those places whenever possible by buying car tags/paying taxes online, etc., or just don't go there. At home there's either one on the nightstand, on a table next to me, or in my pocket/on my belt. Like others, if I'm going somewhere I think I'll need one, I don't need to go there.
  6. I everyday carried a SIG 938 for about a 1 1/2 years and really liked it! Very accurate, smooth single action trigger, light weight and small. It replaced a SIG 229 that I love but was just too big, bulky and heavy to me for 24/7 carry. Like was said above and also in the SIG 938 owners manual, it is a 1911 style action and is meant to only be carried "cocked and locked" when a round is chambered, and I'm not comfortable carrying with an empty chamber. Only thing I didn't like was it's capacity and for that reason only I finally bought a Glock 26 for EDC and carry Glock 19 magazines for backup. Still carry the 938 on occasion when clothing dictates something smaller than the 26. I looked at, researched, and shot the Kahr, KelTec and others before deciding on the 938. Shooting them helped the most for me to make up my mind.
  7. Great info here! Didn't realize this effort was underway. I've written both of my legislators for support.
  8. This is GREAT! I just ran across this and couldn't stop untill I finished reading the entire thread. You've done an excellent job with the story thus far and I look forward to more.
  9. Same here on the rainbow.  Wife already had one when we got together.  It works great but, too much of a pain to fool with the water and then all that weight to lug around.  We now have stairs and it stays in storage.
  10. Prayers sent for him and your family.
  11. There would be 16 rounds of 9mm or 7 rounds of 00 buck on my side, depending on which I grabed, 16 rounds of 9mm on wifey's side, and a barking dog between us.
  12. I had Sigitis!  Buying the P229, then P226, then P220 didn't help and seemed to make it worse.  After waiting thru their problems with getting a reliable P238, then P938 on the market so I could get one I kinda got over my desires for a P224 and the Sigitis dwindled.  Then I held the G26, bought one and fell in love with it.  Now wifey wants one, I want a G19 and find myself thinking about a G30S or G29.  Glockitis has now rooted and I'm tired of fighting it!
  13. Mine's always chambered, the Wife's is always chambered, and the Dog is always locked, loaded and ready to bark at any noise!
  14. Another vote for DMBullard.  I have one of his "dual carry" holsters for my G26 and love it for iwb carry at 4-5 o'clock, it's tuckable too.  Some don't like it cause it has a lot of forward cant but, I find it doesn't print at all and is more natural to draw from than most holsters at the 4-5 o'clock position.  Also like his "body guard" owb holster that's a similar design.   I have a RKBA pocket holster for the G26.  It's all leather, covers the trigger completely, and draws from easily.  Ran across these looking for a pocket holster for my SIG 238 as I couldn't get my mind comfortable carrying a 1911 style "cocked and locked".  It covered the safety and I carried it unchambered for a couple of weeks working around the house before I was comfortable carrying with a round chambered.  Actually ordered one for the G26 and had it before I bought the gun at the first of this summer.  Have carried the G26 (w/round chambered) in the RKBA pocket holster in shorts front pocket probably 90% of the time since.
  15. Before retirement, I carried a 226, sometimes a 228, and occasionally a 220 or 230.  I loved shooting all four but, back in the early '90s SIG told us to only "lightly" oil the rails and I experienced some FTFs and FTEs with the 220 after 100-200 rounds at the range.  I then started using grease, liberally, and had no more problems.  I use tw25 now on all my guns.  On the origional 226 vs 220 question...I have no experience with the scorpion eletes but, I bought my 226 when I retired because it felt better in my hand and I could shoot it quicker with better accuracy.
  16. I also tried SOB at work several years ago with a holster made for it and never liked it.  Just too uncomfortable.  I now use a Milt Sparks VM2 IWB and love it.
  17. Two handguns and shotgun loaded (chambered) & near by 24/7!  Unless grandkids come up, then the're all locked in the safe except the one I have on me.
  18. Hello Everyone! I'm new to the forum and my name's Glenn. Jo (wife), Allie (dog) and I live about half way between Knoxville and Chattanooga in a little place known as Ten Mile. It's far enough out in the sticks that you can't buy fast food and get home before it's cold, but we like it here anyway. I retired in '05 and have spent most of my time on the boat (summertime), working in the yard (bout got it all done now), or working on my hot rod (never-ending project). I carried a duty weapon to, at, and from work, I've had a carry permit, as does Jo, since they started and we both occasionally carried when we thought it necessary. I guess I've either watched too much news, or I'm getting too old and becoming a pessimist but it seems like those "necessary" times have become "always" now. I'm considering getting a couple of new pistols and, from my hot rod experience, feel that a good forum can be an excellent source for a lot of valuable information. I've been lurking here for a while, liked what I saw, and thought I'd join the forum.
