2. Yeager will surprise you. He can be very professional when he wants to. He is not an idiot either. I bet he does extremely well and will hold ground with facts.
 3. "Murder conspiracy and other charges against the men were thrown out of a state court in October 2011 after a judge ruled audio and video recordings made during the six-month FBI investigation into Coxand the militia were not admissible because they were made without a search warrant, and therefore violated the Alaska Constitution. The FBI has wider authority to obtain warrants, and charges remained in federal court." This is the product of the patriot act and ndaa. The FBI now have the authority to write a search warrant on a napkin and call it legal. Since when can the feds overstep the state like this because they have "wider" authority? The fourth amendment is the fourth amendment. They wonder why people join militias.....
 4.
Here's a video from last week. It's one of our tower contractors from his trusty hard hat cam. He's climbing past my antenna at 1300 ish feet above ground. I moved the station to a backup site while the work was done. The antenna normally radiates 47 kilowatts effective.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MEfoVD5Q-aU&list=UUdGdivzYJtAJfmGPEqw14MA&index=2&feature=plcp
What happens when you get to the top and realize you forgot your screwdriver?
 5. I was reading this story to the wife and expressing the need to reinforce gun rules to our children at all times. Her reply...."How do you loose your carry gun?" She says. Then follows up with "That's like you loosing your penis, surely you would notice". ......That's why I married her.
 6. Miller welders are the only machines worth buying. If you're serious, spend the money up front for at least a 212 or bigger. You won't regret it.
 7.
*How do you know if they are mature enough? Ask an objective, and honest, friend if they think your kids are mature. I have friends who think their kids are just great and mature enough to handle a gun. I have observed evidence to the contrary. So sometimes parents can be biased (obviously).
So true!! I have said this before. Never, ever truly judge your children's behavior with your own eyes. Always judge your child's behavior by what others say about your kids behind your back.
 8. I would go with mbus. Chances of ever adjusting for elevation in the heat of it are slim to zero. You just Kentucky windage or follow the tracers. Just a thought.
 9. Does it matter? Dick's is a joke of a store anyways. Overpriced and hardly has anything in stock. Bought a bike (on sale) for the wife there years ago and found it cheaper a week later somewhere else. Plus the bike "expert" working that department didn't have a clue. Haven't been back since. Not sure how they stay in business. Their parking lot always seems empty.
 10. Call me crazy but if you were not driving and you were just simply in the vehicle, why did you volunteer information that was not pertinent for the stop? If the officer was not stopping you directly, you were not under any pressure to volunteer information or even show him id. I could be wrong but next time if you're not the one being "detained" then don't answer his questions.
 11. Ok.... the guy was wrong. Enough said. Now...those two decided to play the stupid game and won the grand prize. They chose to break into a mans house more than once, presumably, while he was home on a holiday.....poor criminal planning there. They found old homeowner alone by himself. They got shot by someone who was tired of being a victim. End result of a long series of choices by themselves is....(dingdingding) death! Did the man have to finish them off..no. Legally should he have finished them off...no. So I only see two bad choices on his part. He executed wounded, non threatening criminals and ran his mouth like a song bird to the cops.
 12.
The postal service is a joke. I do work on thier mail trucks and the amount some of the higher ups make is just doesnt match for the work they do.
Careful there......the VMF's influence is everywhere. If you think the USPS is a joke, stop soaking up the easy money from them for working on the easiest trucks in the world to work on. Heck, they even provide you with the parts, all you have to do is hang them on.
 13. I'm going to play devils advocate here. I'm not going to get into a p*ssing contest with anyone, just offering a different point of view. First thing I noticed is all the evil death wishes and bad karma being hoped upon the gentleman in question. Y'all sound like a bunch of tree hugging liberals. So sad. I understand that some people place pets on a higher stool than most of their family members. That, also sad. Plus, the story stated that the neighbor had a previous pet. My gut tells me the neighbors were much like mine. They have been told time and time and time again to keep their damn dog in their own yard. Yet, the neighbors continue to thumb their nose at him, much like mine do. The owner admitted to letting the dog out first with no leash. My guess is she had no intentions of putting the dog on the leash at all. Even being a puppy, that puppy has enough energy and weight to cause harm to someone who is old. So I can't say I don't blame him for putting an end to a problem that has probably been a problem for alot longer than the news is reporting. My neighbor's dog is a pitbull/hound dog mix and is extremely aggressive, yet my neighbor let's it run free all the time, even after numerous talks with me. I'm about to have a child and I would not hesitate to shoot that dog if I thought for one second it was too close to my kid, wife or myself. Don't burn me too bad. I'm not saying he was right, I'm just saying maybe he wasn't entirely wrong.
 14.
