  1. I agree with most of this. I already have an X300-U on my Glock 19 for carry. I thought about getting an identical one for a rifle. I think they scouts probably throw a bit further but it honestly is an option. I'd have to experiment to see if the light on the top rail would get in the way of a RDS. Honestly thought I'm getting a pretty dang good deal on a new M600 so if it is a technical better light for the application there is no reason not to get it. I had an old-school non-led Surefire on an AR at one point. I sold it in order to upgrade to LED but haven't got around to it until now. I don't mind that the light is a bit longer. Whether it works is what matters to me (not that any of the Surefire weapon lights wouldn't work). Metal rail sections. I don't mind doing this but curious to hear a pro/con argument or aluminum vs polymer. I think you may have misunderstood about the solar AA attachment. I'd primarily be buying lithium AA's for sitting around the house. But, having the ability to charge AA's using solar power in an extended SHTF scenario leaving us without power has to seem appealing to some. The Eneloops are very, very well received although I'm curious to know if recoil affects them over time. This would simply be a backup allowing for extended use without power. That being said, you can store quite a few CR123's in not that much space. It wasn't about making anything brighter. Strobing. Personally, I understand how disorienting it is as I've messed around with some handheld lights quite a bit. I don't think Surefire offers this? Perhaps Streamlight? I'd be open to it as long as the overall use was as streamlined as possible.
  2. I'm about to put a Surefire on my AR but am seeking advice from perhaps those that have used this sort of setup professionally. Here is my proposed buylist: Surefire M600 Surefire DS00 Tail-cap Switch (I like the idea of the push button functionality as well as accepting the pressure switch, but the version without the push button is cheaper and the dual version has mixed reviews) Surefire ST-07 Pressure Switch MagPul MLOK Surefire Mounting Plate Now, based on people who have had a similiar setup, I'd be curious to know the following questions? Assuming cost is negligible, any reason to go with the M300 instead of the M600? How about the M600 that adjusts brightness based on setting? As far as mounting the actual light onto the for-end, I can either take a MagPul MLOK to Picantinny rail section and then mount the Surefire mount to it, or there are other options. Does anyone have input for this? If I go rail section, is it better to do polymer or metal, MagPul sells both. I debated on getting a AA M600. It isn't as bright but one could use Eneloop Pro's in the light and then buy a solar AA charging implementation. This seems like it would be perfect in any extended period without power. Then buying an Aimpoint Comp4 (also takes AA's) and it seems a good pair. A pair of lithium AA's could be stored in the MagPul grip as a backup. CR123's are great when you have them.

  4. Exactly. This was mainly a response to the "Fukushima is going to render the entire northern hemisphere uninhabitable" crowd.

  6. Something else that is interesting to think about in my opinion is the number of nuclear tests, primarily by ours truly as well as the USSR. One would think the totality of those tests would have been much more than Fukushima. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Interesting article. http://www.popularmechanics.com/science/energy/a19871/fukushima-five-years-later/ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Ok, here is something many here can comment on. I'm relatively young and wasn't even alive yet when Chernobyl happened. Now, it was a different time and the internet was barely existent, but was there as much "OMG THE SKY IS FALLING" over Chernobyl as there seems to be for Fukushima? There seems to be a lot of hysteria right now in certain corners, I'm merely trying to form my own opinion on whether the hysteria is warranted. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. The comments there are optimistic. Only, not so. Quickly turns into Agenda 21, conspiracy, etc talk.
  10. So what exactly is your opinion regarding Fukushima in terms of severity? Twice you referenced the soviet navy, perhaps insinuating that Fukushima isn't as bad as some things gone wrong in the past. Something that strikes me as interesting is that there are many claiming that the main isotopes released have relatively short half-lives, as in measured in weeks. Thoughts? The half-life's of things such as this is easy to find, what's difficult/impossible is theoretically determining which ones were being used and were therefore released.

  12. Can't believe the thought never crossed my mind.
  13. I think I've seen that movie before or one similar. I wouldn't have been able to recognize it from the name but the description sounds very familiar.
  14. I have no idea about any of the Dillion stuff. My first and only thought? Maybe there is a part sized for large primers and you are using small? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Fascinating. Looks like some already poke out of the water laying horizontally.

