I think it would be just as effective to have a sign saying all legal loaded handguns must remain in their holster under penalty of banning you from future shows. Gun shows draw idiots, just like any other kind of show. I'd like to have a way to protect myself from them.
-
Well Rabbi, you lost my vote there. In my view, if you don't have a natural born right of self-defense, any other rights are meaningless. I don't know. The more I read of his positions on other stuff, the less I like him.

Actually, I think marketing and salesmanship is the answer to a lot of questions. One question is why Glocks sell so many guns. I think we Americans buy 1911s because of tradition. I've owned, or own, a bunch of them, but I've never ever carried one. AKs have their place, just as ARs have their place. Just like in handguns, you have to look at the pluses and minuses of each weapons system in each of its available calibers and the situation you find yourself in.

I guess that's just because those states have a law only accepting resident permits. That seems to be a trend. Doesn't mean anything to a Tennessean.

What I got from the video is more confirmation that even in different cultures and even if men are allowed to beat them, women will act like women. [looking for bunker]
-
Yep, looks like it.

I think the deal here is that if I beat my wife, even with a toothpick, she will shoot me with a bullet.

They really are asking you to prove the negative. How in hell can you prove that you are "not an unlawful user of or addicted to alcohol or any controlled substance"? Apparently their position is that if you have ever been convicted of illegal drug use, you are barred from having a permit unless you can prove otherwise. In the case of drunk driving, the law is specific that it doesn't apply if you haven't been convicted twice in 10 years or once in the past 5 years from the date of the application. For drug use, it could be considered a permanent block on getting a permit. It's a poorly written law.

Looks like they are getting him on item 10 of 39-17-1351 Handgun carry permits

I had a Tomcat for a while. I don't recall reliability problems. But it was a bit bulky for a BUG, at least for a .32 BUG.

BTW, that KML file for Google Earth is screwed up. It leaves all sorts of artifacts in the application. Had to delete it. Actually, I'm at much higher resolution in Google Earth than I was a few months ago. I'm in the same quad as the Bristol NAStyCAR track, so they bumped up the resolution. Still hard to see where I am back in the trees. You can't even see my sniper's nest on top of the ridge overlooking the interstate.
-
I'll bet my life...it happens a lot more with a .32 than a 9mm.
-
I have a video of the results of an execution killing. The .32 was fired into the side of the head at point blank but did not penetrate. The next shot, through the left eye did.
-
One question. At what point was the boss shot in the arm? At that point I would have considered firing. But I agree, a .32 isn't enough to carry in those situations. Even if hit in the head, the round might not penetrate the cranial vault.

do you let others know you carry?

I don't think that would be procedure. He wasn't told a robbery was taking place, just that one MIGHT be happening. If you are a cop and come into a place with your gun drawn and there is no robbery, you are in trouble. It's a hard call. -
Well damn. I have a lot of territory to cover. I'm the square just below "Blountville" in Sullivan county and none of my neighbors have permits. It isn't in exactly the right place though, and the Google Earth info doesn't show me at all. I think this is probably a preemptive strike at closing the records from the media (public). Frankly, I can't get upset about people being able to find out I have a permit. If a thug looks me up, he knows where not to strike because he knows he will opposed. It's like having a burglar alarm that is obvious on a house. It just tells the BGs to go rob another easier place.

Maybe it's your reputation....

That's odd, My P7M8 seems to point the same way my other guns do. Maybe it's not the grip angle but some other factor that makes the Glock different? But what do I know. I never have a new thought.
-
Pad of my finger. I voted for "tip". While it's true you need to shoot in the way that works for you, pushing the gun to the left (assuming you are a rightie) is common for those using the joint.

Poor guy. He just went in for a coffee break and got shot. Or he went in on a routine check. The story seems to change. http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/11/01/officers.shot.ap/index.html If you click on the video, the LEO explaining the action says officer Cassidy was told outside the shop that a robbery might be in progress in the shop. The place had been robbed in September as well. Cassidy put his hand on his service weapon and entered the shop. Before he could draw the weapon, he was shot. -
Well, I'm glad we got that straight. Glock does the grip the correct way and the rest of the world's gun makers can't get it right. And from what I observed, I was compensating for the Glock shooting high. But again, it's not a big deal unless you can't stand to hear anything that doesn't reinforce the myth of Glock perfection.

Like Mike.357, we live back off the road. We had our standard zero number of trick or treaters. So I turned on one of those blower inflatable ghost and pumpkins in the yard and watched Wired Science, Criminal Minds and CSI. Did have to bring in the bird feeder. The raccoon has learned a new way to get to the feeder by hanging upside down from the feeder support.

For me, Glocks don't aim like other guns. That doesn't mean they can't be accurate, just that I have to learn a different shooting style in order to achieve that accuracy. It becomes second nature after a while. It was only while shooting the XD-9 sub, that is very much like the G26, that I realized what I was doing. What I found was that the XD, USP, P7M8, Beretta 92 & Tomcat, 1911s of various types, Five-seven, etc all use the same basic shooting hold but Glocks have to be dealt with somewhat differently. But with practice time, it becomes natural. I found that true later when I tried a G23 for a while. It's not really a big deal. For me, a Glock is just different.

Of course he should be allowed to speak his mind, and he did so. But sometimes there are repercussions for speaking your mind. Freedom of speech just means you can say stuff - not that you get a free pass for doing so. He has no right to attend that school and they have every right to set pretty much whatever standards and requirements they choose. I think he's right that students should be able to carry a gun to, and in, class. I also think he's an idiot and immature in a lot of other ways that would make me question whether he should have a permit to carry. If you act like a fool, a lot of people will decide you are one.