When I am stopped on a rare occasion, I am always courteous and professional. I say sir a lot, keep my hands visible, have my information ready, never make fast or unexpected movements, and I hand my HCP to the office along with my license. Usually I get respect back from the officer. That being said, I've run into some a holes. I've had my rights violated. A couple of years ago, I was coming down I40 between Memphis and Jackson, heading toward Nashville. It was early in the morning, about 4:30 or so. I came through the usual "trap" area around mile marker 25. Although the speedometer said 68, I figured I'd be okay with the limit being 65. I was wrong. The white SUV pulled me over and the officer came to the passenger side. We exchanged the usual conversation on why I was stopped, speed along with window tint (they weren't tinted at all). While we were talking, he kept looking at the large boxes in the back seat. He said that he would not cite me for the speed, but then asked if I would consent to a search of my vehicle. I politely said no. He then said he would run his K9 around the outside. He got me out and had me stand behind the vehicle with another officer. Now, I spent eight years in law enforcement. I've had several K9 handlers as friends. I've helped with their training scenarios, caught dogs with sleeves, and know the procedure for presenting an area for the dog to inspect. I also know about rewards and when they are given. I watched the dog. He never alerted. He never showed interest. When he was done, the officer returned him to the vehicle with no reward. He then returned and told me the dog had alerted. I looked at him in amazement and he said, "You didn't see him trying to tear the door off the car?". I said no, because he hadn't. I knew what was going on at that point. This officer wanted to look in those boxes. He was prepared to violate my rights to do it, and he did. Of course, the boxes had parts for ultrasound systems that I had been working on. When he was done, my suitcase was ransacked, the boxes were unpacked and disheveled, and I had been violated and detained for 30 minutes for no reason. This guy was a bad cop who was prepared to wipe his feet on the constitution. I was powerless and felt betrayed. This is why I don't trust law enforcement automatically. This is why I will not consent to a search and will not volunteer any information other than what I am required to do. There are too many of these guys mixed in with the good cops to let my guard down. Call me cynical, but it seems to be getting worse. We seem to be militarizing out law enforcement at an alarming rate.
This story illustrates perfectly what I have been trying to complain about this whole time. I did not mean to derail the topic.
 15.
You do realize officers have the right to secure that weapon in your possession? It is because anyone, including you, in this state with a firearm on their person is committing a crime. An officer has the right to treat you like a criminal until they determine you have a valid reason to have that firearm. Again, you ARE a criminal (intent to go armed) in this state when you have a firearm in your possession. It is just you cannot be charged because a defense is having a HCP. Dolomite
I understand this entirely. My issue with this is the state, has removed my right to bear arms and handed it back to me in the form of a privilege. Since they have granted the right of exemption for this crime in the form of HCP, they have given the right to police to violate my Constitutional rights as a citizen of the Country, by treating me like a criminal until I prove to the state that I have been given back the right to bear arms that I never should have lost in the first place. So, our state constitution violates the Constitution. This needs changed. Then, the police will no longer be able to disarm us against our will....which technically is violating my rights now, just not in the eyes of the state.
 16.
The question was prompted because in post #32 you said you had "more than paid your dues"...that statement seems to be in conflict with what you just said here.
More than paid, means I feel I have served, and added alot more than what was expected of me. Anyone that goes above and beyond the scope of what is expected of them has paid their dues and then some. Thank you for the banter Robert. I must go to work now. I've been following you around the forums long enough to know that you love to dance in the world of bickering and try to turn the meanings and intent of comments upside down. We will be at this all day. Enjoy.
 17.
Did you not just admit that you were wrong with the suspension of rights by disarming? "Agreed. My bad, I veered away from original topic. I was talking about a multitude of problems with cops than disarming. If the law gives them that ability, which it does, then they can follow it. If we don't like that law, we get the law changed." So how do I trample any rights by doing my job? I think your hate for my profession has clouded your judgment. And since you mentioned it, "Six years in the Army." Thank you for your service.
I did not admit I was wrong. I agreed that the law simply states that a police officer may under the guise of law, passed at the legislative level, the right to trample our rights. The law needs to be changed. My rant was off topic, and more addressed at the other nefarious ways policemen trample our rights. I was wrong for going so far off topic. Thank you also for your service also. I am not trying to bash anyone or their profession. I'm simply saying that too many times police get a free pass on trampling rights in the name of safety. More safety = less freedom.
 18.
I wonder....how "much" do you have to pay before you've "paid your dues"? Is there a set point at which one can stop and then just sit back and leave the work of being a citizen to others?
Paid my dues. Meaning myself and others like me have deposited a form of payment to their Country. We now have a special interest in what happens in this Country. The work never ends. The dues never expire. All citizens work is never done.
 19.