  17. So, Fukushima just piqued my interested as of recent. Been reading some updated articles regarding the whole mess. There seem to be two sides of the entire argument: 1) Fukushima isn't and wasn't nearly as bad as Chernobyl. Long term effects will be minimal. 2) Fukushima was and is the greatest disaster in the history of known mankind. In time we will see unforeseen effects on the earth and its inhabitants. The governments and agencies of the world are of course covering this up. I don't know where I stand. Maybe somewhere in the middle. On one hand the pollution and contamination (worldwide and local to Japan) can be measured by countless independent scientists/people. On the other hand, effects affecting the food chain could take years to fully realize. On one hand you have a vast number of alarmists who are claiming that the ocean/s are dying at at alarming and unforeseen rate. Others simply claim some of this is due to El Nino and other related factors. Some claim some of the fuel rods were completely vaporized and released into the atmosphere and anyone denying this is claimed to be lying. The reverse angle is that no, it is proven they did not vaporize and what is being cited as proof for them vaporizing was simply a worst case scenario written shortly after the earthquake which was prevented and did not happen. Like many things, some of this stuff is tough to dig through and decide on. I figured many here probably have been doing research much longer than I. Thoughts?
  18. I had a 2013. Loved it. Personally never experienced anything similar. Likely under exact circumstances or something? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Incompetent and uncaring. Sorry. Reminds me of my experience with Trijicon. https://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/56643-glocks-trijcons/?do=findComment&comment=1127014 The exact reason I haven't bought anything from them since and switched to Tru-Glo for my Glock. I plan on not buying any of their products again even though I like the ACOG. Compare that to Camelbak, Surefire, Spec-Ops Brand, etc that send out parts for free with hardly any of any proof of purchase. WileyX routinely replaces my glasses completely for like $10. That's pretty decent as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Overall I'm liking the new classifieds system. From further use I realized that the "advert" is directly linked to the discussion, in as much as if you edit the advert, it edits the original post in the discussion thread. I like that. I wasn't sure how linked together they were, I was afraid if you edited the advert it wouldn't update the discussion thread. This revelation made me like it about 50% more. Bumping. I guess you just bump the discussion thread? If someone keeps up with the discussion threads then it is easy to make them aware of things such as "updated, cheaper price" or something of the like. If someone only looks at the "new" classifieds interface, old posts get pushed back and it might be that people don't realize you've dropped pricing or something. I don't see a way to "bump" those up, but they do rotate all the way around in a 360 in the sense they start showing up when they are about the expire. That's a take it or leave it I guess. The most frustrating thing to me is that the advert image/images do not show up in Tapatalk. As stated previously, this perhaps is a complex issue and I don't expect it fixed necessarily. However, I've resorted to manually uploading images to Imgur and then linking to them in the description itself so that Tapatalk users can see things too. I know myself personally, what attracts attention to an item for sale usually is it popping up in the "Unread" section of Tapatalk with a picture. I suspect this is the case for a decent percentage of others as well.

  22. I think so. My thought process is like this. Manufacturer Caliber Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun Have the three of those stored as tags so that it can easily be filtered. Wanting a 9mm Glock? You can easily sort to just those via tags. However, my reason this morning for commenting is something else entirely. I think I've noticed three things within the last day or two regarding TGO as a whole with an emphasis on the new classifieds. For some odd reason, when viewing posts on Tapatalk that have been generated by the classifieds system automatically, it works! However, if you click "View Advert", it takes you to a completely non-related post. Example, just now on my Tapatalk I was looking at the nice Tavor for sale in Chattanooga. I clicked "View Advert" and it took me to "A Brother is Murdered" by James Yeager from 1/19/2007. Must have something to do with how the link/post number is generated by the new system. I think I've have noticed that in Tapatalk, imaged uploaded by the new classifieds system to not show up at all. I suspect of course if someone uses BBCODE (my preferred method typically anyways) to insert images from a third party host it should work if you put those in the details section. I haven't tested though. I think I have realized that generally as a whole Tapatalk (sitewide, not just classifieds) does not allow images uploaded by the forum software to be viewed on mobile. I've been thinking about what this is the case, my only conclusion has came down to it must be a permissions issue. I'm just taking a shot in the dark (in a safe direction though I promise!) that the way Tapatalk attempts to parse the uploaded image links, maybe even all image links, does not pass along cookie information to authenticate to the server that the user is logged in. Thus, when parsing those links, the server is denying the request because it appears it is being viewed as a guest. I'm guessing bad foresight by Tapatalk's programmers, but possibly something you could fix if it could be done that the server software allows uploaded images to be viewed by everyone and not just members. Like I said, a shot in the dark. I acknowledge that you don't and that it is even technically impossible to **fully** support Tapatalk in the sense of trying to implement **all** the features of TGO into Tapatalk. I just pointed out a few odd things. I will probably continue to use Tapatalk to browse general posts but will probably fire-up a web view to investigate any potential classifieds interests. EDIT: Let me also mention that I clicked "View Advert" (while in Tapatalk) on the two postings of mine that I migrated this morning. Each one of them linked to a seperate thread started by James Yeager in 2007. /Confused why he's so idolized by the new forum software. Maybe he just had a lot of posts going on in 2007 and the default links being generated somehow match up with a lot of his postings.

  24. It will be depending on which type of switches your keyboard uses. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Honestly, from a technical standpoint, monitor and keyboard, mouse will play into this some. Newer monitors have typically 1, 5, or 10 ms lag, potentially even more. Depending on what sort of switch your keyboard has, it could impact as well. For example, I was doing quite well on my keyboard but then switched to trying clicking the mouse. My reaction time went up a few hundred ms when I did this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
