Now don't say that about a Glock. People will get mad at you.

I don't know about the admins and other folks, but my take on it is not perception, but interpretation of the law. And I'm damn good at that.

On to Richmond....

I don't want to get into responding point for point. Again, I came into the situation after it was over. I keep mentioning this not because I'm concerned with legalities, but to say that I think I am objective in this and see some of both sides. What I come up with is that no one among the admins and mods thinks that Frank is a bad guy who was trying to pull something over on anyone. I think he was close to being a friend of some of the guys in middle Tennessee. I certainly held no animosity toward him and saw him as an asset to the board. OTOH, Tennessee code requires that a lottery (legally read raffle) must be held by a non-profit organization approved by the legislature for their benefit, not for them. What Frank was doing seems to me to be clearly illegal. YMMV. The board ownership, I think, decided they had to remove themselves from this illegal activity, as I read them. Under legal advice, that I completely concur with, they also removed Franks company as a vendor. Legally you have to make a complete break or you become complicit. IMHO, the events immediately after TGO rescinded Frank's vendor status actually made Frank subject to federal racketeering charges. Absolving himself of any activity in this, as I understand this, is the first proper move he has made. I congratulate his wisdom. I think we all individually have no dislike of Frank. I think he made some very bad choices with the very best of intentions. But they were not legal. Need I repeat that? As far as the board becoming too PC - I heartily agree. I don't like it. But the first post to this board's standards was that you shouldn't post what you can't see on TV. My problem is that some things removed can be seen daily on TV. I don't think "family entertainment" as I grew up with exists any more. Kids constantly educate me about sex. My personal view is more liberal than that. But it isn't my board. I think we sometimes get a bit too much ass pucker here, but I think that is with the best of intentions and sometimes comes from youth or good intentions and not un-intelligence. So far, we are the best board I have seen that allows differing views. I think I've deleted a lot more of my posts than anyone else's, and none because they disagreed with me. There was the one massive Alabama troll deletion thing. I hope Frank will come back. I think everyone here would love to see him return. But, OTOH, I think the board operators made the only sensible decision about how to handle the raffle thing. I'll tell you all what I tell the combat Marines I train. It is imperative that you think and not emote. Keep your cool - always. Think things out and only then act. I think Yoda might have said that too.

Well, the race was great until the last lap. Then it sucked.

Figures...just as I'm getting interested in revolvers again.

I just checked the weather map. Looks like they are between two lines of showers and storms that are mostly headed north. A shower might get them later in the day, but I'll guess they make it at least halfway. Maybe Tony will cut his girly-hair now? 88 would have won yesterday if he had gotten the help everyone expected he would get.

I think he should make an underwater one.

Actually a fair number of us. Check out the shoot in Kingsport on May 17. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7019

Isn't that an African sex toy?

Yeah, when it comes to guns "under the influence" means any influence. Drunk driving laws don't apply to guns.

God, that thing make a Glock look professional.

Technical Way around Restaurant Carry?
Marswolf replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I kinda doubt that for most restaurants. Joey's Pizza Barn might have it, but not yuppie restaurants I suspect that company policy is that generally none of the employees are armed. Better to have dead employees and patrons than face a lawsuit because one of your guys shoots someone. -
We had threats of rain about all day and did have a thundershower during the race. Very good race BTW. I got really enthusiastic and made up some taco seasoning (yes I make my own) and taco meat. Then became less enthusiastic and didn't make the tacos. I'll do that for a late lunch during the race. I probably will get out this morning and do a spring cleaning of my storage building. I have a nice view of Holston Hightop from my place. Nothing like grand views and smell of gasoline to make for a great outdoor experience. But I'll be back inside in time for the race.

Well, I can't speak to any hard feelings and how things were done, since I wasn't involved it that matter. However, I'm glad Frank has now turned the raffle over to another group. I'd say that whatever turmoil came with the TGO action, it did Frank a great favor. Sounds like it is set up the right way now. Maybe Frank could start to dig the hole to bury the hatchet. I think Eddie has explained why they did not approach Frank. It doesn't sound to me like it was from lack of any testicular fortitude. Contact works both ways.

The race is about to start. Get thee before a TV.

Does my training in Zip-a-dee-do-dah count?

Looks like scattered thunder storms for both days. They really need to get some tires with grooves.

I didn't know about the raffle incident until after it was over (in terms of this board) I have my opinions separate of the board. I never met Frank. He seems like an alright guy. But I have dealt with legalities for much of adult life. I will not go into details. Period. But I think what he is doing may violate both Tennessee Code and also Federal Code. I wish him well. He sounds like a good guy. I also hope the feds don't go after him for violations.

But why go for the pistol only? You either do, or will, need a rifle kit.

I think Tungsten likes that tat. It was part of the first PM he sent me, as I recall.. It is very descriptivel. That's what they should be. Something that telegraphs something important about the wearer. I sent it to my tat expert for evaluation. As I retire (I hope, finally - if I am allowed to do that) I may have to get one. Seems like I might want to make a statement to and for eternity. Then again, cremation may not be good for that. Fallguy, that is a fantastic tat. Obviously a good artist and good ink. Right place too. Well worth the four hours of pain.

But what if you have 18-pack abs?

You would (reasonably) think so. But I suspect that a handgun is is the frame. -
I hang out with vets in the mall occasionally for morning coffee. Did it this morning for the first time in a while. Sometimes I'll miss a month or three depending on what is happening and where I am. Used to drop by after leaving my government office up the Interstate a few miles. But, at 59, I'm the youngest of the group. Most of the guys are either Korea or both Korea and Vietnam vets. Bunch of Colonels and crap like that, but we have enough grunts to keep things normal. Just found out today that one of the guys, who wasn't there today, showed one of the other guys his DD214 the other day after a doctor's appointment. Pretty much continuous tours of Korea and Vietnam; three Purple Hearts; three Silver Stars; five Bronze Stars; etc. He never let on about it. Apparently, in 1973 Vietnam they finally told him to go home. I had no idea he had that kind of record, although he did know my DI at Bragg (kinda' a legendary character in the SF world) personally. Occasionally we get a young guy with us. Like the former Army E-4, Captain First Class who was released for disability but who was about to go back in as a Marine. He didn't last long. Come to think of it, I haven't heard of him since. The routine is that they meet from mall opening till around 11:00 when one of the local gun shops opens. I generally pass on the gun shop unless I just drop by later for a while. Depends on what is on the schedule. Hopefully, less and less.