101 if we all got safe jobs and quit policing who would protect your rights to moan and bitch about everything? And who would be there to pull your butt out of the fire when your mouth writes a check your butt can't cash. If you are not or have not been in the military, police dept, fire dept. you have no idea of what it means to put your life on the line for a total stranger. Just because we are paid does not make us less than you. And even though you portray yourself as a complete ass I would still do my job and protect you just like the fireman and the soldier. You have a right to your views and I will say no more. Good luck in life, I think you may need it.
Six years in the Army. I have more than paid my dues. That is why I get so frustrated with people like you that justify trampling on citizens rights.
 20.
The law allows them to disarm you for their safety in this state. Their choice, not yours.
Agreed. My bad, I veered away from original topic. I was talking about a multitude of problems with cops than disarming. If the law gives them that ability, which it does, then they can follow it. If we don't like that law, we get the law changed.
 21.
One of the things I've noticed about some firearm enthusiasts is that some seem to have a chip on their shoulder when it comes to LEO. We all know there are "bad cops" out there who will stomp all over our "rights" and/or who on on some kind of power trip but whether the LEO is right or wrong, the side of the road is NEVER the place for such things to be decided. Statements like "Where in the Constitution does it say my rights can be trampled on so someone who knowingly accepted a dangerous job could feel all warm and fuzzy?" reflect an attitude that will, in my opinion, not serve one well long-term no matter how many times one has been pulled over with no problems.
Nowhere did I say to argue with cops on the side of the road. Handle yourself as you see fit. Just because someone expects someone else to do their job properly makes me a problem? When you get a hair cut, do you expect it to be right? When you go out to eat do you expect it to be prepared how you pay for it? When you buy a car do you expect it to perform like it should? When your house is on fire, do you expect the fire department you pay for to show up and do their job properly? Why does everyone want to give cops a free pass when they piss on our rights, because they want to be safer? Hold them to the standard they accepted and took an Oath to follow. What is so wrong about that?
 22.
If my going home to my wife and kids is "warm and fuzzy" then I'll do what I have to do. And if that boils your blood your blood is pretty thin and probably should be boiled. Lots of crappy folks hide behind the constitution when they know they are wrong, and I don't mind that. But on your same line of thinking, where does it say in the constitution that you have to die just because you have a dangerous job. It would also be nice for the rest of us if we knew what you do for a living, since you are slamming my career.
Your statement is the perfect example of what I'm trying to portray. Thank you for proving my point. If you want to ensure you go home every night then get a new job. OR stop whining about the danger and better prepare your self for the unexpected. You (cops) have no right to piss all over my rights, ever. Follow the law like you should, stop being criminals yourselves and do the right, proper job you're suppose to and expected to. The gentleman with the post about the franklin and Brentwood encounter was another fine example of how cops trample our rights. They were told no to the search, they should have sent him on his way. But no, they had to push and push and found nothing. Now they have two guys, with trampled rights, pissed off and not liking cops. The chance of finding something to arrest someone for does not outway my rights as a citizen of this free Country. Let them go. If they are criminals, they will get caught soon enough.
 23.
Based on the above, I wouldn't be surprised if, some day, you have an unhappy traffic stop encounter with a LEO that we'll all read about here.
Doubtful. I've been pulled over plenty. I've been carrying everytime. I've never had an issue, or had my gun removed from my possession. Maybe, I'm just lucky enough to have managed to get pulled over by the decent, law following police officers and not some of those "I'm so high on my power trip that I need to feel safe and control you right now" police officers. Y'all are missing the point. If cops, and most do, follow the guidelines and the law as they should, be respectful and courteous.....even when faced with a idiot citizen then there would be less headaches and more respect for them. Unfortunately the few bad apples give the whole profession a black eye. Police should not have the attitude that they can "suspend " the Constitution because they want to be safe. They need to be safe by being trained and keep their alert status on high.
 24.
Your legal right to have the weapon does not superseed his or her right to safety.
This is why our Country is heading down the path it is. Where in the Constitution does it say my rights can be trampled on so someone who knowingly accepted a dangerous job could feel all warm and fuzzy? Statements like that boil my blood. Cops need to respect the law and follow it, not "suspend" it for their safety.
 25. It's funny how the people that complain about spanking seem to have the worst behaving children. Short term pain and discomfort is the learning tool of life. Experiencing discomfort teaches humans to not do that again. Experience leads to wisdom. My parents tried grounding me from things I liked. I just learned to do without and moved onto something else. When I was spanked I learned quickly not to do that again (or at least not get caught). Every human is different. We all respond differently to different things. Some kids need a stern look and some need a stern swat on the rear. To try and make this one size fits all crap and "OMG you're ruining your kids chi" because you spank him is horsecrap. To this day, I learn a good portion of lives' lessons from pain. Children are no exception.
